چکیده

Parental relationships remain an important aspect of psychological functioning throughout our lives. However, little research has been carried out examining their relationship with emotional regulation in non-clinical populations. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived parental attachment and emotional regulation in young adults using a quantitative non-experimental correlational design. An online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographics and 30 Likert scale statements, 15 statements relating to parental attachment (1-15) and 15 statements relating to emotional regulation (16-30) was completed. From the sample of 102 responses exported, 1 case did not give consent and so were removed from analysis, giving a total of 101 complete cases. Reverse scoring was applied to negatively worded statements. Mean scores for parental attachment were 51.83 (SD = 12.15). Mean scores for emotional regulation were 49.42 (SD = 8.41). Internal reliability for parental attachment was high with a Cronbach?s alpha score of .877. Internal reliability for emotional regulation was acceptable with a score of .767. There was a significant positive association between parental attachment and emotional regulation (r(99)=.511, 95% CI [.35, .64], p<.001). Approximately, 26% of variance appeared to be shared between the two variables. Young adults with higher levels of perceived parental attachment (closeness, trust and open communication) reported higher levels of emotional regulation. As this study used a correlational design, this represents an association rather than a causal relationship. Overall, the findings provide evidence to take a relational approach and consider individuals within their context in counselling psychology.

Improving Teacher-student Relationships via PBIS: A Study of First-year Teachers

Rene Martinez; Mervyn J. Wighting; Daniel Tubbs Athens Journal of Education, 2026, Vol. 13, Issue 4, pp. 587-606 https://doi.org/10.30958/aje.13-4-1

چکیده

This mixed-methods study examined whether first-year teachers could improve relationships with students through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Fifty novice teachers implemented one of three PBIS strategies: daily one-on-one conversation, verbal praise, or immediate rewards with 192 selected students over a two-week period. Teacher-student relationships were measured using the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale (STRS) before and after the intervention. Results showed significant reductions in conflict (t(191) = 7.14, p < .001, d = 0.98) and moderate increases in closeness (t(191) = –7.11, p < .001, d = 0.67). No significant differences emerged across grade levels, teacher and student gender, or PBIS strategy type. Thematic analysis of teacher reflections highlighted improvements in engagement, cooperation, emotional regulation, and relational trust. Although the study was limited by its two-week duration and reliance on teacher self-reports, the findings demonstrate that even brief PBIS interventions can yield measurable relational benefits. Implications are discussed for teacher preparation programs and school-based practice. Keywords: teacher-student relationships, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), teacher preparation programs, first-year/novice teachers, school climate.

The Relationship between Gadget Addiction Level and Tantrum Behavior in Children Aged 4-6 Years

Lutfia Habibah; Ni Ketut Somoyani; Asep Arifin Senjaya Journal of Multidisciplinary Science MIKAILALSYS, 2026, Vol. 4, Issue 3, pp. 8922-8935 https://doi.org/10.58578/mikailalsys.v4i3.12498

چکیده

Early childhood is a critical period for emotional development and behavioral regulation. Increasing digital device use among young children has raised concerns about its association with tantrum behavior, although research examining addiction-related use rather than screen duration alone remains limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between gadget addiction levels and tantrum behavior among children aged 4–6 years at Widya Santhi Buana Kindergarten, West Denpasar District. A quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 45 parents or guardians recruited through total sampling. Data were collected on April 15, 2026, through online questionnaires administered using Google Forms. The instruments comprised an adapted Digital Addiction Scale for Children with 25 items, which demonstrated high internal consistency during pilot testing (Cronbach’s α = .977), and the 31-item Rating Scale of Angry Emotional Behavior and Temper Tantrum. Univariate analysis summarized the distributions of gadget addiction levels and tantrum behavior, while Spearman’s rank correlation assessed their relationship. The results showed that 48.9% of children were classified as having moderate gadget addiction levels. Regarding tantrum behavior, 53.3% were classified as exhibiting no tantrum behavior, whereas 22.2% were classified as exhibiting severe tantrum behavior. A strong, positive, and statistically significant correlation was identified between gadget addiction levels and tantrum behavior (ρ = .641, p < .001). Higher parent-reported gadget addiction levels were therefore associated with greater tantrum severity within the participating group. The cross-sectional design and reliance on parent-reported measures limit causal interpretation. These findings may inform parent education concerning supervised device use and consistent family rules. Further research should include larger samples, examine parenting styles and other relevant factors, and use longitudinal designs to clarify the direction of the relationship.

Corresponsabilidad familiar para el apoyo socioemocional en estudiantes de educación básica

Juliana Yimabel Andrade Jiménez; Jorge Luis Guamán Eras Journal of Economic and Social Science Research, 2026, Vol. 6, Issue 4, pp. 93-115 https://doi.org/10.55813/gaea/jessr/v6/n4/285

چکیده

Family co-responsibility links family involvement with students' socioemotional needs and with the actions carried out by the school. This study aimed to understand, from the perspective of education professionals, family co-responsibility for the socioemotional support of basic education students in public schools. A qualitative study with a descriptive design and an interpretive orientation was conducted. Data were collected through an asynchronous, self-administered open-ended questionnaire completed by three professionals with different profiles and were examined through qualitative content analysis and source triangulation. The results show heterogeneous family involvement and support practices that combine educational monitoring with emotional support. Participants distinguished between having communication channels available and sustaining ongoing coordination with families. The barriers identified were mainly located in family and socioeconomic conditions, and no barriers were explicitly attributed to the school. Family-school collaboration was recognized as relevant to addressing socioemotional needs. Based on the professionals' perceptions, the study concludes that family support integrates educational and socioemotional dimensions and gains meaning through its connection with the school, within a co-responsibility in which both settings play distinct and complementary roles.

Adult Attachment Orientations among University Students

Neha Agrawal; Shivanand Pawar International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2045-2049 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261029115733

چکیده

This study examines adult romantic attachment among university students, focusing on attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design was used, involving 50 students aged 18 to 28 years. Data were collected through an online questionnaire using the 12-item Experiences in Close Relationships?Short Form (ECR-S). The results showed moderate attachment anxiety (M = 3.78, SD = 1.03) and low-to-moderate attachment avoidance (M = 3.16, SD = 0.90). A weak positive correlation was observed between the two dimensions (r = .16, p = .264), but the relationship was not statistically significant. Exploratory analysis identified a statistically significant difference in attachment avoidance across years of study, while the observed gender difference in attachment anxiety was not statistically significant. These demographic findings require cautious interpretation because of the small subgroup sizes. Overall, participants reported greater concern about rejection than discomfort with emotional closeness. The findings support examining attachment anxiety and avoidance as distinct dimensions of romantic attachment. However, the small convenience sample, reliance on self-reported responses, and cross-sectional design limit the generalisability of the results. Further research involving larger and more diverse student populations is recommended to examine attachment patterns and their relationship with demographic and interpersonal factors.

The Role of Attachment Styles in Adult Relationships

Gouri T International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2122-2126 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261030152611

چکیده

This study explored attachment-related responses and self-reported relationship experiences among adults. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted using an online questionnaire; the supplied response file contained 57 records. The questionnaire included demographic questions, 12 attachment-related statements, six relationship-experience statements, and an optional open-ended question about healthy relationships. Descriptive statistics were calculated. For exploratory analysis, four items concerning fear of rejection and reassurance were averaged into an anxiety-related index, and four items concerning emotional disclosure, closeness, and independence were averaged into an avoidance-related index. These researcher-created indices are not validated psychological scales. Spearman rank correlations were used to examine associations with relationship-experience ratings. The six-item relationship-experience composite had a mean of 3.65 on a 1-5 scale. The anxiety-related index was positively associated with the composite (ρ = .315, p = .017), as was the avoidance-related index (ρ = .430, p = .001), contrary to the initially anticipated negative direction. Since the items were not validated, no reverse-scoring was applied, and the sample was a convenience sample with uneven demographic representation, these findings must be interpreted cautiously. They do not establish causation or justify classifying individuals by attachment style.
