The present study reports two independent investigations examining, respectively, the relationship between pornography consumption and paraphilic interests and sexual fantasies (Study 1), and the content of public commentary directed at apparently young female users on TikTok (Study 2). Study 1 examined how the frequency, duration and self-reported arousal associated with pornography consumption relate to paraphilic interests. A sample of 320 participants completed three validated measures: the Consumption of Pornography Scale–General (COPS-G), the Paraphilia Scale and the Sexual Fantasy Experience Scale (SFES). Spearman’s rho correlations found that greater pornography use and higher arousal were associated with overall paraphilic interest and with interests featuring sexually aggressive undertones. Study 2 used thematic analysis to examine 179 comments posted beneath 53 TikTok videos identified as featuring apparent minors, identifying five themes: (1) Deception, (2) Inappropriate Compliments, (3) Insults, (4) Invitations and Requests for Engagement and (5) Sexualized. Comments regularly referenced the young age or student identity of the creator. The two studies together, suggest that themes prominent in mainstream pornography, including sexual aggression and the sexualisation of youth, are echoed both in some individuals’ internalized interests and in unrelated public online discourse, without this establishing that pornography exposure causes either outcome.

Stress is a major contributor to physical and mental health disorders, underscoring the need for reliable and interpretable detection systems. We present an interpretable multimodal deep learning framework that integrates electrocardiogram (ECG), electrodermal activity (EDA), and respiration signals using modality-specific neural architectures complemented by feature-based classical models. To ensure robustness and generalizability, the framework was evaluated under both subject-independent and subject-dependent protocols. Results show that multimodal fusion consistently outperformed single modalities, achieving 94.8% accuracy, 93.9% F1-score, and 0.97 AUC under subject-independent validation, compared with 86–91% accuracy for individual signals. In subject-dependent experiments, performance reached 97.2% accuracy and 96.8% F1-score. Comparative analysis with recent state-of-the-art methods demonstrated the competitiveness of our approach, while ablation studies confirmed the contribution of each modality and fusion strategy. Statistical significance testing with ( p < 0.05) further validated the reliability of these gains. Importantly, interpretability analyses using Grad-CAM and attention visualization provided physiological insights, revealing that the model emphasizes clinically meaningful regions such as ECG R-peaks and phasic EDA fluctuations. By uniting high performance, robustness, and interpretability, this work advances stress detection research and offers a physiologically grounded framework for continuous mental health monitoring.

Wearable monitoring of pre-shot heart rate in youth golfers: a potential mental-load correlate in ecological putting practice

Jasper Gielen; Katrien Buysse; Elise Heirman; ROMAIN R. MEEUSEN; Jean‐Marie Aerts Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1939721 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1939721

Introduction Information and communication technologies, including wearable sensors, offer accessible and ecological ways to support psychological processes underpinning technical practice in sport, such as the regulation of attention, arousal and mental load. The aim of this exploratory study is to examine whether heart rate (HR) and physical activity (PA), recorded with a chest-worn wearable, can serve as a potential, indirect correlate of the mental load experienced during golf putting training. Two research questions were of interest: (i) Do pre-shot HR and PA differ between made and missed putts? (ii) Do pre-shot HR and PA differ following a made compared with a missed putt? Methods Seven youth golfing athletes (13–16 years old; handicap (hcp) index < 12) performed a putting training exercise in which the goal was to score five consecutive putts from 3-metre distance to the hole. HR and PA were recorded continuously and matched with putting performance using video footage. Pre-shot HR and PA were taken as the mean over the 5 s before ball contact. Because the putts are nested within sessions and athletes, the analyses combine within-athlete non-parametric tests, corrected for multiple comparisons and reported with effect sizes, with linear mixed-effects models treating athlete and session as random effects. Results Pre-shot HR and PA do not differ significantly between made and missed putts (mixed-model estimate for HR: +0.09 bpm, 95% CI [−0.46, 0.64]; p = 0.76). However, pre-shot HR is higher following a made putt and lower following a missed one (+5.08 bpm, 95% CI [4.54, 5.62]; p < 0.001), an association that persists after adjusting for the pre-shot HR of the preceding putt. PA shows the opposite trend. Discussion Because no subjective ratings of mental load, arousal or affect were collected, mental load remains one plausible interpretation of this pattern rather than an established one. Pending validation against such measures, the approach could offer coaches and athletes an exploratory starting point for conversations about how training situations are experienced, and illustrates how continuous monitoring of HR may provide a potential indirect correlate of mental load in youth golfers.

This study explores the impact of On-the-Job Training (OJT) on the readiness of Aircraft Maintenance Technology students at Indiana Aerospace University for actual line maintenance operations. Serving as a bridge between classroom learning and real-world application, OJT allows students to develop technical skills, professional discipline, and familiarity with industry standards. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study gathered data from 100 randomly selected BSAMT students through five-point Likert scale surveys and structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using weighted mean, percentage, and rank, while qualitative responses were thematically coded. Results show that students generally strongly disagreed with negative statements about their OJT experience, indicating that the training effectively enhanced their technical, practical, and professional competencies. However, challenges such as teamwork issues, adapting to workplace culture, and managing work pressures were commonly reported. The study concludes that OJT significantly contributes to students’ preparedness for line maintenance work and recommends improved teamwork exercises, workplace orientation, and simulation-based learning to strengthen both technical and soft skills.

Emotion regulation in early childhood develops gradually and depends on media that allow children to recognize and express their feelings. Preliminary observation in class B2 of TK Putra 1 Makassar showed varied emotional responses among children aged 5-6 years, while paper in the classroom was used only for coloring and copying. This study aimed to analyze and describe the emotion regulation of children aged 5-6 years through the Illustrated Emotion Diary. A descriptive qualitative approach was used with four children as subjects across six sessions (30 July-6 August 2026), each consisting of three stages: emotional triggering, free visual expression, and confirmatory storytelling. Data were collected through passive participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with the children, a confirmatory interview with the classroom teacher, and documentation of drawing portfolios, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (1994). Trustworthiness was established through technique triangulation (observation compared with child interviews, supported by documentation), source triangulation (the classroom teacher), replication of findings across the four subjects, and informant feedback. The results showed that emotion regulation of the four subjects developed gradually and in different patterns. A shy child became calmer and able to explain his drawing, while a child showing a tendency toward separation anxiety began to channel emotions through drawing, although this tendency had not fully disappeared. These findings were consistent across observation, child interviews, documentation, and the teacher's confirmation. Drawings and stories gave children space to understand and convey emotional experiences, especially when verbal ability was still limited.

Introduction Interventions that dyadically equip families with self-compassion skills represent a promising approach for addressing mental health challenges, particularly during the key transitional period of middle childhood. This study examines changes and candidate processes associated with participation in the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers (MSC-CC) course. Methods Twenty-three caregiver-child dyads (Child, M age =8.78; Caregiver, M age =41.2) participated in MSC-CC, delivered remotely over six weekly group sessions. Pre- and post-intervention assessments included self-report measures of parenting and relational closeness outcomes during a dyadic stressor task (behavior, reflective functioning[RF], and physiology). Analyses investigated pre-post change in primary outcomes and linear mixed-effects models estimated time-related changes and baseline moderators of physiological change. Significance tests identify pre-post increases in parenting and emotion-supportive beliefs. Results and Discussion Physiologically, we detected significant decreases in child physiological arousal. Exploratory moderation analyses suggest, among others, low levels of mindfulness and high RF at baseline predict the largest reductions in child stress physiology. While uncontrolled, the MSC-CC participation was associated with increases in mindful parenting and the caregiver-child relationship and lower child physiological arousal during a dyadic challenge, most prominently in families with lower emotion-supportive beliefs at baseline. Altogether, this highlights candidate processes and moderators of efficacy to be confirmed in a fully powered randomized controlled trial. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov , Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers (SCCC) , NCT05818397, registration and study start on 2023-10-16.

ثبت کارآزمایی: ClinicalTrials.gov، Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers (SCCC)، NCT05818397، ثبت و آغاز مطالعه در ۲۰۲۳-۱۰-۱۶.
