This paper presents an innovative interdisciplinary teaching model based on the integration of acoustic phonetics into STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). This study is based on the premise that the interdisciplinary nature of acoustic phonetics, connecting language with physics, mathematics, and digital technologies, provides a suitable basis for designing STEAM-oriented educational activities that engage students in scientific inquiry, acoustic measurement, data analysis and programming. The paper presents a pilot classroom implementation in English language instruction in which students used Praat-based acoustic analysis together with a Python-based supervised machine-learning classifier to investigate whether speakers could be differentiated on the basis of measurable acoustic characteristics. The computational component employed a Random Forest classifier based on selected acoustic features, while supplementary manual analysis of the F3–F2 distance was used to examine/r/ realizations in cases of acoustic overlap. The classroom implementation involved 30 seventh-grade students, while the acoustic speaker dataset consisted of recordings from six students selected for the speaker-differentiation component of the project. A special section of the paper is devoted to the development of educational projects combining phonetic analysis, physical models of the vocal tract, and artificial intelligence algorithms, with the aim of bringing the scientific method closer to students and enabling active learning through research. The paper demonstrates that phonetic research can serve not only as a component of language teaching but also as a powerful instrument of interdisciplinary education. The conclusion emphasizes that phonetics represents an authentic STEAM discipline in miniature and that its systematic implementation in teaching contributes to the development of functional knowledge, an investigative mindset, and students' digital competencies.
