Darwina B. Castillo; Gail G. Gumilet International Journal of Global Goals and Sustainable Development, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pp. 40-50 https://doi.org/10.65339/ijggsd.v1.i1.6

چکیده

This study examined the relationships among study habits, learning-style preferences, and academic performance in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) among Grade 10 learners of Solano High School, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, during School Year 2025–2026. Anchored in Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory and Biggs' Presage–Process–Product Model, the study employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design involving 300 learners selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using an expert-validated, researcher-made questionnaire and official first-quarter MAPEH grades, with descriptive statistics and Pearson's product-moment correlation used for analysis. Findings revealed high levels of study habits (M = 3.01) and learning-style preferences (M = 3.06), with concentration and interest emerging as the strongest study-habit dimension and tactile learning as the most preferred modality. Academic performance yielded a mean grade of 86.58, with most respondents attaining outstanding or very satisfactory ratings. A significant moderate positive relationship was established between study habits and learning styles (r = 0.635, p < 0.001). However, study habits (r = 0.277, p < 0.001) and learning styles (r = 0.135, p = 0.019) demonstrated statistically significant but negligible positive relationships with academic performance. Visual and auditory preferences showed significant positive correlations with academic achievement, whereas tactile and kinesthetic preferences showed no significant relationships. The study concludes that study habits and learning preferences have limited associations with MAPEH performance, highlighting the need for improved study routines, diverse instructional strategies, and further investigation of other contributing factors. The research supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and indirectly contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Its potential sustainability impact lies in strengthening educational practices, supporting evidence-based instructional improvement, and promoting long-term educational and institutional development.

چکیده

This study assessed the employability skill readiness of Alternative Learning System (ALS) graduates in Liloan District, Cebu, during School Year 2025–2026 as a basis for developing a skill enhancement plan. Anchored on Human Capital Theory, Career Construction Theory, and Social Cognitive Career Theory, the study employed a quantitative correlational research design involving 70 ALS graduates. Data were collected using an adapted and modified questionnaire and analyzed through percentages, weighted means, standard deviations, Pearson product-moment correlation, and chi-square tests. Findings revealed high employability skill readiness in communication (M = 4.08), teamwork (M = 3.82), problem-solving (M = 3.81), self-management (M = 3.48), and technical or job-specific skills (M = 3.52). Employability readiness was significantly associated with age, parents’ educational attainment, parents’ occupation, and combined monthly family income, while gender showed no significant relationship. Furthermore, challenges encountered exhibited a significant negative relationship with employability readiness (r = −0.46), indicating that greater challenges were associated with lower readiness. Prominent challenges included limited access to training and upskilling opportunities, insufficient career preparation, inadequate hands-on experience, and limited confidence in applying acquired skills. The study recommends implementing the proposed Skill Enhancement Plan through accessible training, career guidance, workplace exposure, and strengthened stakeholder partnerships. The research aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting inclusive skills development and employment readiness. Its potential contribution to educational, socioeconomic, and community sustainability lies in supporting lifelong learning, equitable employment preparation, and improved workforce participation among ALS graduates.

Ivy Mae P. Maluenda; Antonieta O. Ocaña International Journal of Global Goals and Sustainable Development, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pp. 95-104 https://doi.org/10.65339/ijggsd.v1.i1.11

چکیده

This study examined teachers' readiness, attitudes, challenges, lived experiences, and assessed effectiveness of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in the Division of Bohol during School Year 2026–2027 as a basis for a comprehensive action plan. Anchored in program implementation, reading readiness, constructivist, and sociocultural learning perspectives, the study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-method design involving 277 Grade 7 ARAL teachers from 129 public secondary schools. Data were collected using a validated researcher-developed questionnaire and semi-structured interviews and analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple regression, and thematic analysis. Findings revealed high teacher readiness (M = 3.16), highly favorable attitudes (M = 3.22), highly encountered challenges (M = 2.88), and highly assessed program effectiveness (M = 3.08). Regression analysis showed that readiness, attitudes, and challenges significantly predicted assessed effectiveness (R² = 0.643, p < .001), explaining 64.3% of its variance, with attitudes emerging as the strongest predictor. Teachers reported challenges involving limited instructional time, inadequate resources, additional workloads, irregular learner attendance, and insufficient parental support. Qualitative findings highlighted differentiated instruction, diagnostic assessment, collaboration, and adaptive teaching practices as coping mechanisms. The study concluded that teacher preparedness, positive attitudes, and effective challenge management were essential to ARAL implementation. It recommended continuous professional development, adequate resources, flexible scheduling, stronger stakeholder collaboration, and regular monitoring. The study supported Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting equitable learning recovery and collaborative educational interventions. Its sustainability contribution emphasized institutional capacity building, educational continuity, and strengthened stakeholder participation for long-term program implementation.

Teachers’ Classroom and Instructional Management, and Students’ Learning Engagement

Jelamarie D. Rafols; Maria Lilibeth G. Castil International Journal of Global Goals and Sustainable Development, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pp. 166-179 https://doi.org/10.65339/ijggsd.v1.i1.17

چکیده

This study examined the classroom and instructional management practices of new and experienced teachers and their relationship with students’ learning engagement in selected public secondary schools in Cortes District, Division of Bohol, during School Year 2026–2027. Anchored in the Classroom Management Scripts Model, Instructional Clarity Framework, Multidimensional Student Engagement Framework, and Huberman’s Teacher Career Cycle, the study employed a quantitative comparative-correlational research design. Respondents comprised 15 new teachers, 46 experienced teachers, and 278 students, totaling 339 participants. Data were gathered using a researcher-modified, validated, and pilot-tested questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson product–moment correlation, and independent-samples t-tests. Results revealed consistently high classroom and instructional management practices among both teacher groups, with no statistically significant differences. Classroom management and instructional management exhibited a strong positive relationship (r = 0.724, p < 0.001), whereas neither classroom management (r = 0.040, p = 0.760) nor instructional management (r = −0.062, p = 0.635) was significantly associated with students’ overall learning engagement. Students taught by new teachers demonstrated significantly higher overall and emotional engagement (p = 0.017), while behavioral and cognitive engagement showed no significant differences. The study concluded that teaching experience alone does not determine management effectiveness and that favorable management practices do not necessarily correspond to higher student engagement. A school-based professional development program emphasizing mentoring, collaborative lesson planning, peer observation, and instructional improvement was proposed. The study supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting effective teaching, inclusive learning environments, and continuous professional growth. Its educational and institutional sustainability contribution lies in providing localized evidence to guide sustained professional development and improvements in students’ learning experiences.
