Workplace Stress, Mental Health and Job Satisfaction among Entry-Level Managers in India: A Correlational Study

R Senthil Kumar; Saptarshi Sengupta International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1722-1728 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261025120315

چکیده

Entry-level managers are usually promoted for their technical skills and are then expected to meet targets, lead teams and resolve conflicts with little preparation for the role. This study examined the relationship between workplace stress, mental health and job satisfaction among entry-level managers in Indian organizations. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected through an online questionnaire from 47 managers with up to five years of managerial experience across finance, manufacturing, IT/ITES, healthcare and service operations. Most participants reported moderate workplace stress (61.7%), while nearly half (46.8%) reported high job satisfaction. Workplace stress was positively correlated with mental health difficulty (r = .641) and negatively correlated with job satisfaction (r = -.477), and mental health difficulty was negatively correlated with job satisfaction (r = -.536), all at p < .01. Stress explained 41% of the variance in mental health difficulty, and mental health explained 29% of the variance in job satisfaction. When both were considered together, only mental health remained a significant predictor of satisfaction. The findings suggest that the mental health of new managers is central to their job satisfaction and point to the need for training, mentoring and psychological support early in a managerial career.

Pressy Catharine C A International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1742-1745 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261025181430

چکیده

Background: Mothers of young children with neurodevelopmental disorders may experience substantial parenting demands, but their recent positive mental well-being varies. Objective: To examine the association between parenting stress and psychological well-being among mothers of children aged 0?6 years diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders. Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional correlational study analyzed 85 mothers using the 18-item Parental Stress Scale (PSS-18) and the WHO-5 Well-Being Index. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and a Spearman sensitivity analysis were reported. Results: Mean PSS-18 was 67.55 (SD = 4.73), and mean WHO-5 transformed score was 64.85 (SD = 12.92). Parenting stress was negatively correlated with well-being (Pearson r = -0.675, 95% CI [-0.777, -0.540], p < .001). Spearman correlation was also negative (? = -0.634, p < .001). Conclusion: Greater reported parenting stress was associated with lower recent subjective well-being in this sample. The cross-sectional design does not establish causation. These findings underscore the relevance of attending to caregivers? psychological experiences alongside child-focused services.

Perceived Parental Pressure and Academic Stress Among School Students Aged 16-18 Years in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu

Renugadevi Sivalingam International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1756-1758 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261025064653

چکیده

Academic expectations can be an important part of adolescent development, but students may experience these expectations as pressure. This study examined perceived parental pressure and academic stress among school students aged 16-18 years in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, and assessed the association between the two variables. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design was used. Convenience sampling yielded 61 consenting students. Data were collected through an online structured questionnaire containing a 20-item perceived parental-pressure measure and a 30-item academic-stress measure. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, and Pearson's product-moment correlation were used. The mean perceived parental-pressure score was 52.31 (SD = 17.07), and the mean academic-stress score was 85.62 (SD = 22.59). Internal consistency was high in this sample (α = .95 and .96, respectively). Perceived parental pressure was positively associated with academic stress, r = .38, p = .003, 95% CI [.14, .57]. Students reporting greater perceived parental pressure tended to report greater academic stress. Because the study was cross-sectional and used a convenience sample, the findings do not establish causation and should not be generalised to all adolescents. The results highlight the value of realistic academic expectations, supportive family communication, and accessible school-based student support.

Parental Overprotection and Anxiety among Adolescents: A Correlational Study

Shabna Mariyam International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1802-1805 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261026141829

چکیده

Parental overprotection, which combines high control with low encouragement of autonomy, has been linked to anxiety in young people, but findings are mixed. This correlational, cross-sectional online survey examined whether adolescents? reports of parental overprotection were related to their anxiety. Participants were 86 school-going adolescents aged 13 to 18 years (M = 15.58, SD = 1.60; 43 girls, 40 boys, 3 who preferred not to say), recruited by convenience (snowball) sampling. They completed the brief current form of the Parental Bonding Instrument (overprotection = control minus autonomy items, averaged across mother and father) and the child version of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED). Overprotection was not significantly related to anxiety, Spearman ρ(82) = .09, 95% CI [-.13, .30], p = .415, and results were similar for mothers, fathers, and in sensitivity analyses. The study could detect only correlations of about .30 or larger, and the overprotection scores had low reliability, so the result is inconclusive. Anxiety scores were high: 79.1% scored at or above the SCARED cut-off of 25. Larger samples and more reliable measures are needed.

Caregiver Burden, Anxiety and Depression among Primary Caregivers of Patients with Chronic Mental Illness

Chaithra Padmasree; Kavya Vijayan International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1809-1814 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261026183224

چکیده

Family members who provide daily care for people with chronic mental illness often carry substantial emotional, social and financial strain. This study examined caregiver burden, anxiety and depression among primary caregivers of patients with chronic mental illness, and tested whether burden was related to anxiety and depression and whether these outcomes differed by age, gender and relationship to the patient. A cross-sectional correlational design was used with a purposive sample of primary caregivers recruited through psychiatric outpatient and community rehabilitation settings in Bengaluru (planned n = 100; 105 complete records analysed). Burden was assessed with the 22-item Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), and anxiety and depression with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Because scores departed from normality, Spearman correlations, permutation-based Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests and Holm-adjusted Dunn comparisons were used. The mean ZBI score was 32.37 (SD = 15.96); 77.1% of caregivers scored in at least the mild-to-moderate burden band, 59.0% had HADS anxiety scores of 8 or higher and 60.0% had HADS depression scores of 8 or higher. Burden correlated strongly with anxiety (rs = .810) and depression (rs = .816), Holm-adjusted ps < .001. Relationship to the patient was significantly associated with burden, anxiety and depression (adjusted ps < .001), with parent caregivers scoring highest, whereas age and gender differences did not survive correction for multiple testing. Findings are provisional because of an unresolved sample-size discrepancy and the cross-sectional, self-report, non-probability design. The results support routine screening of caregivers? psychological health, with particular attention to parent caregivers, alongside caregiver-focused psychoeducation and counselling.

Parental Attachment and Emotional Regulation in Young Adults: A Quantitative Correlational Study

Muhammed Rashid TA International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1821-1824 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261026155952

چکیده

Parental relationships remain an important aspect of psychological functioning throughout our lives. However, little research has been carried out examining their relationship with emotional regulation in non-clinical populations. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived parental attachment and emotional regulation in young adults using a quantitative non-experimental correlational design. An online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographics and 30 Likert scale statements, 15 statements relating to parental attachment (1-15) and 15 statements relating to emotional regulation (16-30) was completed. From the sample of 102 responses exported, 1 case did not give consent and so were removed from analysis, giving a total of 101 complete cases. Reverse scoring was applied to negatively worded statements. Mean scores for parental attachment were 51.83 (SD = 12.15). Mean scores for emotional regulation were 49.42 (SD = 8.41). Internal reliability for parental attachment was high with a Cronbach?s alpha score of .877. Internal reliability for emotional regulation was acceptable with a score of .767. There was a significant positive association between parental attachment and emotional regulation (r(99)=.511, 95% CI [.35, .64], p<.001). Approximately, 26% of variance appeared to be shared between the two variables. Young adults with higher levels of perceived parental attachment (closeness, trust and open communication) reported higher levels of emotional regulation. As this study used a correlational design, this represents an association rather than a causal relationship. Overall, the findings provide evidence to take a relational approach and consider individuals within their context in counselling psychology.

Psychological Wellbeing among Individuals Living with Autoimmune Conditions: A Cross-Sectional Study

Reena Behera International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1836-1838 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261026150058

چکیده

Autoimmune conditions may affect wellbeing through symptoms, treatment demands, uncertainty and disruption to daily activities. This cross-sectional study examined subjective psychological wellbeing among adults living with autoimmune conditions and its association with illness-related factors. The project reports data from 21 participants. Wellbeing was measured using the World Health Organization Five Well-Being Index (WHO-5), scored from 0 to 100, alongside a researcher-developed illness-impact questionnaire. The reported mean WHO-5 score was 31.05 (SD = 21.61; median = 32; range = 0?88). Illness duration was not significantly associated with wellbeing (r = .043, p = .857; n = 20). Greater perceived severity (ρ = -.587, p = .005), treatment burden (ρ = -.519, p = .016) and interference with daily activities (ρ = -.754, p < .001) were associated with lower wellbeing. The gender comparison was not statistically significant (U = 53.0, p = .299). These preliminary results require verification against the anonymized dataset. The small, mixed-diagnosis sample and cross-sectional design limit generalizability and causal interpretation.

Parenting Styles and Socio-Emotional Behaviour of Children Aged 6-12 Years in Andhra Pradesh: A Correlational Study

Pendam Vasu International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1847-1849 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261026183955

چکیده

The relationship between parenting behaviour and children's socio-emotional functioning is well documented in Western samples, yet evidence from primary-school-age children in Andhra Pradesh, India, is limited. This cross-sectional correlational study examined whether parent-reported authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive parenting were related to children's total difficulties and prosocial behaviour. Fifty parents of children aged 6-12 years completed an online 25-item researcher-developed questionnaire. Most parents (86%) reported predominantly authoritative behaviour. Authoritative parenting was unrelated to prosocial behaviour (r = .06) and difficulties (r = -.03), and authoritarian parenting was unrelated to difficulties (r = .13), so the main hypotheses were not supported. Authoritarian parenting was negatively correlated with prosocial behaviour (r = -.37, p = .009), and children from joint families scored higher on prosocial behaviour than children from nuclear families (d = 0.70). Scale reliability was low (α = -.21 to .28), so the findings are tentative. Validated tools and larger samples are needed.

Imposter Phenomenon and Career Anxiety in Final-Year Students

Vidhi Dwivedi International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1898-1900 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261027154042

چکیده

The present study examined the relationship between imposter phenomenon and career anxiety among final-year students in India. A quantitative correlational design was adopted with a sample of 36 final-year students (10 males, 26 females) selected through convenience sampling. Standardized measures included the Clance Imposter Phenomenon Scale and a self-constructed Career Anxiety Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson?s correlation, and independent-samples t-tests. Results revealed a significant moderate positive correlation between imposter phenomenon and career anxiety (r = .45, p = .006). Female students reported slightly higher scores on both constructs, but gender differences were not statistically significant (p > .05). Findings suggest that imposter feelings contribute to career anxiety and may inform career counselling interventions in college settings.

Coping Strategies and Psychological Well-Being among Indian IT Professionals: A Narrative Review with a Gender Lens

Atin Sehgal International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1932-1937 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261027113758

چکیده

Information technology (IT) professionals in India work under tight deadlines, long hours, job insecurity and rapid technological change, and Indian studies report substantial levels of stress, depressive symptoms and burnout in this group. How employees cope may help explain why some function well under these conditions while others do not. This narrative review synthesises research on coping strategies and psychological well-being among Indian IT professionals, drawing also on studies of other Indian occupational groups and international technology workers, with particular attention to gender. The evidence shows that approach-oriented strategies such as planning, active coping, positive reframing, acceptance and seeking support are generally associated with better well-being, whereas denial, behavioural disengagement, substance use and self-blame are associated with poorer well-being. Gender findings are inconsistent: some studies report higher stress or burnout among women, while others find no gender difference in depression, anxiety or well-being. Most studies are cross-sectional, use differing measures and were conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The review identifies the need for strategy-level analysis of coping, gender-balanced samples, research in under-studied IT hubs such as Gurgaon, and longitudinal designs.

Online Learning Readiness, Student Engagement, and Retention Intention among Higher Education Students in Kuwait

Suhyl M; Chethana R Acharya International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1938-1940 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261027030559

چکیده

Background: Online learning outcomes may relate to students? preparedness and participation, but intention to continue is distinct from verified institutional retention. This study examined the associations among online learning readiness, student engagement, and retention intention among higher-education students in Kuwait. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional questionnaire was administered online from 1-20 September 2026. The supplied dataset included 100 complete responses recruited through personal contacts and community WhatsApp groups. Readiness (20 items), engagement (24 items), and a broad continuation-related index (19 items) were scored as mean Likert responses. Analyses included descriptive statistics, internal consistency, Pearson and Spearman correlations, and a joint regression with HC3 robust coefficient inference. Results: Mean readiness was 4.398 (SD 0.716), engagement 4.353 (SD 0.727), and the broad continuation-related score 4.258 (SD 0.762), on a five-point scale. Pairwise associations were positive: readiness-engagement, r = .890; readiness-retention intention, r = .792; and engagement-retention intention, r = .832 (all p < .001). In the joint model, engagement remained positively associated with the outcome (B = 0.643, HC3 95% CI 0.382-0.903, p < .001), while the readiness coefficient was uncertain (B = 0.262, 95% CI -0.025-0.549, p = .073). The model explained 70.6% of sample variance; this is not evidence of out-of-sample prediction. A narrower, exploratory direct-intention item subset showed a similar pattern. Conclusion: In this convenience sample, higher self-reported readiness and engagement co-occurred with stronger continuation intentions, with engagement showing the more stable adjusted association. Cross-sectional self-report data, unvalidated item sets, influential observations, and nonprobability recruitment preclude causal or population-wide conclusions. No subsequent enrollment was measured; formal ethics approval was not obtained and requires transparent institutional guidance before publication.

Academic Stress, Anxiety, and Self-Efficacy among Undergraduate Students

Hakeem Abdul Rahim International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1943-1945 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261027213715

چکیده

Academic stress is a significant psychological and educational concern among undergraduate students because university study involves high academic workload, frequent examinations, strict performance expectations, overlapping deadlines, adjustment to new learning environments, and crucial decisions about future careers. Anxiety may increase substantially when students perceive academic demands as exceeding their available coping resources, whereas self-efficacy refers to students' internal beliefs about their capability to successfully organize and execute courses of action required to manage academic tasks. The present study proposes to examine the complex relationship among academic stress, anxiety, and self-efficacy among undergraduate students. A quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational research design will be used. Undergraduate students meeting the inclusion criteria will be recruited using an appropriate non-probability sampling technique. Data will be collected using a demographic information sheet and standardized self-report measures of academic stress, anxiety, and general/academic self-efficacy. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression will be used to examine the study variables. The findings may assist counselling psychologists, student-support services, faculty members, and educational institutions in identifying modifiable psychological factors relevant to undergraduate adjustment.

Parenting Attitude, Parental Stress, and Anxiety in Mothers: A Correlational Study

Nihma Nasreen TP; Preethi x International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1946-1950 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261028140231

چکیده

Mothers handle everyday discipline while also carrying the strain and worry of the parenting role, yet these experiences are often studied separately. This study examined the relationships between parenting attitude, parental stress, and anxiety among mothers. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was used with a convenience sample of 59 mothers, who completed a 30-item questionnaire rated on a five-point Likert scale. Parenting attitude was assessed through three discipline dimensions based on the Parenting Scale (laxness, over-reactivity, and verbosity), and parental stress and anxiety were each assessed with ten statements developed for the study. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, and Pearson and Spearman correlations. Mean scores were 3.30 (SD = 0.54) for parenting attitude, 3.06 (SD = 0.89) for parental stress, and 3.16 (SD = 0.72) for anxiety. Parenting attitude correlated positively with parental stress (r = .52, p < .001) and anxiety (r = .44, p < .001), and parental stress correlated with anxiety (r = .51, p < .001). Over-reactivity and verbosity were more closely related to stress than laxness was. Internal consistency was high for the stress (α = .91) and anxiety (α = .88) scales. The findings suggest that discipline difficulties, stress, and worry tend to occur together in mothers, although the design does not permit causal conclusions. Support programmes for mothers may benefit from addressing stress and worry alongside parenting skills.

Effects of Cyberbullying Exposure on Emotional Regulation and Mental Health in Adolescents

Aysha Zaba; Chethana R Acharya International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1951-1954 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261018200254

چکیده

Cyberbullying has become an important concern for adolescent well-being because online harassment can continue beyond school settings and expose young people to repeated social stress. This study examined the relationships between cyberbullying exposure, emotion-regulation strategies, and mental health among adolescents. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was used with 100 secondary-school adolescents aged 13-18 years (M = 15.42, SD = 1.38). Measures included the Cyber-Victimization Scale (CYBVICS), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), and Early Adolescent Mental Health Scale (EAMHS). Descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlations, and simple linear regression analyses were reported. Cyberbullying exposure was negatively correlated with cognitive reappraisal (r = -.42, p < .001) and mental health (r = -.58, p < .001), and positively correlated with expressive suppression (r = .48, p < .001). Cognitive reappraisal was positively associated with mental health (r = .51, p < .001), whereas expressive suppression was negatively associated with mental health (r = -.46, p < .001). Regression analysis indicated that cyberbullying exposure accounted for 33.6% of the variance in mental-health scores, R? = .336, F(1, 98) = 49.68, p < .001. The findings indicate meaningful associations among online victimization, emotion regulation, and adolescent well-being. Because the study is cross-sectional and relies on self-report measures, the findings do not establish causality.

A Comparative Study of Anxiety Levels and Manifestations Among Early and Late Adolescent Students

Pavitra Mohan Gunaga International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1955-1960 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028210337

چکیده

This quantitative comparative investigation evaluated and contrasted levels of state-trait anxiety and generalized anxiety symptoms between early and late adolescent cohorts (N = 100). A cross-sectional comparative survey design was employed using standardized psychometric instruments: the 40-item State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 scale (GAD-7). Non-parametric Mann-Whitney U tests and chi-square independence analyses revealed no statistically significant differences in overall anxiety scores between early and late adolescents across all dimensions (p > .26). However, over 47% of participants across both groups met clinical severity cut-offs ?10on GAD-7). State and trait anxiety demonstrated a robust positive association (? = 0.81, p < .001). The findings underscore an urgent imperative for universal, stage-independent psychological screening and preventive mental health frameworks within educational environments.

A Correlational Study of Parenting Attitude, Parental Stress, and Anxiety in Mothers

Haleema Shabnam B International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1984-1988 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028164236

چکیده

Mothers often manage everyday discipline while also carrying the strain and worry that come with raising a child, yet these experiences are rarely studied together in Indian samples. This study examined the relationship between parenting attitude, parental stress, and anxiety in mothers. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was used with 59 mothers selected through convenience sampling. Participants completed a 30-item questionnaire rated on a five-point Likert scale, in which parenting attitude was assessed through three dimensions (laxness, over-reactivity, and verbosity), and parental stress and anxiety were each assessed with ten study-developed items. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, and Pearson's correlation, with Spearman's rank correlation as an additional check. Mean scores were 3.30 (SD = 0.54) for parenting attitude, 3.06 (SD = 0.89) for parental stress, and 3.16 (SD = 0.72) for anxiety. Significant positive correlations were found between parenting attitude and parental stress (r = .52, p < .001), parenting attitude and anxiety (r = .44, p < .001), and parental stress and anxiety (r = .51, p < .001), and all three remained significant in a sensitivity analysis. Over-reactivity and verbosity were more strongly related to stress than laxness was. The findings suggest that difficulties in discipline, parenting strain, and worry tend to occur together, and that support for mothers could address emotional strain alongside parenting skills.

Assessing the Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy among Patients with Severe Anxiety Disorder

Nusrath M International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1995-1998 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028220633

چکیده

Anxiety symptoms can cause distress and interfere with social, occupational, and everyday functioning. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a structured psychological intervention widely used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. This manuscript is based on the dissertation titled "A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Among Patients with Severe Anxiety Disorder". The dissertation reports Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) results for 20 participants: 12 (60%) were in the minimal or "not at all" category, five (25%) in the mild category, two (10%) in the moderate category, and one (5%) in the severe category. These findings describe the anxiety-severity profile of the sample. The available results do not include verified pre-treatment and post-treatment scores, a comparison-group analysis, or inferential statistics sufficient to establish CBT effectiveness. The reported data therefore cannot demonstrate that CBT reduced anxiety in this sample. Findings should be interpreted cautiously because of the small sample and limited information about recruitment, participant characteristics, and intervention delivery.

Impact of Online Classes on Students with Learning Disabilities

Mubassira K C; Chethana R Acharya International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1999-2000 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028131731

چکیده

Online learning can improve access to educational materials, but it may also create additional demands for school-aged learners who experience learning disabilities. This study examined perceived academic, emotional, behavioural, and adaptation-related outcomes of online classes among students in Grades 1-10 with learning difficulties, drawing on student, parent, and teacher reports. The dissertation describes a quantitative, cross-sectional survey involving 95 participants and the use of the Learning Disabilities Checklist (LDC), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Online Learning Readiness Scale (OLRS), and a researcher-developed questionnaire. Reported findings indicate difficulties with attention, comprehension, task completion, and motivation in online settings, alongside lower perceived academic performance than in traditional classrooms. Parent and teacher reports were associated with students? reported learning difficulties. A significant association was reported between student and teacher reports, χ2(1, N = 95) = 20.5, p < .001, φ = .465; a similar association was reported for student and parent reports, χ2(1, N = 95) = 21.0, p < .001, φ = .471. Student and parent reports of emotional wellbeing were also positively correlated, ρ = .674, p < .001. The findings suggest that online learning requires structured routines, accessible teaching materials, trained educators, and coordinated family-school support to better accommodate learners with learning disabilities. Results should be interpreted cautiously because detailed descriptive scores and an effect estimate for the academic comparison were not reported consistently in the dissertation.

Intolerance of Uncertainty and Psychological Distress among Emerging Adults

Dubey Jyoti Jagdish International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2011-2013 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261028080211

چکیده

This study examined the association between intolerance of uncertainty and psychological distress among emerging adults aged 18-29 years. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was used with online convenience sampling. Of 181 survey submissions, one record was excluded because age was missing and one because the respondent was aged 17 years; a further 18 respondents who reported a previous mental-health diagnosis were excluded. The final analytical sample comprised 161 participants (M age = 23.60, SD = 3.09; 67.1% women). Intolerance of uncertainty was measured with the 12-item Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS-12), and nonspecific psychological distress with the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Mean IUS-12 and K10 scores were 32.11 (SD = 9.44) and 24.31 (SD = 8.09), respectively. Internal consistency estimates were .887 and .913. Pearson's correlation indicated a positive association between IUS-12 and K10 scores, r(159) = .632, p < .001, 95% CI [.529, .717]. Spearman's correlation was also positive and significant (rs = .595, p < .001, 95% bootstrap CI [.475, .699]). Higher intolerance of uncertainty was associated with greater self-reported psychological distress in this sample. The cross-sectional design, convenience sampling, self-report measures, and diagnosis-based screening limit causal inference and generalisability.

Nisha Rawat International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2023-2027 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028185939

چکیده

Emotional contagion refers to the process through which people's emotions may be influenced by the emotional states and expressions of others. This study examined self-reported responses to stress in other people and explored their association with perceived stress. A quantitative, cross-sectional online questionnaire was completed between October 25 and 27, 2026. Of 33 submissions, 32 participants consented and were included in the emotional-response analysis; 31 had sufficient responses for the preliminary perceived-stress analysis. The questionnaire included 15 researcher-developed statements about responses to others' stress and 10 perceived-stress questions resembling the Perceived Stress Scale?10 (PSS-10). Descriptive results showed that 90.6% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they could sense stress in people around them, while 75.0% reported that stress in family, workplace, or educational settings affected their emotional well-being. An exploratory Spearman correlation indicated a positive association between the emotional-response composite and perceived-stress scores (rs = .526, p = .002, n = 31). This association must be interpreted cautiously because the emotional-response questionnaire was not validated and the exact perceived-stress instrument requires confirmation. Findings provide preliminary descriptive insight but do not establish causation.

Adult Attachment Orientations among University Students

Neha Agrawal; Shivanand Pawar International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2045-2049 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261029115733

چکیده

This study examines adult romantic attachment among university students, focusing on attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design was used, involving 50 students aged 18 to 28 years. Data were collected through an online questionnaire using the 12-item Experiences in Close Relationships?Short Form (ECR-S). The results showed moderate attachment anxiety (M = 3.78, SD = 1.03) and low-to-moderate attachment avoidance (M = 3.16, SD = 0.90). A weak positive correlation was observed between the two dimensions (r = .16, p = .264), but the relationship was not statistically significant. Exploratory analysis identified a statistically significant difference in attachment avoidance across years of study, while the observed gender difference in attachment anxiety was not statistically significant. These demographic findings require cautious interpretation because of the small subgroup sizes. Overall, participants reported greater concern about rejection than discomfort with emotional closeness. The findings support examining attachment anxiety and avoidance as distinct dimensions of romantic attachment. However, the small convenience sample, reliance on self-reported responses, and cross-sectional design limit the generalisability of the results. Further research involving larger and more diverse student populations is recommended to examine attachment patterns and their relationship with demographic and interpersonal factors.

Carrying the Weight of the Exam: Stress, Coping, and Help-Seeking Among Civil Services Aspirants in Thiruvananthapuram

Jinaraj B International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2050-2052 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261029181550

چکیده

Preparing for the Civil Services Examination is long, costly, and uncertain, yet little research has listened to aspirants in India's Tier 2 cities. This descriptive survey asked 523 aspirants enrolled in coaching in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, about their stress, coping, attitudes to professional mental-health support, and the support their institutions offer. More than half (55.8%) called the past month very or extremely stressful, and financial strain, family expectations, and fear of judgement were prominent. Aspirants coped through peers, breaks, and planning, yet 84.3% felt they had not found a strategy that worked. Most (90.6%) thought professional help reasonable, but only 23.9% had used it, mainly held back by fear of peer judgement, cost, and confidentiality worries. Most (84.1%) rated stress-related support from their institutions as inadequate or absent. The findings are descriptive, not causal, and suggest support should change the conditions of preparation as well as strengthen individual coping.

Association Between Psychiatric Disorders and Age of Onset: A Pilot Cross-Sectional Study of 50 Cases

Athira Mohan M.O. International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2064-2067 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261030010453

چکیده

Background: Psychiatric disorders differ in their typical age of onset, but evidence describing onset patterns in small clinical samples from Kerala, India, is limited. This pilot study examined the association between diagnostic group and age of symptom onset and described the interval between symptom onset and first diagnosis. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using 50 consecutively sampled patient records from psychiatric outpatient and inpatient services at VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, Kerala. Diagnoses were based on DSM-5 criteria. Data included age at symptom onset, age at first diagnosis, sex, source of onset information, family psychiatric history, comorbidity, and medical or neurological conditions. Descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests were used; inferential analyses were considered exploratory. Results: Participants included 30 males and 20 females; mean current age was 35.14 ± 15.36 years. Mean age at symptom onset was 26.02 ± 14.83 years (median 25.5; range 1-72), and 28% reported onset before age 18. Age of onset differed across ten diagnostic groups (Kruskal-Wallis H = 28.58, df = 9, p < 0.001). Median onset was earliest in neurodevelopmental disorders (3.5 years) and latest in neurocognitive disorders (66 years). Median onset-to-diagnosis interval was one year (interquartile range 0-4); 14% waited six years or longer. Earlier onset correlated with a longer interval to diagnosis (Spearman ? = -0.350, p = 0.013). No significant sex difference in onset age was observed. Conclusion: The findings suggest distinct onset patterns across diagnostic groups in this clinical sample and indicate that some patients experience prolonged diagnostic delays. Larger, multicentre studies are required to confirm these exploratory results.

AI Companionship and Psychological Well-Being Among Gen Z Adults: A Cross-Sectional Correlational Study

Dhruti Gajiwala International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2068-2070 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261029233607

چکیده

This study examined the relationship between AI companionship- operationalized as attachment anxiety and avoidance toward AI- and psychological well-being among 50 Gen Z adults (aged 18-29) in India. Using the Experiences in Human-AI Relationships Scale (EHARS) and the WHO-5 Well-Being Index, the study found no significant associations between attachment to AI and well-being. These findings, though limited by sample size and design constraints, contribute to the growing literature on human-AI relationships in non-Western contexts.

A Safe Space to Heal: Psychotherapy as a Relational Therapeutic Space Across Psychological Disorders and Neurodiversity

Shireen Sanobar; Richa Gupta International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2111-2114 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261028072218

چکیده

Psychotherapy is supported by evidence across several psychological conditions, yet its value cannot be understood solely through symptom change. This thematic integrative review examines psychotherapy as both an intervention and a relational setting in which psychological safety, trust, collaboration, and self-understanding may support change. Literature discussed in the source synopsis is organized around three themes: psychotherapy outcomes across mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and personality difficulties; the therapeutic alliance and safety; and adapted, neurodiversity-affirming support for autistic people. Meta-analytic and theoretical literature generally supports psychotherapy effectiveness, while alliance research identifies the therapeutic relationship as a robust correlate of outcomes. Work on autistic youth suggests that adapted interventions can be beneficial, although outcomes and methods vary. Across these areas, the review identifies a need to connect clinical outcomes with clients? lived experience of safety, identity, accessibility, and agency. The review is integrative rather than systematic: the source material does not document reproducible database searches, screening counts, or formal quality appraisal. Accordingly, conclusions are interpretive and should not be treated as a comprehensive estimate of treatment effects. The paper argues for therapeutic spaces that combine evidence-informed care with collaborative, individualized, and affirming relationships.

Classroom Behaviour and Social Adjustment among School Students: A Theoretical Perspective

M Athira; Shivanand x International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2115-2118 https://doi.org/10.21275/mr261029221149

چکیده

Children's behaviour and social adjustment within the classroom are important considerations. Behaviour can refer to how a pupil engages with learning tasks, follows instructions, works with others and interacts within the classroom. Social adjustment can relate to how children feel they fit in, build friendships, communicate effectively and feel included. Although behaviour and social adjustment are two distinct areas, they will be influenced by each other. This conceptual article will discuss the relationship between behaviour and social adjustment for upper primary school students. Using theories such as ecological systems, social learning and sociocultural. School engagement, friendships and school belonging will also be discussed. It is important to consider how behaviour should be seen as more than just an individual trait. Family factors, teaching style, peer relationships, individual differences and school factors can influence how a pupil behaves. A strength based approach to children's behaviour and social adjustment will be advocated. The article will conclude with key implications for classroom settings and recommendations for future research. Future research should be culturally aware, developmentally appropriate and ethical. This article is theoretical and will not give any findings.

Psychological Adaptation and Intervention Strategies for Generations Alpha and Beta: A Comparative Study on Evolving Lifestyles and Mental Health Needs

Sayyed Hashim International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2119-2121 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261029112315

چکیده

Generation Alpha (born 2010-2024) and Generation Beta (born 2025-2039) represent an unprecedented developmental archetype defined by total digital integration and ubiquitous artificial intelligence (AI). This empirical study evaluated specialized psychological adaptation mechanisms, parenting models, and mental health intervention frameworks across these cohorts. Utilizing a mixed-methods design, quantitative data were gathered from $N = 300$ parents (Gen Alpha parents and expectant/early Gen Beta parents) using the Modified Parental Stress Scale (PSS) and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), supplemented by qualitative interviews with $N = 20$ pediatric mental health experts. Independent samples $t$-tests confirmed that Gen Alpha/Beta display significantly higher digital dependency anxiety ($M = 38.60, p < .001$) alongside superior visual-spatial intelligence ($M = 44.10, p < .001$) relative to normative baselines. Crucially, a proactive "Digital Integration" co-navigation parenting framework yielded significantly lower parental stress ($M = 29.50$) compared to rigid "Digital Detox" restriction models ($M = 42.80, p < .001$). A preventive clinical framework focusing on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and cognitive impulse management is proposed.

The Role of Attachment Styles in Adult Relationships

Gouri T International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 2122-2126 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261030152611

چکیده

This study explored attachment-related responses and self-reported relationship experiences among adults. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted using an online questionnaire; the supplied response file contained 57 records. The questionnaire included demographic questions, 12 attachment-related statements, six relationship-experience statements, and an optional open-ended question about healthy relationships. Descriptive statistics were calculated. For exploratory analysis, four items concerning fear of rejection and reassurance were averaged into an anxiety-related index, and four items concerning emotional disclosure, closeness, and independence were averaged into an avoidance-related index. These researcher-created indices are not validated psychological scales. Spearman rank correlations were used to examine associations with relationship-experience ratings. The six-item relationship-experience composite had a mean of 3.65 on a 1-5 scale. The anxiety-related index was positively associated with the composite (ρ = .315, p = .017), as was the avoidance-related index (ρ = .430, p = .001), contrary to the initially anticipated negative direction. Since the items were not validated, no reverse-scoring was applied, and the sample was a convenience sample with uneven demographic representation, these findings must be interpreted cautiously. They do not establish causation or justify classifying individuals by attachment style.
