Digital technologies can expand opportunities for language practice, feedback, and access to learning materials, but their educational value depends on how they are integrated into instruction. This conceptual article draws on a selective narrative review to examine automatic speech recognition, conversational agents, machine translation, and virtual environments in language learning. It distinguishes the functions of these technologies from the learning outcomes that teachers must evaluate. The discussion identifies opportunities for pronunciation practice, sustained interaction, reflective revision, and contextualized communication, alongside problems involving unreliable feedback, cognitive demands, unequal access, and personal data. Alpha School is considered briefly as an institutional illustration of adaptive learning and human guidance, rather than as evidence of foreign-language learning effectiveness. Four proposed classroom applications show how teachers can connect digital activity to observable language performance. The article argues that responsible integration requires clear learning objectives, appropriate scaffolding, human review of feedback, and opportunities to demonstrate learning beyond the original tool. Its contribution is a practical framework for evaluating instructional use; the proposed applications require subsequent classroom investigation.
The article aimed to explore learning styles, approaches and differentiated learning strategies in English language teaching process. We include the introduction of new foreign language learning approaches, strategies and styles from other sources, as well as disseminating and gathering strategy ideas from the learner´s peers. Different students are likely to approach the task of learning language in different ways. Some learners may instinctively fell that there is a benefit to studying the rules and patterns of a language, while others may be less inclined to formal study and prefer learning in more experiential manner, where they use the language to achieve tasks and goals. The extent of students’ achievement may be influenced by some factors, which one of them is learning style and approach. The experience and studies show that most of the students prefer ‘reflective’, ‘sensing’, ‘visual’, and ‘sequential’ learning styles, individualised (or personalised), self-directed learning, autonomy approach in English language learning. With an appropriate range of resources, materials and pedagogic support, where students would set their own language learning purposes and would be supported to reach these goals in ways which are effective, which are of real interest to them and which can co-exist with each student´s lifestyle, not just their learning style.
Arabic vocabulary learning for early childhood is an important effort to introduce a foreign language through enjoyable learning activities that are appropriate to children's developmental characteristics. However, conventional learning methods often make children less enthusiastic, resulting in limited Arabic vocabulary mastery. This study aims to describe the use of the Picture Magic Lamp learning media in improving the Arabic vocabulary of children aged 5-6 years at TK Adz-Dzakia Pangkalpinang. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The participants were children aged 5-6 years at TK Adz-Dzakia Pangkalpinang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The picture magic lamp media was implemented by asking children to identify the displayed colors and mention their names in both Indonesian and Arabic. The findings revealed that the use of the picture magic lamp media increased children's learning interest, active participation, and ability to recognize and pronounce Arabic color vocabulary. Therefore, the Magic Lamp media can be used as an effective and engaging learning medium to improve Arabic vocabulary mastery among early childhood learners.
Play-based parent-child interaction offers preschoolers rich opportunities for everyday foreign language learning, yet many parents struggle to turn open-ended play into effective English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) learning experiences at home. To explore how AI might support this process, we conducted formative studies through interviews and a Wizard-of-Oz study. We identified four key challenges: content selection, language expression, balancing instruction and play, and problem solving. To address these challenges, we present PAPEL, a parent–AI collaborative system that grounds suggestions in the ongoing play scene and organizes support into four core modules: content generation, language adaptation, balance assessment, and extended response. In a counterbalanced within-subjects study with 16 parent–child dyads, PAPEL was associated with more integrated parent utterances that combined playful and instructional content, as well as more parent–child conversational turns, than the lightweight chatbot baseline used in our study.
