OBJECTIVE: Evaluate test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity of the Norwegian version of the Pediatric Family Needs Questionnaire (FNQ-P). DESIGN: Test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity. Subject/patients: Parents/caregivers of children (6-17 years) with ABI in the chronic phase who participated in the Child in Context Intervention (CICI) study. METHODS: Internal consistency was assessed with Cronbach's alpha, while test-retest reliability was explored with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), t-tests, and coefficients of variation. Standard error of measurement and minimal detectable change were also assessed. Construct validity in relation to Matrices and Similarities from WISC-V, Health and Behavior Inventory (HBI), Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-2 (BRIEF-2), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), Tool to Measure Parenting Self-Efficacy (TOPSE), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7(GAD-7) was explored with correlation coefficients. RESULTS: Test-retest reliability of the total mean FNQ-P score was good (ICC = 0.84). Internal consistency was excellent with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.98. Construct validity was confirmed. The only significant correlations were weak correlations with parent anxiety (GAD-7) and child's emotional functioning (PedsQL). CONCLUSION: The Norwegian FNQ-P has good psychometric properties and can be used to obtain reliable and valid data regarding family needs.

Human cognition is unique. Our large brains and advanced cognitive skills indicate intense selection following the divergence from other hominins. Theoretical models and empirical data from the last few decades suggest that human intelligence primarily serves a social function. However, explaining precisely how human cognition is adapted for navigating the complexities of social life has proved challenging. This preregistered study empirically examines the recently proposed Coalitional Intelligence Hypothesis , which posits that the behavioral effects of human intelligence evolved as reliable signals of coalitional value, facilitating adaptive reciprocal exchanges of status and cognitive-computational services. This study also introduces the first Norwegian translation of the International Cognitive Ability Resource 16-Item Sample Test (ICAR-16), which we developed for use as our cognitive ability measure. Analysing a new dyadic dataset using the actor-partner interdependence mediation model, we found that coalitional value, operationalized in terms of ability to coordinate a group, fully mediates status allocated based on cognitive ability. These findings provide initial empirical support for the Coalitional Intelligence Hypothesis.
