The advancement of digital technology has led to increased use of the internet and social media, particularly among adolescents. However, this development has also contributed to various challenges, one of which is cyberbullying. A low level of digital literacy knowledge may influence how students communicate and behave in digital environments. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of digital literacy knowledge and cyberbullying behavior among high school students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 99 students were selected as research participants using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire, while the relationship between the variables was analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a high level of digital literacy knowledge (59.6%), while the majority demonstrated a low level of cyberbullying behavior (57.6%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between the level of digital literacy knowledge and cyberbullying behavior (p-value = 0.001). Thus, the better the students' level of digital literacy knowledge, the lower their tendency to engage in cyberbullying behavior. Therefore, strengthening education and understanding of digital literacy should be enhanced as a preventive strategy to reduce the occurrence of cyberbullying in school environments.
Background Optimizing self-care decision-making is important for healthy aging, chronic disease management, and health promotion in rapidly aging populations. However, the absence of culturally validated instruments limits the systematic assessment of decision-making styles and the development of person-centered health management strategies for older adults in China. This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Inventory of Self-Care Decision-Making Styles of Older Adults (DECIDE) and evaluate its psychometric properties among Chinese older adults. Methods This study was conducted in two phases. In phase 1, the DECIDE was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Chinese using Brislin’s forward-backward translation procedure. Expert review and pilot testing were conducted to refine linguistic clarity and cultural relevance. In phase 2, a multicenter cross-sectional validation study was conducted from November 2025 to January 2026. A total of 3,470 older adults were recruited through multicenter convenience sampling from 15 cities in Sichuan, Liaoning, Zhejiang, and Hunan provinces, China. Psychometric evaluation included item analysis, validity assessment, and reliability testing. Results All 20 items met the prespecified retention criteria, and the Chinese version retained the four-dimensional structure of the original DECIDE. Content validity was satisfactory, with I-CVI values ranging from 0.800 to 1.000 and an S-CVI of 0.950. Exploratory factor analysis yielded four factors explaining 65.73% of the common variance, and confirmatory factor analysis supported the resulting model (CMIN/DF = 2.513, RMSEA = 0.028). The AVE and CR values ranged from 0.502 to 0.588 and from 0.834 to 0.877, respectively, and the findings supported both convergent and discriminant validity. Cronbach’s α, split-half reliability, and 2-week retest reliability for the total inventory were 0.896, 0.790, and 0.861, respectively. Conclusion The C-DECIDE demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties in this multicenter convenience sample of older adults from four Chinese provinces. It may support the assessment of self-care decision-making styles and inform individualized health education, decision-support strategies, and public health-oriented chronic disease management for older adults.
Introduction Effective community health promotion requires information about residents’ health-related characteristics and the interpersonal, environmental, organizational, and policy supports they perceive. The Multidimensional Assessment Scale for Social-Ecological Healthy Communities MASE-HC was designed as a multidimensional resident-reported instrument, not as a unidimensional measure or an objective community-level rating. We report its development and initial psychometric evaluation. Methods Items were generated through literature review, a two-round Delphi survey, content-validity assessment, and cognitive interviews. A purposive sample of 412 adult community residents was recruited from one community health service center in Anhui Province, China. Subsample 1 ( n = 206) was used for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, and Subsample 2 ( n = 206) was used for confirmatory factor analysis, convergent and discriminant validity assessment, and hypothesis-based associations with self-rated health. Internal consistency was evaluated in the total sample ( n = 412). Results Data from 412 participants were analyzed. EFA identified a six-factor solution for the final 39-item MASE-HC, accounting for 61.411% of the variance. The final CFA specified six correlated first-order factors and did not evaluate a higher-order general factor. After four post-hoc within-factor residual covariances were added, the refined model showed generally acceptable fit (χ 2 /df = 1.741, RMSEA = 0.060, SRMR = 0.0649, CFI = 0.906, TLI = 0.898, and IFI = 0.907); TLI was marginally below 0.90. The Fornell–Larcker criterion was satisfied for all six factors, whereas convergent validity and internal consistency were comparatively weaker for Diet and Nutrition. Self-rated health was positively associated with five of the six subscales. Conclusion The MASE-HC showed preliminary support for a six-factor multidimensional structure in the present sample. The Diet and Nutrition subscale requires further refinement, and independent psychometric evaluation and replication in larger, more representative samples are needed before routine use or any community-level comparison.
Introduction An unhealthy diet is a major modifiable risk factor for non-communicable diseases. Higher levels of food literacy facilitate the adoption of healthy dietary behaviours; therefore, the development and validation of assessment tools are crucial for public health and clinical practice. However, existing assessment tools are fragmented, and there is a lack of systematic analysis regarding dimensional evolution, cross-cultural adaptation, and practical implementation pathways. Materials and methods This scoping review employed the Arksey and O’Malley framework along with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Seven databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Wanfang, SinoMed, CNKI, and VIP) were searched for studies published between January 1, 2015, and November 16, 2025. Using descriptive content analysis, we synthesized evidence regarding how these tools have evolved, how they are adapted across cultures, and how they may be applied in practice. Result A total of 28 studies involving 21 assessment tools were included; 13 were newly developed tools, and eight were culturally adapted or validated tools. The analysis identified three major findings: (1) Food literacy assessment tools commonly incorporated four core domains: skills, knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes, with some instruments extending beyond individual competencies toward broader social, environmental, and food-system-related dimensions; (2) Cultural adaptation strategies were descriptively summarized into three categories: language and semantic adaptation, structural and measurement adaptation, and conceptual and value embedding, while deeper integration of culturally embedded meanings remained limited; (3) Most tools had limited evidence regarding implementation in real-world community or clinical settings, particularly concerning the linkage between assessment results and subsequent interventions or nursing practice. Conclusion Food literacy assessment tools have continued to expand in dimensional scope and cultural adaptation approaches. However, many tools remain focused on measuring static individual competencies and provide limited insight into how food-related capabilities are applied within real-life contexts. Future research should prioritize contextualized assessment approaches, implementation studies in community and clinical settings, and evaluation of the relationships between assessment results and health outcomes. Strengthening collaboration among nurses and other healthcare professionals may facilitate the translation of food literacy assessment into individualized and context-sensitive interventions.
Background Sexual health literacy refers to an individual’s capacity and proficiency in managing sexual health. Currently, there are limited instruments available to assess sexual health literacy among undergraduate students, particularly in Thailand. Thus, the current study aimed to develop and psychometrically validate the sexual health literacy measurement tool for undergraduate students (SHL-US) in Thailand. Methods The study involved 1,235 undergraduate students from public and private universities in Thailand. A multi-stage probability sampling design was used, with simple random selection of institutions (one public and one private university per region, across four regions), faculties, and classrooms, followed by complete enumeration of eligible, consenting students within the selected classrooms. A pilot test (n = 50) and exploratory factor analysis (n = 300) preceded the confirmatory sample (n = 1,235). Thirteen experts examined the content validity. The quality of the instrument was tested by examining its psychometric properties using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Results Forty-nine items entered the EFA; 47 were retained (4 factors, 53.17% variance explained). CFA removed two more low-loading items (<0.50), yielding the final 45-item, four-factor structure: access (12), understanding (12), appraisal (10), application (11). Additional internal consistency analysis yielded satisfactory results, with an overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.976. The item-total correlation (ITC) was 0.284–0.755, and content validity, assessed via the content validity index (CVI), was high (CVI = 0.94). Confirmatory factor analysis, using the item set confirmed against the CFA diagram and retaining only correlated residuals with genuine item-content justification, supported an acceptable four-factor structure. The four domains were strongly inter-correlated, suggesting they are best interpreted and scored as facets of a single overarching SHL construct rather than fully independent subscales. Conclusion The SHL-US (45 items) showed acceptable four-factor fit and good internal consistency, though the four domains behave as correlated facets of one SHL factor rather than separable competencies. Used as a single overall score, it shows potential for assessing sexual health literacy among Thai undergraduates.
