Indri Meilia; Andriyanto; Boniran; Nyaman Jurnal Pendidikan Sains Sosial dan Agama (Dharma Edukasi), 2026, Vol. 2, Issue 2, pp. 146-157 https://doi.org/10.66791/dharmaed.v2i2.2611

چکیده

This study was motivated by low learning outcomes in Buddhist Religious Education and Character Building at SMKS Bakti Pangkalpinang: 82.35% of students had not achieved mastery in Semester 1 and 58.82% in Semester 2, presumably related to differing learning styles and low viriya (perseverance). This study analyzed the influence of learning styles and viriya on learning outcomes, partially and simultaneously, using a quantitative ex post facto approach on 58 of 68 students (Slovin formula, purposive sampling). Data were collected via a Likert questionnaire and outcome documentation, analyzed using multiple linear regression (IBM SPSS 25); instruments were valid-reliable and the model met the classical assumption tests. Results: Y = 15.479 + 0.747X1 + 0.297X2. Learning styles (t = 7.510; sig. = 0.000) and viriya (t = 2.993; sig. = 0.004) each had significant positive partial effects, and jointly significant effects (F = 74.112; sig. = 0.000) with an Adjusted R Square of 0.720 (72.0%). Learning styles were the most dominant, contributing 55.14%, underscoring the importance of appropriate learning styles and strengthened viriya.

Ana Lourdes B. Clavero; Pepa V. Pontillas; Gerlinda G. Corpuz; Jovit D. Comon American Journal of Arts and Human Science, 2026, Vol. 5, Issue 4, pp. 90-106 https://doi.org/10.54536/ajahs.v5i4.8845

چکیده

This study examined the relationship between teachers’ pedagogical approaches and the Kindergarten learners’ reading performance in selected schools in the Division of Cagayan de Oro. It assessed five approaches: context support, ICT integration, language experience, phonemic awareness, and the whole-word approach. It also evaluated learners’ performance in comprehension, phonics, and vocabulary. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study involved 115 Kindergarten teachers and 230 learners. Data were gathered through a modified questionnaire and standardized test, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient. The findings revealed that teachers demonstrated a very high level of pedagogical approaches, with the whole-word approach rated highest and language experience lowest. Meanwhile, learners achieved satisfactory reading performance, with comprehension as their strongest area and vocabulary as their weakest. However, no significant relationship was found between teachers’ pedagogical approaches and learners’ reading performance. The study concluded that teachers were well-equipped to facilitate reading instruction through various strategies. It recommended providing more opportunities for learners to connect reading and writing activities with their personal experiences, interests, and real-life situations. Teachers were also encouraged to explore alternative instructional practices that address learners’ specific reading needs and improve their overall reading performance.

Kansas City Brain Builders: associations between a multisectoral community language nutrition intervention and change in practices and growth in child language over two years

Charles R. Greenwood; Gabriela Guerrero; Alana G. Schnitz; Sandra Cintora; Christine Giancola; Judith J. Carta Frontiers in Public Health, 2026, Vol. 14, pp. 1986929 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpubh.2026.1986929

چکیده

Background and objectives Health literacy in adulthood plays a major role in an individual’s ability to use health information to benefit their health. Social determinants in early childhood initiate the development of health literacy through newborn brain development and oral language acquisition. Both of these processes are promoted by stimulation from everyday interactions with parents/caregivers at home and in the community. Unequal access to language-learning opportunities during early childhood represents a modifiable developmental and social determinant of later educational and health outcomes. There are inequities in these time-sensitive interactions—specifically language-learning opportunities—across families in the population, which are social determinants of early literacy, achievement in school, and later-life education, health, and economic and social well-being across the life span. This gap is most pronounced among children who grow up in poverty in the United States and internationally. The healthcare system in the United States effectively reaches to nearly all infants; however, language-learning opportunities are not a focus during well-child visits. The term “Language Nutrition” (LN) was coined in prior research to refer to these developmentally rich interactions known to support brain and language growth in children younger than preschool age. We developed Kansas City Brain Builders (KCBB) to address this inequity by promoting LN broadly among families and children in a community so that all children have a more equitable home language environment. The purpose of this study is to report longitudinal empirical findings on families and children related to the implementation of KCBB, a public health approach to community change, over 2 years. Methods The evaluation involved two parallel longitudinal studies: the Community study and the Family study. The Community study assessed the implementation of a KCBB multisectoral community partnership to promote LN-friendly changes in local programs, practices, and policies. The Family study involved longitudinal assessments of a sample of 83 English- and Spanish-speaking families with children younger than 36 months of age, evaluating the KCBB impacts on parental behaviors and child growth in language skills. Results KCBB led to a high level of documented program implementation and substantial LN promotion throughout the community. Repeated parent assessments indicated that participants had received LN messages from multiple community sectors over time, increased their knowledge of the importance of LN, and used LN through storybook reading, verbal responsiveness, and teaching behaviors during interactions with their children. Growth in children’s early language skills was significantly associated with the amount of LN they received. Discussion/Conclusion KCBB is one of the few multisectoral interventions designed to promote community-wide change targeting LN. It is a manualized intervention that can be replicated by other communities. This study employed three levels of measurement such that change could be evaluated in a theoretical framework of influence from community engagement to parental behavior and growth in child language skills. Findings provide preliminary evidence that a multisectoral community approach can achieve broad reach and is associated with changes in caregiver practices and child language growth. Larger, controlled, and replicated studies are needed to establish causal effects and determine whether such approaches reduce disparities in language-learning opportunities.

Wearable monitoring of pre-shot heart rate in youth golfers: a potential mental-load correlate in ecological putting practice

Jasper Gielen; Katrien Buysse; Elise Heirman; ROMAIN R. MEEUSEN; Jean‐Marie Aerts Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1939721 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1939721

چکیده

Introduction Information and communication technologies, including wearable sensors, offer accessible and ecological ways to support psychological processes underpinning technical practice in sport, such as the regulation of attention, arousal and mental load. The aim of this exploratory study is to examine whether heart rate (HR) and physical activity (PA), recorded with a chest-worn wearable, can serve as a potential, indirect correlate of the mental load experienced during golf putting training. Two research questions were of interest: (i) Do pre-shot HR and PA differ between made and missed putts? (ii) Do pre-shot HR and PA differ following a made compared with a missed putt? Methods Seven youth golfing athletes (13–16 years old; handicap (hcp) index < 12) performed a putting training exercise in which the goal was to score five consecutive putts from 3-metre distance to the hole. HR and PA were recorded continuously and matched with putting performance using video footage. Pre-shot HR and PA were taken as the mean over the 5 s before ball contact. Because the putts are nested within sessions and athletes, the analyses combine within-athlete non-parametric tests, corrected for multiple comparisons and reported with effect sizes, with linear mixed-effects models treating athlete and session as random effects. Results Pre-shot HR and PA do not differ significantly between made and missed putts (mixed-model estimate for HR: +0.09 bpm, 95% CI [−0.46, 0.64]; p = 0.76). However, pre-shot HR is higher following a made putt and lower following a missed one (+5.08 bpm, 95% CI [4.54, 5.62]; p < 0.001), an association that persists after adjusting for the pre-shot HR of the preceding putt. PA shows the opposite trend. Discussion Because no subjective ratings of mental load, arousal or affect were collected, mental load remains one plausible interpretation of this pattern rather than an established one. Pending validation against such measures, the approach could offer coaches and athletes an exploratory starting point for conversations about how training situations are experienced, and illustrates how continuous monitoring of HR may provide a potential indirect correlate of mental load in youth golfers.

Processing event nominalizations in developing readers: eye-tracking evidence from bilingual and dyslexic readers

Maria Vender; Ilaria Venagli; Andrea Nardon; Sabrina Piccinin; Serena Dal maso; Chiara Melloni Frontiers in Language Sciences, 2026, Vol. 5, pp. 1912839 https://doi.org/10.3389/flang.2026.1912839

چکیده

Introduction Event nominalizations are a central feature of academic language: they compress complex events into nominal structures, increasing informational density while reducing the transparency of thematic-role assignment. The present eye-tracking study examined whether nominalizations impose greater processing demands than corresponding active and passive constructions in developing readers, and whether these effects vary across readers with different linguistic and literacy profiles. Methods Seventy-nine fifth- and sixth-grade children participated in the study: 28 typically developing monolingual Italian children, 21 monolingual Italian children with developmental dyslexia, and 30 typically developing bilingual children with migrant background and Italian as the societal language. Participants silently read short passages in which the same target event was expressed either as a nominalization, a passive construction, or an active construction, and then answered comprehension questions while their eye movements were recorded. Accuracy, standard eye-movement measures, and scanpaths were analyzed to capture comprehension outcomes and online reading strategies. Results Nominalizations did not significantly reduce comprehension accuracy, but they affected online processing during both initial reading and the question-answering phase. Scanpath dissimilarity was higher for nominalizations than for both verbal constructions during initial reading, and than for passives during question-answering in correctly answered trials. In these trials, nominalizations were also associated with a higher probability of partial rescanning and a lower probability of minimal rescanning relative to active texts, indicating greater reliance on rereading when answering questions correctly. Moreover, children with dyslexia showed a generalized increase in processing effort, whereas bilingual children displayed an intermediate profile, with increased reliance on rereading during question-answering. Discussion These findings indicate that nominalizations significantly influence online reading processes even when questions are answered correctly, suggesting additional demands in retrieving information about event participants. Overall processing patterns differed across reader groups, and children with dyslexia showed the greatest effort in both online reading and question-answering.

Evolution of the educational system and micro-psychological mechanisms: a comparative study of academic motivation and engagement in Shanghai, China and Kazakhstan

Zhan Zhou; Aigul Alchimbayeva; Xiaogang Jin Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 2005404 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.2005404

چکیده

Introduction As noted in successive OECD assessment reports, global education systems are shifting from standardized assessments toward prioritizing students’ psychological wellbeing and autonomous agency. However, cross-cultural quantitative evidence regarding how these macro-policy transformations relate to students’ micro-psychological perceptions and academic behaviors remains limited. Methods Utilizing a cross-sectional survey, this study analyzed data from 1,309 university students in Shanghai, China, and Kazakhstan. Multi-Group Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were employed to examine the structural associations and measurement invariance among Perceived Educational Transformation (PET), Intrinsic Motivation (IM), and Learning Engagement (LE). Results The three-factor model demonstrated strict measurement invariance across both samples. SEM findings indicated that IM partially mediated a significant indirect associative mechanism the positive structural relationship between PET and LE (indirect effect = 0.098, 95% CI [0.076, 0.122]). This statistical mediating pathway was consistent across both cohorts, showing only trivial inter-group differences (all parameter Δ p > 0.05). Baseline comparisons revealed the Shanghai sample reported higher PET, yet IM and LE levels exhibited no significant quantitative differences between the two groups (Cohen’s d < 0.10). Discussion Higher perceptions of educational transformation do not linearly correspond to enhanced motivation, potentially constrained by unobserved systemic evaluation pressures. The findings suggest that autonomy-supportive educational environments are consistently associated with higher Intrinsic Motivation and academic engagement, regardless of differentiated macro-educational contexts. However, due to the cross-sectional design, these findings represent structural associations rather than directional causality.

Comparative EEG analysis of Sutra and Tantra meditations: insights into meditative states and long-term traits

J. A. Boytsova; Ngawang Norbu; Lodoe Sangpo; Elena Kokurina; Chhoktan Lama; Tanzin Chhonden; … Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1846053 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1846053

چکیده

Introduction The Tibetan Buddhist tradition distinguishes between two broad categories of meditation: Sutra and Tantra, which differ in the methods and mental faculties they employ. The main neurophysiological studies of Tibetan Buddhist meditation have been conducted mostly on Sutra practices; while Tantric meditation remains less studied. Methods This publication presents a dual comparative study, using both between-groups and within-subjects design, of the neurophysiological (EEG) correlates characterizing Sutra and Tantra meditative practices, examining both the meditative states and the meditative traits. The study was carried out within the natural environment of Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in India, maintaining the socio-cultural context. Two groups of long-term practitioners (Buddhist monks of Gelug lineage), one experienced in the Tantra tradition (T-group, n = 21) and the other in the Sutra tradition (S-group, n = 20) participated in the study. Results A between-group cluster permutation test revealed that the groups differed in EEG alpha power during meditation, as well as in baseline resting conditions before and after meditation. Specifically, T-group demonstrated consistently lower alpha power compared to the S-group, regardless of the conditions. Thus, the observed differences are stable characteristics of the groups. The within-subjects analysis demonstrated that the conditions (meditation, and baseline resting states before and after meditation) differed only in the T-group: during meditation, an increase in individual alpha peak frequency (iAPF) was observed in the occipital leads, followed by a decrease in iAPF after meditation. Discussion We suggest that reported between-group differences represent enduring meditative traits developed through years of training in meditative techniques in the Sutra and Tantra traditions. Nevertheless, we cannot entirely exclude the possibility that these variations may also stem from certain cohort-specific characteristics unrelated to meditation. An examination of individual power spectra revealed that the absence of significant differences in EEG spectral power between conditions can be primarily attributed to the inter-individual variability in both groups. This variability, in turn, may stem from extensive expertise of highly experienced practitioners, who over years of training, develop individualized cognitive strategies for maintaining the meditative state. Our future research will focus on a more detailed quantitative analysis of inter-individual variability during meditations and on identifying additional between-group differences among practitioners in different traditions.

Instagram Use Intensity and Academic Performance Among Medical Students: The Mediating Role of Grit

Anastasia Kumala; Mohammad Ayodhia Soebadi; Lilik Herawati Al-Rafidain Journal of Medical Sciences, 2026, Vol. 11, Issue 2, pp. 206-213 https://doi.org/10.54133/ajms.v11i2.3326

چکیده

Background: The increasing use of Instagram among medical students has raised concerns about its potential impact on academic performance. However, existing evidence remains inconsistent, and researchers have not yet fully understood the psychological mechanisms underlying this relationship. Objective: To evaluate the association between Instagram use intensity and academic performance while investigating the mediating role of grit. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted among 128 third-semester medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. Instagram use intensity was measured using the Instagram Intensity Scale Questionnaire (IISQ), and grit was assessed with the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S). The assessment of academic performance was conducted through pharmacology and biochemistry block examination scores, the semester grade point average (SGPA), and the cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Correlation analyses, group comparisons, and mediation analysis using PROCESS Macro Model 4 with bootstrap resampling were performed. Results: Instagram use intensity was not significantly associated with any academic performance measure (p>0.05). However, it was negatively associated with grit (r= −0.276, p=0.002), whereas grit was positively associated with all academic outcomes (all p<0.001). Mediation analysis demonstrated significant indirect effects of Instagram use intensity on pharmacology and biochemistry examination scores, SGPA, and CGPA through grit, indicating full mediation. Conclusions: Instagram use intensity was not directly associated with academic performance. Instead, its influence operated indirectly through grit, suggesting that interventions promoting perseverance and self-regulated learning may be more beneficial than strategies focused solely on reducing Instagram use.

Outdoor Play Facilities and Their Potential to Support Gross Motor Development in Early Childhood

Firda Siti Nurjanah; Wulan Nurlaela; Garosha Putri Rahmadina; Ridzkia Qothrunnada Indonesian Journal of Early Childhood Education Studies, 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 1 https://doi.org/10.15294/ijeces.v15i1.39131

چکیده

Gross motor development is an important aspect of early childhood development that requires stimulation through various play activities. The availability of outdoor play facilities can provide children with opportunities to engage in a variety of movements appropriate to their developmental stages. This study aims to examine the potential role of outdoor play facilities in stimulating the gross motor development of young children, using the facilities available at TK Wijaya Kusumah as a contextual reference. This study employs a library research method with content analysis. The sources reviewed include relevant national and international journal articles and reference books. Unstructured observations and documentation of the outdoor play facilities at TK Wijaya Kusumah were used to provide contextual information about the facilities discussed. The findings indicate that various types of equipment, including tire stepping paths, swings, slides, spinning bowls, wobbly bridges, monkey bars, seesaws, and balance beams, offer different types of movement activities and have the potential to stimulate muscle strength, balance, movement coordination, agility, and postural control. The use of these facilities should consider children's developmental stages, equipment safety, and teacher supervision. This review provides an overview of the potential of various outdoor play facilities to stimulate gross motor development and may serve as a reference for teachers and early childhood education providers in designing play environments. Since this study is based on a literature review and does not directly assess children's motor abilities, the findings cannot establish a causal relationship between the completeness of outdoor play facilities and children's gross motor development.

Food craving in a cultural context: behavioral and electrophysiological evidence from Indian and Western food sets

Subhajit Das; Avishek Chatterjee; Satyaki Mazumder; Koel Das Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1940439 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1940439

چکیده

Introduction Food craving is a ubiquitous experience, often shaped by cultural familiarity. Although craving may be considered a culture-bound construct, its neural and behavioral underpinnings across food cultures remain limited. Here, we examined the effects of multisensory food exposure on craving in an Indian population, comparing Indian and Western foods across sweet and savory categories. Methods In Experiment 1 (Indian Food Craving; IFC), participants viewed Indian sweet and savory food images before and after multisensory exposure, reporting desire and willingness-to-pay (bid) ratings along with Food Craving Questionnaire-State (FCQ-S) scores. EEG was recorded using a 64-channel system. In Experiment 2 (Western Food Craving; WFC), participants completed a similar paradigm using Western food items. Results Multisensory exposure significantly increased FCQ-S scores in both experiments, indicating successful craving induction. Behaviorally, desire and bid ratings increased for both sweet and savory Indian foods, whereas for Western foods, increases were observed only for sweet items. ERP analyses revealed increased P200 and N200 amplitudes following exposure to Indian sweet foods, while LPP amplitudes increased for savory foods across both Indian and Western food categories. Complementary MVPA revealed enhanced pre- vs. post-exposure classification for sweet foods during the early (0–300 ms) window for both Indian and Western foods, whereas both sweet and savory foods showed significant classification during the later(300–600 ms) window. Discussion Together, these findings suggest that multisensory exposure modulates food-cue processing in a stimulus- and time-dependent manner, with possible contributions from attentional processes. Overall, the findings highlight the influence of food type and cultural context on craving-related neural and behavioral responses.

Effectiveness of ARAL-Reading Tool on Learners’ Reading Fluency and Comprehension

Mariam May Albutra Cagatin; Bernarda R. Villarojo International Journal of Sustainable and Integrated Studies, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 3, pp. 983-991 https://doi.org/10.65339/ijsis.v1.i3.240

چکیده

This study evaluated the effectiveness of the ARAL-Reading Tool in improving reading fluency and comprehension among Grade Six learners in the Third District of Bohol during School Year 2025–2026. Anchored on Automaticity Theory, Schema Theory, and Sociocultural Theory, the study employed a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control-group design involving 15 purposively selected learners. Seven learners received the eight-week ARAL-Reading Plus intervention, while eight received regular reading instruction. Data were gathered using the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) and the Division of Bohol District Reading Assessment Template. Descriptive statistics and paired-samples and independent-samples t-tests were employed. Before the intervention, both groups demonstrated Frustration-level performance in reading fluency and comprehension. Following the intervention, the experimental group achieved 98.48% in fluency and 85.71% in comprehension, while the control group obtained 96.21% and 57.14%, respectively. Both groups demonstrated significant pretest-posttest improvements. However, between-group comparisons revealed a significant difference in comprehension (p = .019), but not in fluency (p = .185). The findings indicate that the ARAL-Reading Tool supported reading development, particularly comprehension. Strengthening structured reading interventions, instructional resources, teacher support, parental involvement, and continuous assessment was recommended. The study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by addressing foundational literacy gaps and promoting equitable learning opportunities. Its contribution to educational and institutional sustainability emphasizes evidence-based reading interventions, stakeholder collaboration, and continued support for improving elementary learners' literacy outcomes and strengthening school-based educational recovery initiatives. The findings also provide a basis for school heads and education officials to refine implementation, allocate resources, and monitor reading progress.

چکیده

This study assessed the reading comprehension skills and academic performance in English of Grade 3 learners in selected public elementary schools in the Albuera District, Department of Education (DepEd), Schools Division of Leyte, Region VIII, during School Year 2025–2026, as a basis for developing interactive reading activities. A descriptive-quantitative research design was employed, involving six teachers and 90 learners from six public elementary schools. The learners were selected through simple random sampling. Data were gathered using a structured paper-and-pencil questionnaire covering respondents’ profiles, learners’ performance in five reading comprehension strategies, academic performance in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and storytelling, and the issues and concerns encountered in implementing reading comprehension activities. Frequency counts, percentages, and weighted means were used to analyze the data, together with a test of association to examine the relationships between instructional strategies and learners’ academic performance. The findings revealed that the strategies used in reading comprehension obtained an overall average weighted mean of 3.26, interpreted as Highly Effective. Story mapping and the use of photographs received the highest ratings, with weighted means of 3.30 each, followed by activating prior knowledge at 3.23 and monitoring and clarifying at 3.20. In terms of academic performance, learners demonstrated a lack of mastery in noting details (M = 2.20), decoding (M = 2.23), phonics (M = 2.40), vocabulary (M = 2.30), and storytelling (M = 2.40). The findings further revealed that monitoring and clarifying and the use of photographs had statistically significant associations with selected academic competencies, whereas activating prior knowledge and story mapping did not demonstrate significant associations with the measured competencies. The specific association coefficients and p-values were not available in the supplied results. These findings highlight the need to strengthen learners’ foundational reading skills, particularly identifying details, decoding words, applying phonics, developing vocabulary, and organizing narratives. Based on the findings, interactive reading activities are proposed for consideration and implementation by the concerned school officials, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and the DepEd Schools Division of Leyte, to address learners’ literacy needs and improve their reading comprehension and academic performance.

Parenting Styles and Children's English-Speaking Ability in Four Bilingual Families: A Qualitative Study

Dinda Hanifa Dewi; Suci Kintamani; Bunga Istianah Maulida; Dara Dwi Kencana Indonesian Journal of Early Childhood Education Studies, 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 1 https://doi.org/10.15294/ijeces.v15i1.30702

چکیده

Parenting practices may shape young children's opportunities to develop English-speaking skills in bilingual family environments. This study aimed to explore parenting styles and parental communication practices in relation to children's English-speaking ability in four bilingual families in Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through online semi-structured interviews with parents, naturalistic observations of parent-child interactions, and children's English-speaking activities, including storytelling and picture description. The findings indicated that three families demonstrated characteristics of authoritative parenting, including emotional warmth, regular language activities, and active parental involvement. These practices were accompanied by children's reported willingness and confidence to speak English. In contrast, one family demonstrated a more permissive approach, with less structured language exposure and less active parental involvement. The findings also highlighted the role of responsive communication, shared educational media activities, and consistent opportunities to use English in everyday interactions. Given the small sample and qualitative design, the findings provide contextual insights rather than evidence of causal effects. This study highlights the potential importance of supportive parenting practices in creating opportunities for young children to use English in bilingual family settings.

Metacognitive disengagement and knowledge innovation quality in human–AI collaboration: the mediating role of cognitive offloading and the moderating roles of task complexity and AI literacy

Wei Xiao; Cheng-Hao Men; Jia-Cong ZHANG Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1975833 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1975833

چکیده

Generative artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the cognitive conditions of knowledge innovation. While human–AI collaboration improves the efficiency of knowledge production, it may also induce creators to outsourcing cognitive work to AI systems. This study conceptualized this tendency as task-level metacognitive disengagement, defined as the immediate reduction of planning, monitoring, and reflection within a specific AI-assisted task, and, drawing on metacognition theory, cognitive offloading theory and self-regulated learning theory, examined its impact on knowledge innovation quality, its psychological mechanism, and boundary conditions through four complementary experiments. Experiment 1 showed that higher AI assistance significantly increased metacognitive disengagement. Experiment 2 revealed that cognitive offloading partially mediated the relationship between AI assistance and metacognitive disengagement. Experiment 3 confirmed the negative effect of cognitive offloading on knowledge innovation quality, specifically on novelty, usefulness, and developability, with metacognitive disengagement partially mediating this effect. Experiment 4 tested the proposed moderated mediation model and found that task complexity strengthened, whereas individual AI literacy weakened, the negative indirect effect of cognitive offloading on knowledge innovation quality through metacognitive disengagement. These findings reveal a hidden cognitive cost behind the efficiency gains of human–AI collaboration and provide empirical evidence and theoretical implications for cultivating innovative talent and designing human–AI collaborative mechanisms in the era of artificial intelligence.

Study Habits, Learning Styles and Performance in Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH) among Junior High School Learners

Darwina B. Castillo; Gail G. Gumilet International Journal of Global Goals and Sustainable Development, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pp. 40-50 https://doi.org/10.65339/ijggsd.v1.i1.6

چکیده

This study examined the relationships among study habits, learning-style preferences, and academic performance in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) among Grade 10 learners of Solano High School, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, during School Year 2025–2026. Anchored in Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory and Biggs' Presage–Process–Product Model, the study employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design involving 300 learners selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using an expert-validated, researcher-made questionnaire and official first-quarter MAPEH grades, with descriptive statistics and Pearson's product-moment correlation used for analysis. Findings revealed high levels of study habits (M = 3.01) and learning-style preferences (M = 3.06), with concentration and interest emerging as the strongest study-habit dimension and tactile learning as the most preferred modality. Academic performance yielded a mean grade of 86.58, with most respondents attaining outstanding or very satisfactory ratings. A significant moderate positive relationship was established between study habits and learning styles (r = 0.635, p < 0.001). However, study habits (r = 0.277, p < 0.001) and learning styles (r = 0.135, p = 0.019) demonstrated statistically significant but negligible positive relationships with academic performance. Visual and auditory preferences showed significant positive correlations with academic achievement, whereas tactile and kinesthetic preferences showed no significant relationships. The study concludes that study habits and learning preferences have limited associations with MAPEH performance, highlighting the need for improved study routines, diverse instructional strategies, and further investigation of other contributing factors. The research supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and indirectly contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Its potential sustainability impact lies in strengthening educational practices, supporting evidence-based instructional improvement, and promoting long-term educational and institutional development.

Enhancing Student Engagement and Participation in Elementary Science and Social Studies through Teams Games Tournament Cooperative Learning

Fakhriansyah; Sri Wulan Anggraeni; Depi Prihamdani; anggy giri prawiyogi Journal of General Education and Humanities, 2026, Vol. 5, Issue 5 https://doi.org/10.58421/gehu.v5i5.2219

چکیده

Student engagement and participation are essential for interactive elementary science and social studies (IPAS) learning. Limited involvement in questioning, expressing opinions, and teamwork may hinder meaningful learning. This study examined changes in engagement and participation during the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model at SDN Karawang Wetan III. Classroom action research involved 30 students across a pre-cycle and two intervention cycles. Classroom observations assessed seven engagement and seven participation indicators. Descriptive analysis showed improvements in both outcomes. Engagement increased in attention, enthusiasm, active involvement, peer interaction, persistence, and responsibility. Participation improved in questioning, answering, expressing opinions, discussion, cooperation, tournament involvement, and task completion. Reported percentages represent mean indicator-level observation scores rather than proportions of students meeting specific criteria. The findings suggest that structured teamwork, academic games, and individual accountability can provide practical opportunities for collaborative IPAS learning. Teachers should establish clear team roles and encourage individual contributions and questioning. Because the study involved one school and two cycles without a control group, the findings are context-specific and do not establish causality. Future research should examine multiple schools, longer implementation, sustained improvements, and relationships with IPAS achievement.

Teachers’ Perspective and Preparedness Towards Online Learning in Social Studies

Leah Clotario; Lorenzo Capacio Psychology and Education A Multidisciplinary Journal, 2026, Vol. 64, Issue 8, pp. 1111-1122 https://doi.org/10.70838/pemj.640810

چکیده

The study aimed to find whether differences exist in the perspective of teachers towards online learning when grouped according to profile. Specifically, the study endeavored to describe the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment; determine the extent of teachers’ perspective towards online learning in the areas of access, interaction, response, and results; ascertain the level of teachers’ preparedness towards online learning in teaching social studies; and find out whether a significant difference exists in the preparedness of teachers towards online learning when grouped according to age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment. The study was conducted among the national high schools in the Division of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon for the School Year 2020-2021. A total of 96 Social Studies teachers were drawn from (6) national schools through purposive sampling. To gather relevant information needed for the study, the researcher adopted the questionnaire developed by Larsen (2012) and Lichoro (2015). Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and analysis of variance were used to treat the data. The majority of the teachers were in middle adulthood and were predominantly female. It is further revealed that most of them were single and bachelor’s degree holders. Access and interaction were observed in great extent, while responses and results were demonstrated in moderate extent, suggesting that the teachers’ perspective towards online learning showed certainty in the way they take online learning as a learning platform in this pandemic period. Similarly, teachers’ preparedness towards online learning yielded positive results in all indicators, implying that teachers consider online learning as a powerful tool for them to teach and support the learning of the students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. There was a significant difference in the preparedness of teachers when they were grouped according to age, where younger teachers are construed to be ready for this kind of learning delivery, while sex, civil status, and educational attainment did not show significant differences. This means that regardless of their characteristics in these three variables, their preparedness for online learning is the same. Thus, school administrators have to consider teachers to acquire new skills, sharpen existing ones, perform better, increase productivity and be better teachers in this new way of approaching learning.
