The integration of technology into elementary education has enabled teachers to design more engaging and interactive learning media. This study developed Canva-assisted interactive animated video media for teaching the water cycle in elementary integrated science and evaluated its validity and practicality. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed, utilizing the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection involved expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and teacher response questionnaires. The media was assessed by two media experts and three subject-matter experts. Results showed that the interactive animated video media achieved validity scores of 95% from media experts and 94% from subject-matter experts, both categorized as very valid. During implementation, 30 fifth-grade students and one classroom teacher participated. Practicality evaluation indicated positive responses, with student and teacher response scores of 87% and 97%, respectively, both classified as very practical. These findings indicate that the developed media is user-friendly for both teachers and students, enhances students’ attention, enthusiasm, and active participation in classroom learning, and supports visualization of the abstract concept of the water cycle. Thus, Canva-assisted interactive animated video media constitutes a valid and practical learning resource for elementary integrated science instruction.

Conceptual understanding of fractions among third-grade elementary school students remains a challenge because the topic is abstract and teacher-centered instruction provides limited opportunities for students to study materials independently and actively. The initial condition in Grade III of SD Negeri 077279 Si’őfabanua showed that only 4 of 21 students (19%) achieved the school mastery criterion of 70, with a class average of 60. This study aimed to describe the implementation of an animated video-based flipped classroom and determine its improvement in students’ conceptual understanding of fractions. The study employed Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model and was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 21 third-grade students, consisting of 10 boys and 11 girls. Data were collected through conceptual understanding tests, teacher and student activity observations, student response questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores and learning mastery percentages. The results showed that the average score increased from 60 in the pre-cycle to 68 in Cycle I and 76 in Cycle II. Learning mastery increased from 19% in the pre-cycle to 57% in Cycle I and 86% in Cycle II. Teacher activity increased from 61% to 88%, while student activity increased from 69% to 82%. Student responses in Cycle II reached 86%, categorized as very positive. Therefore, the implementation of an animated video-based flipped classroom improved students’ conceptual understanding of fractions and encouraged more active participation in learning.

Willdan Putra Daffa.S; Muhammad Suwignyo Prayogo; M.Siddan Abdilla; Abdul Jalal Edukasi Elita Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan, 2026, Vol. 3, Issue 4, pp. 212-222 https://doi.org/10.62383/edukasi.v3i4.3591

Learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) not only aims to improve students' conceptual understanding but also to foster awareness of energy-saving behavior in everyday life. However, understanding the importance of energy conservation is not necessarily followed by consistent implementation of these behaviors. This study aims to describe the use of animated media in IPAS learning and its role in building energy-saving awareness among elementary school students. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and was conducted at SDN Rambi Gundam 03 in September 2026, involving 30 fourth-grade students as observation subjects. Data were collected through learning observations and interviews with teachers. The results showed that students responded positively to the use of animated videos, characterized by enthusiasm and interest in participating in learning compared to learning that only relied on lecture methods. Students also began to understand simple actions to save energy, such as turning off lights when not in use. However, the implementation of energy-saving behaviors has not been consistent. These findings indicate that animated media has the potential to support IPAS learning about energy conservation, but it is not sufficient to prove its direct influence on changes in student behavior. Therefore, the use of animated media needs to be combined with habits and real-life activities so that students' understanding can be applied in everyday life.

Effects of the Interactive Multisensory Preoperative Orientation Program on Perioperative Outcomes in Children Undergoing Adenotonsillectomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Manrong Yu; Jingcao Wang; Yin Zhang; Xiaoyan SUN Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research, 2026, Vol. 30, Issue 4, pp. 1122-1137 https://doi.org/10.60099/prijnr.2026.281693

Perioperative anxiety and emergence delirium are common clinical challenges in children undergoing adenotonsillectomy, which can compromise post-surgical recovery and caregiver satisfaction. This single-center, parallel-group randomized controlled trial evaluated the effects of the nurse-led Interactive Multisensory Preoperative Orientation Program on perioperative outcomes in school-aged children aged 6–12 years undergoing elective adenotonsillectomy. Ninety children at a Grade III tertiary hospital in Anhui, China, were randomly assigned (1:1) to either a control group (n = 45) receiving standard perioperative care or an intervention group (n = 45) receiving the program in addition. Explicitly designed around Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory, our half-day intervention operationalized the four-stage experiential cycle through operating-room familiarization, interactive storybook debriefing, animated video discussion, and supervised procedural simulation with teach-back. The primary outcome was preoperative anxiety, measured via the modified Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale–Short Form. Secondary outcomes were measured using the Induction Compliance Checklist, the Pediatric Anesthesia Emergence Delirium Scale, and the Parental Satisfaction Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t‑tests, Mann–Whitney U tests, and Chi-square or Fisher's exact tests. Children in the intervention group demonstrated significantly lower preoperative anxiety scores, significantly improved anesthesia induction compliance, and a shorter duration of emergence delirium compared to the control group. Furthermore, parental satisfaction was significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group. The Interactive Multisensory Preoperative Orientation Program significantly reduces preoperative anxiety and emergence delirium, improves induction compliance, and enhances caregiver satisfaction. Nurses can readily integrate this theory-based program into clinical practice after further testing with different samples. Future multicenter trials should incorporate mediation analyses, cost-effectiveness evaluations, and potential moderators, such as parental anxiety, to further clarify mechanistic pathways.
