The present study investigated the predictive role of trait mindfulness in relation to depression, anxiety, and stress among Pakistani young adults. The following hypotheses were formulated: H1: Trait mindfulness will significantly and negatively predict depression among Pakistani young adults. H2: Trait mindfulness will significantly and negatively predict anxiety among Pakistani young adults. H3: Trait mindfulness will significantly and negatively predict stress among Pakistani young adults. A sample of 405 participants (189 males, 216 females; aged 18–30 years, M = 22.39, SD = 2.823) completed an online survey including the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). Reliability and normality assessments confirmed the adequacy of the measures. Linear regression analyses revealed that trait mindfulness significantly and negatively predicted depression (R² = .237, p < .001), anxiety (R² = .210, p < .001), and stress (R² = .201, p < .001). These findings were consistent with the hypotheses formulated and the theoretical perspectives. The study adds value to global evidence in relation to the Pakistani context, highlighting trait mindfulness as a preventive factor against negative emotions and emphasizing the need for culturally adapted mindfulness-based interventions to enhance psychological resilience among young adults.
Present study is directed to analizing general and interpersonal awareness among students of humanities, natural sciences and technical types of education (the sample consisted of 391 students aged 18-26 years, 83 % were female). The hypothesis of a higher level of mindfulness among students of the humanities was tested. It was revealed that all students, regardless of the field of education, received values of the degree of dispositional and interpersonal mindfulness within the average values. Statistically significant lower status of the components of mindfulness Observativon and Attention to self and others were revealed in students of the technical profile. The results obtained open up horizons for further research on the development of mindfulness within the framework of educational practices.
Immersive virtual reality (VR) and neurofeedback (NF) are increasingly promoted to enhance mindfulness meditation, yet it remains unknown whether these externally engaging technologies confer lasting benefits for trait mindfulness over sustained practice. This longitudinal randomized controlled trial compared three conditions over a 4-week program (eight sessions) with a three-month follow-up: screen-based audio-guided mindfulness (Non-VR), mindfulness in an immersive VR environment (VR), and mindfulness in VR with real-time EEG neurofeedback (VR-NF). Ninety-four meditation-naïve participants completed the study. Trait mindfulness (Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, FFMQ) was assessed at six time points, EEG signal was recorded during all sessions, and subjective presence (Igroup Presence Questionnaire, IPQ) in VR was measured. Linear mixed models and Bayesian analysis revealed comparable FFMQ increases across all three groups, indicating that VR and VR-NF did not confer added behavioral benefit for trait mindfulness development. Higher IPQ presence scores showed a modest negative correlation with long-term FFMQ gains at three-month follow-up. Exploratory EEG analyses described a numerically steeper theta trajectory in the Non-VR group relative to the VR and VR-NF groups, whereas alpha trajectories were comparable across groups. However, because the two EEG systems were not equivalent across conditions and recordings were obtained from frontopolar sites, these patterns are descriptive only and cannot be interpreted as evidence of group differences. Taken together, these findings suggest that VR and VR-NF did not confer added benefit for trait mindfulness in long-term mindfulness training.
