چکیده

This study is motivated by the declining use of sagata, a form of Lampung oral literature, due to the influence of global culture and reduced transmission of the local language to younger generations. It aims to describe the implementation of sagata instruction among fifth-grade students at MIN 10 Bandar Lampung, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and supporting/inhibiting factors. A qualitative descriptive approach was used. The subjects were three participants: one Lampung language teacher, one madrasah principal, and one fifth-grade student selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing; data validity was established through triangulation. Findings show that instructional planning was carried out systematically, covering module development, objective formulation, material selection, method selection, media preparation, and evaluation planning. Supporting factors included madrasah support, teachers’ roles, and student enthusiasm, while inhibiting factors included limited sagata-specific teaching materials, varying student vocabulary mastery, and the declining everyday use of sagata. Overall, sagata instruction has been implemented in a structured manner, though further strengthening of materials, media, and practice opportunities is needed to sustain its preservation through formal education.

Interpersonal emotion regulation and family functioning in the relationship between anhedonia and depressive symptoms in adolescents: a moderated mediation model

Qiwen Tang; Siyin Lin; Fanggui Tang Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1863238 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1863238

چکیده

A questionnaire survey was conducted with 1,635 students from two secondary schools in Hunan Province to examine the statistical roles of interpersonal emotion regulation and family functioning in the relationship between anhedonia and depressive symptoms in adolescents. The results showed that (1) after controlling for grade and gender, anhedonia was significantly and positively associated with depressive symptoms; (2) a continuous-variable model based on the full sample indicated a significant partial mediating effect of interpersonal emotion regulation on the association between anhedonia and depressive symptoms; and (3) family functioning moderated the association between anhedonia and interpersonal emotion regulation, such that lower family functioning scores (i.e., healthier family functioning) were associated with stronger conditional indirect effects linking anhedonia to depressive symptoms through interpersonal emotion regulation. When BDI-II-C Items 4 (loss of pleasure) and 12 (loss of interest) were removed from the depressive symptom total score and the analyses were repeated, the main results remained stable. An exploratory sensitivity analysis using the BDI-II-C cutoff revealed a significant mediating pathway in the below-cutoff group, whereas the regression association between interpersonal emotion regulation and depressive symptoms was not significant in the at-or-above-cutoff group. Given that grouping by the cutoff of the same dependent variable narrows the within-group score range and may affect within-group regression estimation, these subgroup results are reported only as exploratory sensitivity analyses. These findings suggest that interpersonal emotion regulation and family functioning are important factors in understanding the statistical association between anhedonia and depressive symptoms in adolescents.

Gamified Interface Design Enhances Student Engagement in Synchronous Video Conferencing Learning

Jun Mao; Terry Lucas WSEAS TRANSACTIONS on SYSTEMS archive, 2026, Vol. 25, pp. 711 https://doi.org/10.37394/23202.2026.25.57

چکیده

Synchronous video conferencing (VC) has become an established mode of higher education, but sustaining student engagement remains challenging, particularly in practice-oriented disciplines such as graphic design. This study examined the effects of three gamification mechanisms, including animated badges, experience points, and level upgrades, on behavioural, emotional, and cognitive engagement in synchronous VC learning. Guided by Self-Determination Theory (SDT), a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was implemented with 124 first-year graphic design students from three public universities in China. Participants were distributed equally across a non-gamified control condition and three gamified conditions (n = 31 per group). Engagement was assessed before and after a four-week instructional intervention. Significant improvements were observed within the engagement components across all three gamified conditions, with no statistically significant change observed within the control condition. Participant-level total scores for each dimension of engagement were then used to estimate baseline-adjusted regression models. The models accounted for 97.4% of the variance in post-intervention behavioural engagement, 96.6% in emotional engagement, and 98.8% in cognitive engagement. Relative to the control condition and after controlling for baseline engagement, animated badges, experience points, and level upgrades were associated with increases of 40.35, 46.90, and 49.36 points in behavioural engagement; 48.82, 51.76, and 52.48 points in emotional engagement; and 95.86, 105.46, and 107.36 points in cognitive engagement, respectively. The results suggest that gamification mechanisms vary in the strength and direction of their relationship with engagement, with the strongest adjusted relationships being found between progression-based gamification and the cognitive dimension of engagement. The study extends the analysis beyond significance testing by introducing a quantitative, baseline-adjusted model to estimate post-intervention engagement given gamification condition and baseline engagement and offers a more precise basis for the design of gamified VC interfaces.

Buffering stress in cognitive aging: the moderating role of positive emotions on trait-level stress reactivity and negative emotions in middle-aged and older adults

Rose Sin Yi Lin; Maria M Quiñones-Cordero; Kathi L. Heffner Frontiers in Psychiatry, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1916607 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyt.2026.1916607

چکیده

Introduction This study examined the moderating role of positive emotion in the relationship between trait-like stress reactivity and negative emotion, and whether this moderating effect varies by cognitive performance and cognitive decline across nine years. Methods Using data from 2,041 participants in the Midlife in the United States (MIDUS) study (mean age = 65.52 years), hierarchical regression models were conducted to predict negative emotion from trait-like stress reactivity, positive emotion, and their interaction, controlling for age, gender, years of education, depressed mood, and neuroticism. Simple slope analyses were conducted to test the direction of significant interactions. Analyses were repeated within subgroups of cognitive performance and cognitive decline across 9 years. Results The interaction between positive emotion and trait-like stress reactivity was significant, with higher positive emotion associated with a weaker relationship between stress reactivity and negative emotion. This moderating effect was observed across low, moderate, and high cognitive performance groups; a three-way interaction further indicated that the moderating effect becomes stronger as cognitive performance increases. For cognitive decline, the moderating effect was significant only among individuals with relatively greater cognitive decline, although the three-way interaction was not significant. Conclusion Positive emotion may buffer the relationship between trait-level stress reactivity and negative emotion across the cognitive performance range, although this moderating effect appears weaker at lower cognitive performance. Findings for cognitive decline were less conclusive, as a subgroup-specific association among participants with greater decline was not confirmed when cognitive decline was analyzed as a continuous moderator.

German Government’s WWII Memory Building on Commemorative Days, 1945–2025

Haoxiang Zhao; Lin Wang Journal of History Society and Culture, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pp. 34-46 https://doi.org/10.70267/jhsc.v1n1.3446

چکیده

Contemporary international relations are deeply influenced by historical reflection, and how a state deals with its legacy directly affects its international image and identity. Germany’s postwar reckoning with the Second World War serves as a paradigmatic case, where the construction of cultural memory reveals an evolution of historical consciousness shaped largely by official initiatives. Cultural memory, understood as the transmission of historical memory through cultural symbols, in the German context refers specifically to the ongoing critical engagement with Nazi crimes and the Holocaust. This memory is not static but has undergone a tortuous development from initial rejection and silence to active assumption of responsibility, eventually becoming a core component of German national identity. Memorial days, as state-sponsored vehicles, function both as pivot points for historical reflection and as witnesses to the transformation of cultural memory. Focusing on the commemorative date of 8 May (the end of the war in Europe), this paper analyzes the dynamic nature of German cultural memory. The findings show that in the early postwar period, German society resisted the notion of “collective guilt,” and under Adenauer the government maintained a conservative stance. Brandt’s “Warsaw Genuflection” marked a turn toward active remorse. Under Kohl, the concept of a “spiritual‑moral turnaround” was advanced, and the Nazi past gradually became “normalized” in public discourse. Since the beginning of the 21st century, Holocaust memory has been integrated more deeply into national identity, with an increasingly ritualized and educational focus on 8 May. Germany’s experience demonstrates that confronting historical truth is essential for building a peaceful identity. Its path toward reconciliation through cultural memory offers a reference for the international community, promoting a shared commitment to learning from history and cherishing peace.

Implementation and Operational Viability of the LGU Malay Mental Health Ordinance

Arbie T. Aspiras; Ma. Gemma P. Rasco International Journal of Research on Multidisciplinary Studies, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 9, pp. 725 https://doi.org/10.67903/ijroms0377

چکیده

This study evaluated the implementation and operational viability of the LGU Malay Mental Health Ordinance using the seven-component Project EMBRACE framework. The study addressed a local evidence gap by examining not only whether ordinance activities were implemented but also whether the workforce, referral, infrastructure, monitoring, and partnership conditions required for sustained delivery were present. A convergent parallel mixed-methods design was used. Quantitative data were obtained from 50 program implementers through a validated researcher-developed questionnaire (Cronbach's alpha = 0.962), while qualitative data were collected through Focus Group Discussions with 10 adult mental health service clients from Mainland Malay and Boracay Island. Means and standard deviations summarized five-point viability ratings, and qualitative transcripts were thematically analyzed; the two strands were integrated by comparing convergent, complementary, and divergent findings. The ordinance obtained an overall viable assessment, but component results were uneven. Wellness of Daily Living (M = 3.75), Mental Disorder (M = 3.65), Substance Abuse and Other Forms of Addiction (M = 3.72), and Provision of Services for Mental, Neurologic, and Substance Disorders (M = 3.45) were rated Viable. Extreme Life Experience (M = 3.11), Neurologic Disorders (M = 3.37), and Enhancement of Mental Health Facilities and Partnerships (M = 3.29) were Moderately Viable. Service-user accounts generally supported these patterns and highlighted limited specialist access, psychosocial workforce gaps, dependence on external referrals, and infrastructure constraints. The findings indicate that Malay has established a functional community mental health foundation, but long-term viability requires prioritized investment in crisis-response personnel, neurologic referral capacity, facilities, formal partnerships, continuity-of-care mechanisms, and integrated monitoring.

Prevalence of and factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders among orthopedic nurses: a cross-sectional study with exploratory interpretable machine-learning modeling

Yixiang Wang; 傅如輝; 任素婷; Chenyang Li; Yanlei Wang; Li Yang; … Frontiers in Public Health, 2026, Vol. 14, pp. 1922854 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpubh.2026.1922854

چکیده

Objective This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among orthopedic nurses, identify demographic, occupational, and lifestyle characteristics associated with WMSDs, and explore whether routinely collected characteristics could discriminate nurses with WMSDs from those without. Method A single-center cross-sectional study was conducted among nurses at a tertiary orthopedic specialty hospital in China between March and November 2023. Conventional analyses included multivariable logistic regression, modified Poisson regression with robust standard errors, and negative binomial regression. Logistic regression as a benchmark, elastic-net logistic regression, random forest, XGBoost, and support vector machine were compared using repeated 5-fold cross-validation with fold-specific preprocessing. Prediction performance was assessed using AUC with bootstrap 95% CIs, PR-AUC, Brier score, calibration intercept and slope, and descriptive threshold metrics; TreeSHAP was used for model interpretation. Result Among 948 nurses with valid questionnaires, 654 reported musculoskeletal symptoms in the previous 12 months, irrespective of work attribution (68.99%). After excluding 44 participants with uncertain work-related attribution, 604/904 participants were classified as having work-related WMSDs (66.81%). Each 1-point increase in the strict ergonomic risk score was associated with WMSDs in logistic regression (adjusted OR = 2.631, 95% CI 2.039–3.432; p < 0.001) and modified Poisson regression (adjusted PR = 1.283, 95% CI 1.203–1.369; p < 0.001). The highest observed AUC was 0.752 (95% CI 0.721–0.791) for the domain random forest model; the domain XGBoost model had the highest PR-AUC (0.841). Conclusion Musculoskeletal symptoms and WMSDs were common among orthopedic nurses in this single-center sample. Occupational exposure and postural load were associated with WMSDs. The exploratory prediction models showed limited-to-moderate discrimination and warrant prospective multicenter external validation before practical application.

Assessing growth mindset in undergraduate medical students: translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and evaluation of the Chinese version of the implicit theories of intelligence scale

谢颖; Wei Hong; Gang Chen; Chan Choong Foong Frontiers in Medicine, 2026, Vol. 13, pp. 1969574 https://doi.org/10.3389/fmed.2026.1969574

چکیده

Objectives Cross-cultural equivalence translations of the widely used Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale (ITIS) into Chinese are limited. Past research has focused on Western educational contexts, and Eastern cultural perspectives have been overlooked. This study aimed to translate and validate the Chinese version of the ITIS, and assess the growth mindset in undergraduate medical students. Methods This study was conducted among final-year undergraduate medical students in Fujian, China. Following forward and back-translation of the Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale (ITIS), cognitive interviews were conducted with students to assess the clarity and comprehensibility of the translated items, followed by an online survey distributed through medical schools. Construct validity, convergent validity, and discriminant validity were evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability (CR), while test–retest reliability was evaluated separately for the Fixed Mindset and Growth Mindset dimensions using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results A total of 444 responses were obtained. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a two-factor structure with satisfactory model fit ( χ 2 = 52.293, df = 17, CMIN/DF = 3.076, CFI = 0.984, NFI = 0.977, RFI = 0.962, IFI = 0.984, TLI = 0.974, RMSEA = 0.068, SRMR = 0.059). Standardized factor loadings were satisfactory, while CR values were 0.908 for Fixed Mindset and 0.910 for Growth Mindset, and AVE values were 0.713 and 0.717, respectively, supporting convergent validity. Discriminant validity was supported by the Fornell–Larcker criterion, AVE values exceeding the corresponding maximum shared variance values, and HTMT ratios below 0.90. Test–retest reliability differed between the two dimensions: the Fixed Mindset dimension demonstrated moderate temporal stability (ICC = 0.662, 95% CI: 0.443–0.806), whereas the Growth Mindset dimension showed limited temporal stability (ICC = 0.159, 95% CI: −0.158–0.446). The mean scores for Fixed Mindset items ranged from 2.64 (SD = 1.09) to 2.86 (SD = 1.56), whereas those for Growth Mindset items ranged from 3.81 (SD = 1.16) to 3.96 (SD = 1.21), indicating relatively stronger endorsement of fixed-mindset beliefs in this sample. Conclusions The Chinese version of the ITIS is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the intelligence mindset of medical students.

Family structure, family affluence and adolescents’ subjective well-being: the mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction

Т.О. Гордеева; Oleg Sychev; Olga Kazantseva; Elena V. Dvorskaya Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1958295 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1958295

چکیده

Introduction Adolescents’ subjective well-being has been widely studied across different family structures. However, little is known about the role of basic psychological needs in the subjective well-being of adolescents living in different family structures or in residential care. The present study addresses this gap. Methods The sample comprised 5,295 adolescents aged 10 -16 years ( M age =13.20, SD=1.50) living in intact families (65%), single-parent families (21%), stepparent families (12%), or residential care (2%). Participants completed self-report measures of basic psychological need satisfaction at home, subjective well-being (affective and cognitive components), and perceived family affluence. Results Structural equation modeling showed significant indirect associations between family structure and adolescents’ subjective well-being through basic psychological need satisfaction at home, including a sequential indirect association through perceived family affluence and basic psychological need satisfaction. Living in residential care was also indirectly associated with adolescents’ subjective well-being through basic psychological need satisfaction at home, whereas the direct association was not statistically significant. The results show that adolescents living in intact families reported the highest level of basic psychological need satisfaction at home, followed by those in single-parent and stepparent families, while adolescents in residential care reported the lowest level. Discussion The findings provide evidence that the association between family and care contexts and adolescents’ subjective well-being is statistically mediated by basic psychological need satisfaction at home. The results are discussed in light of the value of parental and caregiver support for adolescents’ basic psychological needs in different family types and care.

Independent predictors of non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents: a logistic regression model development study based on coping styles

Qiuyu Yuan; Chenlu Yao; Changping Zhai; Xiaoqin Zhou Frontiers in Psychology, 2026, Vol. 17, pp. 1930200 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1930200

چکیده

Objective Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is an urgent and substantial public health concern among adolescents. This study is aimed at identifying the independent psychological predictors of NSSI and developing and validating a logistic regression-based risk discrimination model focused on coping styles. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 206 adolescents (104 with NSSI and 102 healthy controls) was conducted. All the participants provided general demographic data, and completed the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory (ECR), the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form Version (CTQ-SF), and the Coping Styles Questionnaire (CSQ). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the independent predictors of NSSI. A nomogram was constructed in accordance with the final multivariate model. Model performance was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, the Hosmer-Lemeshow (HL) test, and a decision curve analysis (DCA). Results Multivariate logistic regression revealed that a higher level of self-blame (OR = 1.062; 95% CI: 1.023–1.102; P = 0.002) was an independent risk factor, whereas a better problem-solving capacity (OR = 0.911; 95% CI: 0.867–0.957; P < 0.001) was an independent protective factor for adolescents with NSSI. Attachment dimensions and childhood trauma did not retain independent significance after adjustment. The nomogram showed excellent discrimination (AUC = 0.951, 95% CI: 0.922–0.980), good calibration (HL test P > 0.05), and superior clinical net benefit across a wide threshold (0.01–0.99). Conclusion Targeting self-blame and enhancing problem-solving skills may be effective styles for the prevention of adolescent NSSI. As a preliminary finding, the nomogram developed in our study is a useful tool for exploratory differentiation.

Continuous cursor tracking as a process-oriented measure of anticipation in soccer: expertise differences in spatial and temporal preparation

Osamu Nakamura; Ryoji Onagawa; Kazutoshi Kudo; Norikazu Hirose Frontiers in Sports and Active Living, 2026, Vol. 8, pp. 1991767 https://doi.org/10.3389/fspor.2026.1991767

چکیده

Introduction Anticipating an opponent's actions is central to performance in team sports such as soccer, where a player must select the correct response within a fraction of a second. Perceptual-cognitive expertise in anticipation is well documented, but standard measures (response time, accuracy, or option choice) capture only the discrete response produced at a single moment and leave the preparatory processing that precedes it unobserved. Building on evidence that hand and cursor movements reveal cognition as it unfolds, the present study examined, as a proof of concept, whether continuous cursor tracking can read out the pre-response preparatory state in a sports anticipation task. Methods Twelve skilled soccer players and twelve novices watched soccer pass-course clips and anticipated which teammate would receive the ball by moving a cursor; the video was stopped at the final frame (the moment a response was required), and the same clips were repeated across three blocks. Two continuous measures were defined: the cursor's Euclidean distance to the correct receiver at response onset (a spatial index of where the participant was poised) and the increase in cursor velocity in the window immediately before response onset (a temporal index of the movement toward the response). Results Compared with novices, skilled players anticipated more accurately, were poised closer to the correct receiver, and showed a larger velocity increase; control analyses argued against the velocity difference being a by-product of the total amount of movement. In an exploratory analysis, the positional difference emerged across repeated presentations of the same clips and was largest in the final block. In addition, the velocity difference was already present in the first presentation, and no significant change across repeated presentations was detected. Discussion The pre-response preparatory state is observed in both a spatial aspect (where one is poised) and a temporal aspect (how one moves toward the response). Because in basic reaching research the position and the velocity of movement index different aspects of decision-making, capturing both under a single continuous measure (which discrete responses cannot) provides a basis for measuring the decision-making processes that underlie anticipation in sport.

Nature-Based Extreme Sport Participation and Eco-Sensitivity: An Interpretative Phenomenological Study in South Africa

Nicolette Human Journal of Interdisciplinary Sport Science Research, 2026, Vol. 1, Issue 2, pp. 91-105 https://doi.org/10.68191/spora.v1i2.52

چکیده

Nature-based extreme sports are often framed through sensation seeking, thrill, and voluntary exposure to risk, yet this framing can obscure the meanings participants attach to prolonged engagement with demanding natural environments. This study explored how experienced South African participants interpreted the relationship between nature-based extreme sport participation and eco-sensitivity. In this article, eco-sensitivity refers to participants' reported environmental attention, affective connection with nature, recognition of ecological dependence, concern about degradation, and efforts to reduce personal impact. A qualitative design using interpretative phenomenological analysis was applied to semi-structured interviews conducted between 29 April and 4 July 2019 with 10 experienced participants, five men and five women, who represented 11 nature-based extreme sport activities and reported two to 22 years of experience. Four interconnected themes were identified: risk as a managed component of participation; connection rather than conquest; sensory sensitivity and experiences consistent with mindfulness and flow; and eco-sensitivity and self-reported pro-environmental orientation. Participants described risk as something to calculate and manage through competence, preparation, and situational judgement. They also described respect for natural forces, heightened bodily and environmental attention, and a stronger sense of ecological dependence. Reported pro-environmental practices were self-reported and were not independently observed. The findings provide an interpretive account of how participants made sense of environmental meanings within prolonged outdoor sport involvement. They do not establish a causal developmental mechanism. The results suggest propositions for athlete education, outdoor recreation management, environmental learning, and future longitudinal research. Keywords: eco-sensitivity; extreme sport; interpretative phenomenological analysis; nature connectedness; pro-environmental behaviour; risk management.

Conceptualizations and measurements of family flourishing and wellbeing: a scoping review

Deborah J. Moon; Ruijie Ma; Hyunjin Lee; Amanda Cruce; Youme Kim; Sophia Luckenbaugh; … Frontiers in Social Psychology, 2026, Vol. 4, pp. 1968540 https://doi.org/10.3389/frsps.2026.1968540

چکیده

Background Rooted in positive psychology, human flourishing scholarship focuses on the presence of health and wellbeing beyond the absence of illness. Contemporary flourishing research has increasingly expanded its focus beyond individuals to larger systems, including families. Family flourishing is an emerging concept with limited clarity in its conceptualizations and measurements. This scoping review synthesized existing literature on the unit-level conceptualizations and operationalizations of family flourishing and wellbeing and examined the extent to which existing measures align with contemporary understandings of human flourishing. Methods Arksey and O'Malley's methodology and the PRISMA-ScR reporting guidelines were followed. Searches were conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, ERIC, PsycINFO, Social Work Abstracts, Academic Search Premier, and Web of Science. Eligible studies presented explicit unit-level conceptualizations or quantitative measures of family flourishing or wellbeing as a multidimensional construct. Only studies written in English and published since 2000 were included. Title and abstract screening, full-text screening, and data extraction were conducted by two independent researchers, while monitoring inter-coder reliability. Discrepancies were resolved through consensus in consultation with the PI. Data extraction utilized a standardized form for consistency, which was iteratively revised through discussion. Results The final sample included 13 studies, which represented diverse regions, including China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the United States. Studies were published between 2005 and 2025, with most studies published since 2020. Seven quantitative measures of family wellbeing were identified while no family flourishing measures were found. Conceptualizations represented diverse roots including Aristotelian eudaimonia, Indigenous cultural beliefs, and local spiritual teachings. While boundaries were often unclear, six broad categories of conceptualizations were identified, including relational/functional. eudaimonic/existential, hedonic/emotional, social/community, socioeconomic/environmental, and spiritual/religious domains. Relational/functional domains were most frequently covered while spiritual/religious domains were least frequently covered by existing measures. Most measures were developed more than a decade ago, and psychometric evidence beyond internal consistency was limited. Conclusion Family flourishing is an underdeveloped but promising area of scholarship. Further studies are needed to achieve greater conceptual clarity and to develop culturally responsive and psychometrically robust measures. The Relationship Between Psychological Pain and Suicidal Ideation in Emerging Adulthood: What Role Do Entrapment and Meaning in Life Play?

Irina Navarro-Montoya; Usue de la Barrera; Estefanía Mónaco Actas Españolas de Psiquiatría, 2026 https://doi.org/10.62641/aep.2414

چکیده

Background: Emerging adulthood is a vulnerable developmental period for suicidal ideation. Psychological pain is often associated to its occurrence, however, the factors related to the transition from psychological pain to suicidal ideation remain unclear. This study aimed to analyze the mediating capacity of entrapment and the moderating capacity of meaning in life in the relationship between psychological pain and suicidal ideation during emerging adulthood. Methods: Participants were Spanish emerging adults who completed a battery of questionnaires through LimeSurvey platform. A moderated mediation was conducted. Results: The model explained 63.8% of the variance in suicidal ideation. Entrapment mediated the relationship between psychological pain and suicidal ideation. Furthermore, at low levels of meaning in life, psychological pain was positively associated with suicidal ideation, while at high levels, the association was no longer significant. Conclusions: These findings highlight the importance of assessing psychological pain and entrapment as potential risk factors of suicidal ideation during emerging adulthood, and support the development of interventions aimed at fostering their meaning in life.

Unlocking Literacy: The Role of Reading and Writing Skills in Shaping Elementary Learners’ Development

Asia Tabudlong; Jonathan Roque International Journal of Transformative Multidisciplinary Studies, 2026, Vol. 2, Issue 4, pp. 346-357 https://doi.org/10.66074/l3r6p2j9w

چکیده

This study examined the reported levels of reading skills, writing skills, academic success, and challenges in literacy development among Grade 5 and Grade 6 learners. The study was conducted in selected public elementary schools in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat during the School Year 2025–2026. A quantitative descriptive-correlational research design was employed. The respondents were 56 learners selected through proportionate sampling. Data were collected using a researcher-developed 40-item questionnaire covering reading skills (comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency); writing skills (syntax, grammar, and morphology); academic success; and challenges in reading and writing. The instrument obtained a mean validity score of 4.36 and a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.762, indicating acceptable internal consistency. Mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient were used to analyze the data. The findings showed that learners reported a very high level of reading skills (M = 4.40) and writing skills (M = 4.51). Academic success was reported as Very Satisfactory (M = 4.50), while challenges in developing literacy skills were reported as Challenged (M = 3.71). The correlation analysis showed a negligible positive relationship between reading skills and academic success (r = 0.119) and a negligible negative relationship between writing skills and academic success (r = -0.097). Neither relationship was statistically significant at the 0.05 level. The findings suggest that although learners reported high levels of reading and writing skills, these skills alone were not significantly related to their reported academic success. Other factors may also contribute to learners’ academic development.

A Hybrid Intelligent Framework for Stress Management: Integrating Machine Learning and Analytical Network Process for Engineering Education Systems

Prameswari Rizcha Julianda Journal of Applied Data Sciences, 2026, Vol. 7, Issue 4, pp. 2708-2719 https://doi.org/10.47738/jads.v7i4.1509

چکیده

Final-year engineering students frequently face severe psychological stress driven by demanding capstone projects and rigorous accreditation standards. This research proposes a novel decision-support framework to objectively evaluate, categorize, and systematically manage academic stress among engineering undergraduates. By integrating automated non-parametric machine learning with a multi-criteria network decision model, the research bridges diagnostic psychological profiling and strategic institutional intervention. Data were gathered from six hundred eleven final-year students across four engineering departments using a validated psychometric questionnaire. The automated classification engine utilizes a nearest-neighbor algorithm based on spatial Euclidean proximity to categorize individual distress severity into depression, anxiety, and stress levels without relying on rigid parametric assumptions. Subsequently, a strategic situational assessment and a multi-perspective personal performance framework were established to translate abstract psychological findings into measurable indicators. Clinical experts and academic domain specialists evaluated these indicators using an analytical network process, incorporating complex interdependencies and feedback loops to compute steady-state priority weights. Empirical results revealed that over ninety percent of respondents experienced at least moderate psychological distress. Crucially, the mathematical prioritization demonstrated that the financial perspective holds the paramount priority weight, followed by internal cognitive resilience, continuous knowledge acquisition, and external social relationships. This proves that financial stability serves as a foundational prerequisite for academic recovery and intellectual execution. The primary contribution of this research lies in converting static psychometric evaluations into a dynamic, clinically validated decision-support tool. Higher education institutions and academic counselors can implement this prioritized framework to allocate institutional resources effectively, design targeted financial relief initiatives, and optimize student well-being alongside academic excellence.

Using Video Games to Teach Kepler’s Laws and Orbital Dynamics

Brian DiGiorgio Zanger The Physics Teacher, 2026, Vol. 64, Issue 8, pp. 700-702 https://doi.org/10.1119/5.0276776

چکیده

Physics instructors often rely on demonstrations when teaching, using real-time examples to appeal to student intuition or tinkering with a physical system to develop a deeper and more natural understanding of a topic. However, some subjects, like Kepler's laws of planetary motion, are impractical to demonstrate at a human scale, and when reality proves difficult, it is often easier to move to simulations and video games. In particular, using video games in the classroom benefits student learning and allows students to learn practical information that they can transfer to the real world. The video game Kerbal Space Program (KSP) is notable for its commitment to accurate simulation of rockets and orbits, allowing players to explore the in-game solar system with their Kerbal astronauts only if they have mastered the laws of orbital dynamics. In my personal experience, I gained a better intuition about orbits during my years playing KSP than I did in graduate school, a common sentiment within the KSP community. I use KSP in my college introductory astronomy courses to make Kepler's laws more tactile with demonstrations and projects, developing intuition on advanced aspects of rocket science through experiments that are otherwise impractical at interplanetary scales.

PERBANDINGAN CAPAIAN AKADEMIK, PEMAHAMAN KEAGAMAAN, DAN KESEJAHTERAAN SISWA PADA PEMBELAJARAN TERPISAH DAN TERINTEGRASI MADRASAH PESANTREN

Umi Anis Syarotun; Ahmad Saiful Rizal EDUCATOR Jurnal Inovasi Tenaga Pendidik dan Kependidikan, 2026, Vol. 6, Issue 4 https://doi.org/10.51878/educator.v6i4.16048

چکیده

Pesantren-based madrasahs may organize religious and general learning through two configurations, separated and integrated, yet students' experiences under the two configurations are rarely compared sequentially within one institution. Prior studies mostly address the epistemological and curricular dimensions of knowledge integration, while students' experiences under both configurations have not been compared directly. This study compares academic achievement, religious understanding, and student well-being between the cohort of students who studied under the separated system and the cohort who later studied under the integrated system at MA Khozinatul Ulum Blora, as reported by teachers and students. It uses an embedded case study with two units of analysis. Thirteen informants took part: five students from each cohort, one madrasah diniyah teacher, one general subject teacher, and one deputy head for curriculum. Data came from semi-structured interviews for both cohorts, along with observation and document analysis for the currently running integrated system, analyzed thematically with triangulation. Three differences emerged. Separated-system students described more structured learning, whereas integrated-system students described difficulty keeping focus as the scope of material widened. Broader religious understanding across subjects was described by integrated-system students, while separated-system students tied it to religion class hours. Fatigue was reported more often in the integrated group. The study contributes a comparison of two periods of learning systems within one institution.
