Universities preparing graduates for technology-enabled financial services need to understand how digital learning conditions relate to students’ career readiness. This study examines the associations of university-based Digital Financial Learning Ecosystem Quality with perceived FinTech Career Readiness among Vietnamese business students. Drawing on Social Cognitive Theory and Social Cognitive Career Theory, ecosystem quality is modelled as a reflective–formative higher-order construct comprising Digital Academic Support, the Digital Learning Environment, and Digital Teaching Innovation. Cross-sectional survey data from 341 students recruited through nonprobability convenience sampling via networks centred on northern Vietnam were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling and a disjoint two-stage procedure. All three ecosystem dimensions made significant formative contributions, with the digital learning environment showing the largest estimated weight. Higher ecosystem quality was positively associated with self-efficacy and learning motivation, and self-efficacy was positively associated with motivation. Motivation and career orientation were positively associated with perceived readiness, with motivation having the larger estimated direct coefficient. Career orientation showed no significant additional association with motivation after accounting for ecosystem quality and self-efficacy. Ecosystem quality was indirectly associated with readiness through motivation and through the sequential pathway involving self-efficacy and motivation. The model explained 41.5% of the variance in perceived readiness. The study contributes an integrated operationalisation of university-based digital financial learning quality and distinguishes learning-related associations from those of career orientation. The findings inform potential priorities for coordinating digital platforms, relevant financial content, academic support, practical learning, and competency-based career guidance. For universities and financial institutions, the study offers evidence to guide collaboration on graduate preparation and a foundation for evaluating how perceived readiness relates to demonstrated workplace competence.
Background: Fresh graduates face an increasingly difficult school-to-work transition, while artificial intelligence (AI) has become a routine study and job-search companion; yet how the intention to use AI translates into employability, and through which mechanisms, remains unclear. Objective: Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, this study tests whether behavioral intention to use AI is associated with self-perceived graduate employability directly and indirectly through career adaptability and job search self-efficacy, and whether AI self-efficacy and AI trust moderate these paths. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey of 612 Indonesian fresh graduates who use AI for career preparation was analyzed with partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: AI use intention positively predicted career adaptability (β = 0.305) and job search self-efficacy (β = 0.249), and both resources predicted self-perceived employability. The indirect paths through both resources were significant, and a direct effect of AI use intention on employability remained, indicating partial mediation. AI self-efficacy and AI trust showed significant main effects on their resources, while the interaction-related indirect effects were not significant. Conclusion: AI use intention is associated with self-perceived employability through career adaptability and job search self-efficacy. The cross-sectional findings do not establish causality. Educational institutions and career-service units may use these findings to inform structured AI-supported occupational exploration, skills-gap analysis, résumé refinement, and interview rehearsal, while encouraging critical verification of AI outputs.
This study examined the lived experiences of teachers handling students with special needs in mainstream classrooms at Holy Cross Colleges, Inc. Pampanga during the 2026–2027 school year. Anchored in Husserlian descriptive phenomenology and informed by Social Cognitive Theory and Social Constructivist Theory, the study described how nine purposively selected teachers experienced, responded to, and made meaning of teaching learners with special needs without specialized preparation. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and field notes and analyzed using Colaizzi's method, involving the extraction of significant statements, formulation of meanings, and clustering of themes into a synthesized essential structure. Four themes emerged: Thrown Into Inclusion: Teaching Without a Map, describing participants' unplanned, unsupported entry into inclusive teaching; Reading the Signs: Identifying and Managing Crisis in the Classroom, capturing their reliance on sustained observation and the hidden emotional labor of crisis response; Crafting a Classroom That Fits: Individualized and Relational Pedagogy, describing instructional strategies built through trial and adjustment; and It Takes a School: Collaboration, Gaps, and Shared Responsibility, documenting the collaborative networks and institutional gaps participants navigated. Together, these themes revealed that teaching a student with special needs in a mainstream classroom was experienced as a largely unassisted process of improvisation, sustainable only when a supportive relational and institutional network was present or actively built by the teacher. These findings informed the Teacher Inclusive Practice and Support Framework, proposed as the study's practical output, with implications for classroom practice, institutional policy, and future research on inclusive education.
Abstract Importance Bullying is increasingly understood as a social process in which peers influence whether it persists. Anti-bullying policies and programs often encourage bystanders to intervene directly, yet direct defending can carry social costs for defenders, and evidence that it reduces later victimization is mixed. Some interventions already target the peer rewards that sustain bullying, but participant-role classifications tend to absorb deliberate non-reinforcement into outsider behavior or passive bystanding. Objective This paper argues that withdrawing social reinforcement, the deliberate withholding of social rewards that peers confer on bullying, such as attention, approval, amplification, or audience participation, should be conceptualized as a distinct bystander response. Methods This conceptual analysis draws on the social-ecological framework, participant role theory, social cognitive theory, and evidence that the outsider category is internally heterogeneous. Results Withdrawing social reinforcement is functionally positive when it reflects a refusal to endorse bullying and reduces the social rewards available to the student who bullies. It differs from uninvolved passivity in intent and social function, and from indirect defending in primary target, because these responses act on different points in the social process of bullying. When enacted collectively, it may also signal reduced peer endorsement of bullying and shift perceived peer norms. Conclusions Helpful bystander responding should not be defined only by direct intervention. Bystanders can also target the social rewards that sustain bullying, and responses grouped as passive bystanding differ in whether they sustain or withhold those rewards. Future research should test whether withdrawing social reinforcement can be reliably distinguished from uninvolved passivity and indirect defending, and whether it reduces reinforcement for students who bully. Implications for Practice Withdrawing social reinforcement requires less public confrontation than direct defending, offering students who cannot or will not confront the student who bullies another way to respond. Schools can teach this method as an explicit option alongside upstanding.
This study examined teacher self-efficacy, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) integration, and their predictive relationships with teacher effectiveness in the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in the Tagbilaran City Division, Bohol, Philippines. Anchored in Social Cognitive Theory, the Prosocial Classroom Model, the CASEL SEL Framework, Self-Determination Theory, and Emotional Intelligence Theory, the study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. Quantitative respondents comprised 202 ARAL teachers and 23 school heads or designated supervisors from eight public junior high schools. The qualitative phase involved 15 teachers and five supervisory participants. Data were collected using a validated, researcher-developed questionnaire, open-ended questions, and interviews, and analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple regression, Welch’s t-test, and thematic analysis. Findings revealed high teacher self-efficacy (M = 3.99), SEL integration, and teacher effectiveness. SEL integration significantly and positively predicted content knowledge and pedagogy (R² = .154), assessment and reporting (R² = .520), and learning environment (R² = .537), whereas teacher self-efficacy showed no statistically significant unique contribution after accounting for SEL integration. Teachers’ and supervisors’ assessments showed no significant differences. Challenges included learner disengagement, language barriers, diverse learning needs, inadequate instructional resources, insufficient training, and monitoring difficulties. Professional commitment, instructional adaptability, supportive relationships, and administrative assistance facilitated implementation. The study recommends sustained SEL-focused professional development, differentiated instruction, strengthened supervision, and systematic learner monitoring. It supports Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through inclusive learning recovery, socio-emotional support, and teacher welfare. Its sustainability contribution lies in informing institutional capacity-building, equitable educational opportunities, and continuing professional support for effective ARAL implementation.
Self-leadership and self-efficacy are theoretically and empirically linked, yet limited research explains how individuals interpret self-leadership experiences as evidence of personal capability. Although self-leadership practices and mastery experiences contribute to self-efficacy, the cognitive process through which performance experiences become evidence of competence remains insufficiently understood. Attribution theory explains how individuals infer the causes of performance outcomes but offers limited insight into how these interpretations inform subsequent judgements of personal capability. This paper proposes responsibility attribution as a cognitive mechanism that may explain how performance experiences are incorporated into self-efficacy beliefs. Responsibility attribution is conceptualised as an evaluative appraisal through which individuals determine whether a performance outcome should be interpreted as evidence of their own capability. Outcomes perceived as personally attributable may therefore acquire psychological significance for subsequent self-efficacy judgements. Integrating self-leadership theory, social cognitive theory, and attribution theory, the proposed framework explains how individuals may transform performance experiences into capability judgements that support self-directed behaviour. The paper contributes to attribution theory by specifying a potentially under-theorised function of attributional processing: evaluating whether interpreted outcomes constitute evidence of personal capability. The framework also offers a theoretical basis for future research into self-leadership development and interventions that strengthen learning from experience.
Introduction This study treats adolescent athletes' self-efficacy as a dynamic process rather than a fixed quantity, asking how its fluctuations arise in online social settings and how that volatility shapes training engagement. Methods We recruited a stratified sample of 320 youth athletes across sport discipline, competitive tier, and sex, and combined ecological momentary assessment with weekly follow-up over 8 consecutive weeks, using instruments released under open licenses and open-source software throughout. Two dispersion indices, the intraindividual standard deviation and the root mean square of successive differences, summarized fluctuation at the person level, while absolute occasion-to-occasion change indexed momentary instability at the event level. We fitted multilevel linear models, a two-level dynamic structural equation model, latent growth curve models, and multilevel structural equation models, with each path labeled by its level of analysis. Results Momentary self-efficacy showed genuine within-person temporal dependence rather than independent scatter, and its trajectory was phase-linked to the competitive calendar and unevenly distributed across individuals. Between persons, fluctuation amplitude tracked the intensity of negatively valenced comparison rather than the sheer volume of feedback, and comparison orientation amplified that association on the negative arm alone. Within persons, negative comparison enlarged momentary instability both immediately and at a one-occasion lag, whereas positive signals steadied confidence only briefly. Amplitude was negatively associated with all three engagement facets beyond mean efficacy, most strongly for absorption, although a formal equality test separated absorption from dedication but not vigor. The direct reach of negative comparison into engagement proved facet-specific: vigor and absorption were affected, dedication was not, so the facet-by-facet hypothesis holds only in part. Sensitivity analyses adding competitive-calendar phase, splitting the series by season phase, partialling the person mean and the person-specific autoregression out of the amplitude index, entering competitive tier as a covariate, and checking participant-coded valence against automated sentiment scoring left the pattern intact. Discussion The findings extend social cognitive theory's vicarious and persuasive sources into a temporally dense digital regime and point toward protective coaching and self-regulation strategies.
This study examined how scientific and technological literacy relate to self-reported pro-environmental behavior through the mediating role of 21st-century skills among 578 undergraduate Biology Education students from 16 universities in Eastern Indonesia. Drawing on Social Cognitive Theory and the Action Competence Framework, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication were conceptualized as an integrated competence-enactment mechanism linking literacy to behavioral tendencies. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS 4. The 21st-century skills construct was modeled as a second-order mediating variable using the disjoint two-stage approach. The measurement model confirmed satisfactory reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The structural model showed that scientific literacy and technological literacy significantly predicted 21st-century skills, which emerged as the strongest predictor of self-reported pro-environmental behavior. Scientific literacy retained a small but significant direct effect, indicating complementary partial mediation, whereas technological literacy showed no significant direct effect, indicating indirect-only mediation. The mediated model explained 65.1% of the variance in pro-environmental behavior, compared with 50.6% in the direct-effect model. These findings demonstrate that 21st-century skills function as the key mediating mechanism through which literacy competencies are transformed into environmental behavioral tendencies and support the integration of scientific understanding, purposeful technology use, and action-oriented 4C learning in Biology Education curricula.

Introduction This explanatory sequential mixed-methods study examined associations of self-regulated learning (SRL) and online learning self-efficacy with perceived academic and cognitive performance among undergraduates recruited from five Vietnamese universities. Methods The quantitative phase analyzed 685 complete survey responses obtained through quota-guided convenience sampling and tested a four-construct covariance-based structural equation model. The qualitative phase involved 24 interview participants purposively selected from the survey pool to contextualize the observed structural associations. Results The measurement model showed good fit on the retained indices (χ²/df = 2.15, CFI = .962, TLI = .958, RMSEA = .041, SRMR = .038). SRL was positively associated with perceived academic performance ( β = .51) and perceived cognitive performance (β = .44), while online learning self-efficacy was associated with perceived academic performance ( β = .24) and perceived cognitive performance ( β = .36), all p < .001. The model accounted for 49.5% and 52.1% of the variance in the two outcomes, respectively. Interview accounts described SRL through scheduling, micro-deadlines, monitoring, distraction control, and strategy revision, whereas online learning self-efficacy was reflected in willingness to initiate tasks, explore unfamiliar tools, seek help, and persist through technological difficulty. Discussion The study contributes a theoretically integrated account of learner agency grounded in SRL theory, Social Cognitive Theory, and Self-Determination Theory. Because the design was cross-sectional and the sample was nonprobability-based, the findings are interpreted as sample-specific associations rather than causal or nationally representative effects.

Introduction This study examined the indirect association between psychological well-being and professional commitment through teacher self-efficacy within the framework of Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory. Methods A correlational research design was employed with a sample of 330 Turkish language teachers working in public schools in Türkiye. Data were collected using the Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale, the Psychological Well-Being Scale, and the Teachers’ Professional Commitment Scale. Pearson correlation and regression-based indirect-effect analyses were conducted using PROCESS macro Model 4 developed by Andrew F. Hayes. Results Psychological well-being was positively and significantly associated with both teacher self-efficacy and professional commitment. Teacher self-efficacy was also positively and significantly associated with professional commitment. Furthermore, the indirect-effect analysis indicated a statistically significant indirect association between psychological well-being and professional commitment through teacher self-efficacy. The proposed model explained approximately 30% of the variance in professional commitment. Discussion The findings highlight the relevance of teachers’ psychological well-being and self-efficacy to professional commitment and provide context-specific evidence from Turkish language teachers working in the Turkish educational context.

This study develops and evaluates a digital self-assessment tool to measure students' affective domain in Civics Education at the senior high school level. The research addresses the lack of measurement of affective outcomes in civic and character education. Although the affective dimension is an important part of the curriculum, most teachers lack reliable tools to document students' value internalisation. Using a Research and Development design with the ADDIE framework, the tool was built on Krathwohl's taxonomy of the affective domain and supported by attitude theory, social cognitive theory, and the concepts of global citizenship and character education. Content validity was assessed using Aiken's V with five experts, followed by empirical testing with 182 participants in the pilot test and 498 participants in the field test. Item-total correlation and Cronbach's alpha were used to assess item performance and internal consistency, with reliability coefficients between 0.706 and 0.804. EFA revealed a general affective factor while retaining five theoretically relevant factors: receiving, responding, valuing, organisation, and characterisation. CFA proved that the measurement model is acceptable (CMIN/df = 2.545; CFI = 0.927; TLI = 0.916; RMSEA = 0.056); however, AGFI slightly failed the strict 0.90 criterion. This research contributes both a context-relevant yet globally applicable civic affective scale and an illustration of digital self-assessment for evidence-based affective assessment, while addressing issues such as social desirability and cross-cultural validity.
Background Reading literacy is a fundamental determinant of academic achievement. However, the complex psychological mechanisms linking teacher support to reading literacy during the critical developmental transition of middle childhood remain insufficiently understood. This gap is particularly evident within the Confucian Heritage Culture (CHC) context, where teacher authority and social validation are highly prominent. Grounded in an integration of control-value theory and social cognitive theory, this study aims to investigate the parallel mediating roles of achievement emotions (an affective pathway) and reading self-efficacy (a cognitive-motivational pathway) in the relationship between perceived teacher support and reading literacy. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 460 Grade 4 pupils (aged 9–10 years) from two public schools in Beijing, China. Data were collected using validated self-report questionnaires for psychological constructs and a Chinese adaptation of the PIRLS assessment for reading literacy, followed by analysis using covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM). Results The structural model revealed that perceived teacher support significantly and positively predicted reading literacy ( β = 0.446, p <0.001). Mediation analyses using bias-corrected bootstrapping demonstrated that achievement emotions significantly mediated the relationship between teacher support and reading literacy ( β = 0.063, 95% CI [0.015, 0.115]). Conversely, reading self-efficacy did not exhibit a significant independent mediation effect when accounting for emotional factors. The total model explained 31.3% of the variance in reading literacy. Discussion These findings highlight that teacher support enhances primary school pupils’ reading literacy primarily through emotional rather than cognitive-motivational pathways. The study extends existing literature by demonstrating that fostering emotionally supportive classroom environments and positive achievement emotions is a vital, yet often overlooked, pedagogical strategy for sustainable literacy development.
Digital transformation has reshaped technical and vocational education and training (TVET), accelerating the adoption of learning management systems, mobile learning, immersive technologies, and AI-enabled instructional tools. Although technology acceptance has been widely studied, existing research remains theoretically fragmented and insufficiently synthesised within vocational contexts characterised by practice-oriented, skill-based, and industry-aligned learning. This study presents a systematic review of approximately 100 empirical and review studies published between 1989 and 2025, guided by PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Integrating perspectives from the Technology Acceptance Model, UTAUT/UTAUT2, Social Cognitive Theory, the Stimulus–Organism–Response framework, and learning sciences, the review identifies four overarching categories of factors influencing technology acceptance in TVET: technical, psychological, environmental and institutional, and cognitive–affective mechanisms. The findings demonstrate that technology acceptance in vocational education is a multi-level, learning-centred process shaped by learners’ cognitive processing, emotional experience, motivation, and engagement. Building on this synthesis, the study proposes an integrated conceptual framework that embeds technology acceptance within the pedagogical and institutional context of TVET, highlighting procedural learning, authenticity, industry alignment, and cultural context.
Formative feedback is central to assessment for learning because it can help learners understand expectations, identify gaps in understanding, and improve subsequent learning. However, less is known about how formative feedback is understood and enacted in resource-constrained primary-school contexts. This study explored how Ethiopian primary-school teachers understand and enact formative feedback and how teacher, student, and contextual conditions shape feedback practices. Guided by Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), the study employed a qualitative instrumental case-study design at a government primary school in Asella, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five teachers and the school principal, classroom observations, and a focus group discussion involving five students and three Parent–Teacher Association representatives. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, with SCT applied as an interpretive lens. Four themes emerged: teachers’ understanding and enactment of feedback; feedback, student engagement, and learning experiences; contextual conditions supporting feedback; and challenges and tensions affecting implementation. Teachers generally understood feedback as supporting learning, motivation, confidence, and participation. However, observations revealed a gap between formative intentions and enacted practices, with whole-class oral correction more common than sustained dialogue, individualized feedback, and opportunities for revision. Large classes, limited instructional time, assessment pressures, resource constraints, and differences in student engagement shaped implementation. The findings indicate that strengthening formative feedback requires teacher and student feedback literacy, relevant professional learning, and school conditions that enable dialogue, reflection, and revision.
Introduction This study examined the association between distributed leadership and teachers’ work engagement, with teacher subjective well-being specified as a mediator and perceived collective teacher efficacy as a moderator. Methods Drawing on the Job Demands–Resources model and social cognitive theory, a moderated mediation model was tested using Bayesian structural equation modeling. Data were collected from 598 teachers working in 60 public schools in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Results Distributed leadership was positively associated with teacher subjective well-being [ β = 0.233, 95% BCI (0.077, 0.381)] and work engagement [ β = 0.234, 95% BCI (0.135, 0.333)], while subjective well-being was positively associated with work engagement [ β = 0.172, 95% BCI (0.112, 0.232)]. The indirect association through subjective well-being was supported [ B = 0.039, 95% BCI (0.012, 0.074)]. Perceived collective teacher efficacy moderated the association between distributed leadership and subjective well-being [ β = 0.099, 95% BCI (0.003, 0.192)]. The conditional indirect association was supported at the mean and higher levels of perceived collective teacher efficacy but not at lower levels, and the index of moderated mediation excluded zero [ B = 0.019, 95% BCI (0.001, 0.043)]. These conclusions remained stable under alternative prior specifications. Discussion The findings indicate an indirect statistical association between distributed leadership and work engagement through teacher subjective well-being, which varied according to perceived collective teacher efficacy. Given the cross-sectional, self-report design, this mediation represents a statistical decomposition of covariance rather than evidence of a causal mechanism or temporal sequence.
