The aim of this study was to identify the latent profiles of young adults based on their levels of cyber victimization, perceived social support, self-compassion, and difficulties in emotion regulation (DER), and to examine whether these profiles differed according to gender and academic year. The study included 425 young adults enrolled at a public university in Türkiye. Data were collected using the Cyber Victimization Scale, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, the Self-Compassion Scale–Short Form, and the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale. Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) and the R3STEP procedure were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed four distinct latent profiles: The Protective Resources Profile, Low Self-Compassion / High DER Profile, Moderate Psychosocial Adjustment Profile, and High Self-Compassion / Average DER Profile. The R3STEP analysis indicated that gender was significantly associated with latent profile membership, whereas academic year showed limited associations. Specifically, compared with male students, female students were less likely to belong to the Low Self-Compassion / High DER Profile and the High Self-Compassion / Average DER Profile rather than the Protective Resources Profile, but were more likely to belong to the Moderate Psychosocial Adjustment Profile rather than the Low Self-Compassion / High DER Profile. Additionally, fourth-year students were more likely than first-year students to belong to the Low Self-Compassion / High DER Profile rather than the Protective Resources Profile.
Objective This study identified latent profiles of sport participation motivation among higher vocational college students and examined their associations with campus sports culture. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in 2026 among students from three higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces using convenience sampling. Campus sports culture and sport participation motivation were assessed using the Campus Sports Culture Scale and the Chinese version of the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire-3. Latent profile analysis was performed in Mplus 8.3, followed by chi-square tests and the R3STEP three-step procedure to examine demographic differences and associations between campus sports culture and profile membership while accounting for classification uncertainty. Results Four motivational profiles were identified: the Low-to-Moderate Flat Profile (5.8%), Autonomous Orientation Profile (33.1%), High Controlled–Amotivation Profile (8.4%), and Moderate Mixed-Motivation Profile (52.6%). The Moderate Mixed-Motivation Profile was the largest subgroup. With the Low-to-Moderate Flat Profile as the reference category, higher overall campus sports culture scores were associated with greater odds of membership in the Autonomous Orientation, High Controlled–Amotivation, and Moderate Mixed-Motivation Profiles, with the strongest association observed for the Autonomous Orientation Profile. At the dimensional level, material culture was associated with all three profiles, whereas spiritual and behavioral culture were associated with the Autonomous Orientation and Moderate Mixed-Motivation Profiles. Institutional culture was not significantly associated with profile membership. Conclusion Sport participation motivation among higher vocational college students showed substantial heterogeneity, with mixed motivational regulation being the most common pattern. Campus sports culture was differentially associated with motivational profile membership, particularly with profiles containing stronger autonomous regulation. These findings suggest that accessible sport resources, an active participation climate, and recognition of sport value may be relevant considerations when developing profile-sensitive physical activity programs in higher vocational colleges.
Objective This study aims to identify the latent profiles of secondary traumatic stress-secondary posttraumatic growth (STS-SPTG) among clinical nurses and explore factors associated with profile membership. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to recruit clinical nurses from a provincial tertiary Grade A hospital in Anhui Province between June and August 2024. Data were collected using the general information questionnaire, the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, the Secondary Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, the 10-item Big Five Inventory, and the Social Support Rating Scale. Latent profile analysis was performed to identify distinct STS-SPTG profiles among clinical nurses, and multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to explore factors associated with profile membership. Results A total of 496 valid questionnaires were collected. Three latent profiles of STS-SPTG were identified among clinical nurses: the low-response profile (34.3%), the high-risk profile (42.3%), and the positive-growth profile (23.4%). Self-rated health status, job satisfaction, perceived job burnout, administrative position, personality traits, and social support were associated with latent profile membership among clinical nurses ( p < 0.05). Conclusion Clinical nurses exhibited substantial heterogeneity in STS-SPTG patterns. The identified profiles and associated factors may provide preliminary evidence for early identification and stratified supportive approaches for nurses with different psychological response patterns. However, associations involving personality traits should be interpreted cautiously and require further validation in future studies.
