This study was motivated by the need to develop learning approaches that encourage active student engagement in understanding pre-production materials in the Fundamentals of Film Studies subject at vocational high schools. Conventional instruction needs to be examined in comparison with learning models that provide students with opportunities to study materials independently before participating in classroom activities. This study aimed to determine the difference in learning outcomes between students taught using the Flipped Classroom model and those taught through conventional instruction in Grade X of the Film Production program at SMK Negeri 1 Ngasem. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design was employed. The participants consisted of 68 students, comprising 35 students from class X PF 2 as the experimental group and 33 students from class X PF 3 as the control group. Data were collected through pretests and posttests. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Mann–Whitney U test. The Mann–Whitney U test yielded a significance value of p < 0.001, with a mean rank of 50.29 for the experimental group and 17.76 for the control group. These findings indicate a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups, with the experimental group demonstrating a higher mean rank than the control group. Therefore, the Flipped Classroom model has the potential to serve as an alternative instructional approach to support students’ learning outcomes in film pre-production. Nevertheless, these findings should be interpreted in consideration of the quasi-experimental design and the possibility of differences in students’ initial abilities between the groups.
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a project-based learning strategy utilizing digital platforms in developing the analytical writing skills of female secondary school students. The study employed a quasi-experimental approach, with a sample consisting of 60 eleventh-grade students from Al-Nuzha Secondary Mixed School, under the Qwaismeh Directorate. The participants were divided equally into two groups: an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). Data were gathered by administering a pre- and post-test of analytical writing to the study sample. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre- and post-assessments of the analytical writing test, favoring the post-test with a mean value of 32.23. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were observed at the significance level (α = 0.05) among the students’ mean scores across the specific dimensions of analytical writing (text introduction, text body, text conclusion, and text coherence). Notably, highly significant differences were detected at the significance level (p = 0.000) in the post-assessment of both the "text body" and "text coherence" dimensions. Based on these findings, the study recommends developing specialized educational digital platforms for the Ministry of Education and integrating them with school textbooks, while emphasizing the necessity of training teachers to effectively utilize and implement these platforms in the educational process, particularly for teaching language. skills.

This study contributes to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) by examining how case-based teaching and threshold concepts promote culturally inclusive pedagogical practices among pre-service teachers (PSTs). Our research design reflects SoTL principles by taking a systematic, transparent, iterative, and collaborative approach to collecting, analysing, and sharing data. Our work is explicitly aligned with theoretical frameworks, and we address unresolved issues in order to facilitate transformative learning. We aimed to explore how PSTs perceive culturally inclusive pedagogy and professional competence in a case-based course. Three key findings emerged: increased awareness of classroom diversity, a change in the PSTs’ understanding of culturally inclusive teaching, and resistance to exploratory learning designs. Many PSTs demonstrated transformative learning and sound professional judgment. However, some expressed resistance and uncertainty, underscoring the importance of scaffolding and support. The findings align with the literature on threshold concepts as gateways to boundary crossing and a deeper understanding of diversity in SoTL. The results highlight the potential of case-based teaching to encourage metacognitive reflection and to promote inclusive educational practices in teacher education programs. The study demonstrates that designing inquiry-based learning activities that integrate case studies and threshold concepts can facilitate critical reflection and metacognition among PSTs.
This study aims to apply the Project Based Learning model to improve the learning outcomes of Saman Dance among class XI students of SMA Mamiyai Al-Ittihadiyah Medan, based on KD 3.1 “concepts, techniques, and procedures” in the 2013 curriculum. The sample was determined using the Purposive Sampling method through a quantitative descriptive approach, using a 20-question pretest-posttest given to 28 class XI IPA students, with observation, documentation, and literature study as data collection techniques. The study was conducted in 6 meetings to produce a presentation project analyzing Saman Dance. The pretest, given before the Project Based Learning model was used, had an average score of 41, while the posttest after its application had an average score of 86. The t-test shows that t-count = 27.192 > t-table = 1.703 (df = 27, α = 0.05), so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, applying the Project Based Learning model improves Saman Dance learning outcomes among class XI students of SMA Mamiyai Al-Ittihadiyah Medan.
This study examined teachers' readiness, attitudes, challenges, lived experiences, and assessed effectiveness of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in the Division of Bohol during School Year 2026–2027 as a basis for a comprehensive action plan. Anchored in program implementation, reading readiness, constructivist, and sociocultural learning perspectives, the study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-method design involving 277 Grade 7 ARAL teachers from 129 public secondary schools. Data were collected using a validated researcher-developed questionnaire and semi-structured interviews and analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple regression, and thematic analysis. Findings revealed high teacher readiness (M = 3.16), highly favorable attitudes (M = 3.22), highly encountered challenges (M = 2.88), and highly assessed program effectiveness (M = 3.08). Regression analysis showed that readiness, attitudes, and challenges significantly predicted assessed effectiveness (R² = 0.643, p < .001), explaining 64.3% of its variance, with attitudes emerging as the strongest predictor. Teachers reported challenges involving limited instructional time, inadequate resources, additional workloads, irregular learner attendance, and insufficient parental support. Qualitative findings highlighted differentiated instruction, diagnostic assessment, collaboration, and adaptive teaching practices as coping mechanisms. The study concluded that teacher preparedness, positive attitudes, and effective challenge management were essential to ARAL implementation. It recommended continuous professional development, adequate resources, flexible scheduling, stronger stakeholder collaboration, and regular monitoring. The study supported Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting equitable learning recovery and collaborative educational interventions. Its sustainability contribution emphasized institutional capacity building, educational continuity, and strengthened stakeholder participation for long-term program implementation.
Background Despite the substantial growth of research on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in higher education, the field remains characterized by geographic concentration, methodological constraints, and conceptual fragmentation between established competence frameworks and emerging demands such as climate literacy and green skills. No prior review has simultaneously mapped the bibliometric architecture and conducted an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted inductive thematic synthesis of this domain. Methods A dual-method design integrated bibliometric network analysis—co-citation, bibliographic coupling, and keyword co-occurrence—with AI-assisted inductive thematic synthesis. A total of 442 peer-reviewed documents were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, and ERIC (2015–2026) through systematic multi-database search, deduplication, and PICO-adapted relevance screening evaluated by a specialized multi-rater panel (Fleiss’ κ=0.55 – 0.69 , 98.4% unanimous agreement on the retained corpus). Thematic extraction was performed using two complementary large language model architectures (Qwen3-235B and DeepSeek V3.2), governed by a stringent verification protocol achieving a 92.0% alignment score; 37 hallucination flags were audited and corrected via human expert review. Results The corpus exhibits substantial and accelerated scientific expansion since 2019 ( R2=0.91 for exponential fit; compound annual growth rate of 18.4%), with Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany accounting for over one-third of output. Five thematic clusters emerged: curriculum integration, transformative pedagogies, institutional and faculty roles, sustainability literacy and behavioral outcomes, and digital innovation. Surveys and case studies dominate research designs (37.7%), while experimental approaches represent only 4.0% of the corpus. Green skills and climate literacy remain conceptually peripheral despite their policy urgency, institutional collaboration is fragmented (20.3% of institutions isolated), and faculty populations are understudied (7.0%) relative to students (32.7%). Fifty-six knowledge gaps were identified across structural, declared, and emergent categories, with methods-by-concepts coverage reaching 64.0%. Conclusions The field would benefit from a methodological transition toward longitudinal and experimental designs, enhanced visibility of Global South scholarship (contextualizing database indexing constraints), systematic pedagogical theorization of simulation-based approaches, and deliberate cross-institutional consortia to transition from conceptual proliferation to evidence-based pedagogical science.
Professional communication is an important learning outcome in higher education, yet different active learning pedagogies may provide different communicative affordances for its development and enactment. This study comparatively examined how four active learning pedagogies-group discussion, role play, case study analysis, and student-led seminars-were associated with professional communication across five dimensions: clarity and precision, logical structuring, adaptability and tone, active listening, and persuasive expression. Using a mixed-methods, within-subject repeated-measures design, data were collected from 72 postgraduate management students across two cohorts. All participants experienced the four pedagogies through a Latin Square rotation. Data were drawn from pre-post self-reports, instructor-rated session-level communication performance, and qualitative reflections. Findings were examined across three analytical levels. At the aggregate level, pre-post results indicated significant gains in students’ self-perceived communication competence across both cohorts. These findings indicate perceived development rather than objective gains in demonstrated competence. At the session level, observed communication performance varied across pedagogical conditions, with group discussion and role play associated with higher performance scores than case study analysis and student-led seminars. At the dimension level, qualitative findings revealed distinct pedagogy-dimension linkages. Group discussion was associated with clarity, logical structuring, active listening, and persuasive expression, whereas role play was particularly associated with adaptability and contextual responsiveness. The findings suggest that active learning pedagogies should not be treated as interchangeable approaches to communication development. Instead, their communicative affordances may be considered in relation to specific instructional objectives and desired dimensions of professional communication. The study contributes a differentiated account of how pedagogical structures shape opportunities for communication enactment and provides an evidence-informed basis for aligning active learning design with professional communication objectives in higher education.
ABSTRACT Differences in Arabic language-use environments offer a perspective for understanding why speaking instruction does not always provide learners with comparable language experiences. This study examines mahārah taḥadduts through a comparison of the Arabic Language Education Program at UIN Raden Intan Lampung, Indonesia, and the Arabic Literature Program at Yarmouk University, Jordan. A qualitative approach was employed using a comparative case study design. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews with lecturers, program heads, students, and alumni, as well as document analysis. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, supplemented by within-case and cross-case analyses, while triangulation was employed to establish data trustworthiness. Both programs demonstrated relatively similar instructional patterns involving topic selection, preparation, presentations, dialogue, and question-and-answer sessions. The most notable distinction concerned their language-use environments. At UIN Raden Intan Lampung, speaking practice was largely confined to formally structured learning settings (by design), whereas at Yarmouk University, Arabic was also used in academic interactions and everyday communication (given). These differences were associated with variations in practice opportunities, forms of oral production, and affective-linguistic barriers, without treating the language environment as the sole determining factor. These findings inform the proposed Tiered Oral Production Model, which distinguishes scheduled production (Layer 1) from contextual production (Layer 2). Developing speaking proficiency therefore requires broader opportunities to use Arabic beyond the classroom, alongside further testing of the model across diverse educational contexts.
In the modern world, students should be equipped with critical thinking, problem-solving, and autonomous learning skills. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is designed to foster these competencies by shifting the focus from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered learning. However, many instructors struggle with this transition and tend to take control of the classroom instead of encouraging students to take charge of their own learning. This study investigates how teachers implement PBL and what factors contribute to teacher dominance in a student-centered approach. We employed a mixed-methods design, incorporating classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with 20 teachers from two universities in East Java, Indonesia. Findings revealed that teachers correctly implemented only 37.50% of PBL phases, while in 62.50% of cases, the instructors misapplied or didn’t complete the PBL phase. Teacher-centered activities dominated 64.17% of classroom interactions, limiting opportunities for learner autonomy. Interview results highlighted that many teachers misunderstood problem presentation, while some believed PBL was only effective for high-achieving students. These findings highlight a need for targeted professional development programs to help teachers become facilitators rather than content deliverers. Without proper training, PBL risks becoming a modified version of traditional teaching. Future research should explore long-term changes in teacher autonomy and incorporate students’ perspectives in order to better understand the impact of PBL implementation.
Secondary students in Malaysia turn away from STEM partly because the curriculum content is abstract and disconnected from real life. This mixed-methods study evaluated a Student-as-Trendsetter framework in which 10 gifted students codesigned 3D-printed STEM kits and mentored 88 peers. The classroom participants highly rated the peer-led sessions (M = 4.14–4.57), including the trendsetters’ expertise (M = 4.35). The trendsetters’ self-rated technical competency decreased significantly after the project (from 4.30–4.90 to 1.80–3.00; p < .001). Reflective journals showed that this decline was a healthy recalibration: moving from digital design to physical fabrication exposed real engineering constraints and built grounded, resilient confidence. The framework offers a low-cost route to engaging in student-led STEM learning.
Although classical poetry is central to Chinese language education, how poetry learning is linked to writing development has rarely been characterized empirically. This one-year longitudinal study followed 1,920 students in Grades 3–6 from 48 classes in 12 primary schools across four waves and applied a four-level growth model (measurement occasions nested within students, students within classes, and classes within schools). The cognitive load components were indexed provisionally by NASA-TLX subscales, and results that depend on their distinction are interpreted as preliminary. Eight confirmatory tests were controlled with the Holm procedure and all remaining analyses were reported as exploratory with Benjamini-Hochberg control; a random-intercept cross-lagged panel model examined within-person lagged associations, which inform rather than establish the ordering of the modeled associations; and the 12-school highest level was examined with leave-one-school-out refits, a wild cluster bootstrap, prior sensitivity analyses, a school fixed-effects model, and a calibrated Monte Carlo simulation. Intrinsic (β = −0.41) and extraneous (β = −0.49) cognitive load were negatively and germane cognitive load (β = 0.45) positively associated with writing ability (Holm-adjusted p < .001), and schema construction, imagery processing, and emotional resonance carried statistical indirect associations totaling 0.587 (76.2% of the total association). The interaction of teaching method with cognitive load ( γ = 0.47, Holm-adjusted p = .011) was retained under all small-cluster sensitivity analyses, whereas the interactions with grade and class environment were exploratory and the school-level variance component was imprecisely estimated, and writing ability followed a mildly decelerating quadratic trajectory ( π 2 = −0.17 points per wave², Holm-adjusted p < .001). With imputation, centering, model reselection, refitting, and BLUP computation confined to the training folds, prediction for new students in the sampled classes and schools reached R 2 = 0.847 and RMSE = 4.28, meeting the preset RMSE target, whereas three-band accuracy (80.3%) fell short of the preset 85% target, and prediction for unseen classes and schools reached R 2 = 0.768 and 0.656. The findings characterize the multilevel associations between classical poetry learning and writing development and support instructional recommendations restricted to the confirmatory results.
The massive penetration of digital transactions among adolescents presents real financial vulnerability due to low understanding of Islamic economic contracts and ethics. Conventional fiqh learning is often isolated in textual normative memorization without honing students' critical reasoning skills against contemporary realities. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the learning of Fiqh Muamalah and its impact on strengthening students' critical reasoning and sharia financial literacy on digital economy issues. The research design adopts a qualitative approach with a bounded system case study at SMK Darul Musyawirin Cirebon. The research participants include Fiqh Muamalah teachers, vice principals for curriculum, and grade XI students who are directly involved in the learning cycle. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured in-depth interviews, classroom participatory observations, and review of learning portfolio documentation. Data analysis was carried out cyclically through an interactive model of open coding-based data reduction, presentation of thematic matrix data, and conclusion drawing and verification that were validated through source triangulation, member check, and trail audit. The results of the study revealed that organizing learning through the stages of authentic problem orientation (such as paylater, online loans, and digital investment), legal literature investigation, intergroup discussion-rebuttal dialectic, and value reflection succeeded in transforming students' mindsets from textual-reproductive reasoning to contextual-analytic based on postulates. Students showed a surge in competence in distinguishing murabahah margins from time-based interest, identifying the elements of riba, gharar, and maisir, and compiling simple legal arguments of istinbath al-ahkam. In addition, the structural understanding was internalized into behavioral financial literacy that encourages transaction prudence and verification of sharia legality. This instructional model proves that the integration of real issues of the digital economy into the PBL syntax effectively bridges classical fiqh doctrine with modern challenges, while offering a transformative pedagogical framework for vocational Islamic education curriculum.
The authenticity of Islamic Religious Education in elementary schools faces significant contemporary challenges, shifting from transformative character building toward mechanical cognitive memorization. This study aims to re-actualize the core principles of authentic moral learning through a mindful, meaningful, and joyful paradigm tailored for elementary school students. Using a literature study approach with critical-qualitative analysis, this research examines classical and contemporary pedagogical frameworks to synthesize an integrated moral education model. The findings indicate that mindful learning enhances students' self-awareness and spiritual presence, meaningful learning connects religious doctrines with daily life experiences, and joyful learning fosters intrinsic motivation and emotional well-being. Synthesizing these three elements restores the authenticity of IRE, transforming moral learning from rigid doctrinal instruction into a living, transformative spiritual and ethical experience.
Abstract Lifelong learning is important for everyone, individually and collectively within institutions and communities. In today’s “learning society”, learning is not just a process driven by the learning system or the social system; it can also be a process in which the learners play an active role. This article focuses on the Erasmus+ project “Empowerment for migrants, from camps to integration” (CAMPLUS) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Between 2021 and 2022, personal resources management (PRM) training was implemented in three refugee camps in Erbil. The central question driving the project was whether, and how, PRM can transform refugee learners’ ability to define and pursue their developmental goals. This inquiry is rooted in Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy, which promotes dialogical learning as a means of empowering marginalised learners as agents of their own education. PRM integrates the validation of prior learning (VPL) with personalised pathways, based on the belief that competencies, gained formally, informally or experientially, should be recognised as the foundation for further learning. This approach aligns with Freire’s ideal of critical consciousness, which posits learning as a process of naming, reclaiming and transforming one’s reality. Using a qualitative analysis involving 15 refugees and three trainers, the authors explore how learner agency and institutional affordance combine to create meaningful learning outcomes. The study addresses a key gap in research: how reflective, personalised education can function in settings marked by displacement and limited opportunities.
This study examines linguistic and stylistic over-elaboration in beginner Arabic writing produced during a classroom task permitting generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and electronic translation. The study emerged from an Arabic language course involving undergraduate accounting students at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Terengganu Branch, Malaysia. Students were instructed to write a simple birthday invitation addressed to friends, using accessible vocabulary and including specified invitation elements. During the review of approximately 100 submissions, the instructor observed recurring instances of vocabulary, courtesy expressions, and sentence formulations that appeared more sophisticated or formal than expected for the learners' proficiency and the task's communicative purpose. Adopting an exploratory qualitative approach, the study draws on these professional classroom observations, supplemented by the direct examination of three available invitation texts. The analysis considers lexical overreach, stylistic over-elaboration, unnecessary syntactic complexity, register mismatch, and learner-level appropriateness. The findings highlight a pedagogical distinction between linguistic correctness and the suitability of written expression for a beginner's level and communicative situation. They also suggest that apparently sophisticated writing should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of independent linguistic proficiency. Because individual tool use and writing processes were not documented, the study does not attribute particular expressions to GenAI or establish causal effects.
Abstract: Character education in early childhood is often delivered through verbal advice that young children find hard to retain, while their growing exposure to digital screens reduces opportunities to listen to stories told directly by an adult. This community service program aimed to apply pure storytelling, an oral narration that relies on the narrator's voice and body rather than a picture book, to strengthen environmental care and responsibility among kindergarten children. The program was carried out from 30 September to 3 October 2026 at Tunas Harapan II Waru Kindergarten, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, involving about forty-five children and five teachers. The stages consisted of planning, coordination with the school, script and performance preparation, storytelling sessions, evaluation, and dissemination. Data were gathered through participatory observation, oral question-and-answer sessions, short interviews with teachers, and documentation, then analysed descriptively. The story “Misi Pahlawan Bumi” introduced green, yellow, and red bins for organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste. The children followed the story enthusiastically, imitated the voices and movements of the characters, and most of them could name examples of waste for each bin colour. Teachers also gained a practical, low-cost model of storytelling that can be repeated in daily classroom activities. Keywords: character education; early childhood; environmental care; pure storytelling; vocal and gesture Abstrak: Pendidikan karakter bagi anak usia dini masih sering disampaikan melalui nasihat lisan yang sulit diingat anak, sementara meningkatnya paparan layar digital mengurangi kesempatan anak untuk menyimak cerita yang dibawakan langsung oleh orang dewasa.
The article provides a theoretical substantiation of innovative approaches to the methodological training of higher education applicants in the context of current transformation processes in science and education. Based on the analysis of scientific works by Ukrainian and foreign researchers (V. Kremen, M. Kudla, O. Tsuniak, Ye. Lodatko, as well as publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science), three interrelated vectors for improving methodological training are identified – technological, interdisciplinary, and digital – and their integrative significance for the formation of research competence of future specialists is substantiated. Unlike existing approaches that mostly consider these vectors in isolation, the author proposes a vision of their systemic interaction: the technological vector ensures the gradual mastering of research methods through practice-oriented learning; the interdisciplinary vector expands the methodological toolkit by integrating knowledge from related fields (sociology, psychology, statistics, philosophy); the digital vector adapts research activities to the realities of the digital scientific environment (use of SPSS, R, Mendeley, cloud technologies). It has been proven that the synergy of these three vectors creates conditions for the development not only of operational research skills but also of scientific thinking as a metacognitive ability that determines the specialist's readiness for innovative activity. The criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of integrating the proposed approaches (motivational-value, cognitive-operational, and reflexive-creative) are determined. The results of the study can be used to update methodological curricula, develop methodological recommendations for teachers, and design blended learning models for the research training of applicants at the second and third educational levels.
Background: Online learning outcomes may relate to students? preparedness and participation, but intention to continue is distinct from verified institutional retention. This study examined the associations among online learning readiness, student engagement, and retention intention among higher-education students in Kuwait. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional questionnaire was administered online from 1-20 September 2026. The supplied dataset included 100 complete responses recruited through personal contacts and community WhatsApp groups. Readiness (20 items), engagement (24 items), and a broad continuation-related index (19 items) were scored as mean Likert responses. Analyses included descriptive statistics, internal consistency, Pearson and Spearman correlations, and a joint regression with HC3 robust coefficient inference. Results: Mean readiness was 4.398 (SD 0.716), engagement 4.353 (SD 0.727), and the broad continuation-related score 4.258 (SD 0.762), on a five-point scale. Pairwise associations were positive: readiness-engagement, r = .890; readiness-retention intention, r = .792; and engagement-retention intention, r = .832 (all p < .001). In the joint model, engagement remained positively associated with the outcome (B = 0.643, HC3 95% CI 0.382-0.903, p < .001), while the readiness coefficient was uncertain (B = 0.262, 95% CI -0.025-0.549, p = .073). The model explained 70.6% of sample variance; this is not evidence of out-of-sample prediction. A narrower, exploratory direct-intention item subset showed a similar pattern. Conclusion: In this convenience sample, higher self-reported readiness and engagement co-occurred with stronger continuation intentions, with engagement showing the more stable adjusted association. Cross-sectional self-report data, unvalidated item sets, influential observations, and nonprobability recruitment preclude causal or population-wide conclusions. No subsequent enrollment was measured; formal ethics approval was not obtained and requires transparent institutional guidance before publication.
Abstract Educational tracking shapes students’ learning opportunities, yet isolating its effects from prior selection remains a key challenge in large-scale assessment research. This study examines both the size and the mechanisms of academic-track advantages by integrating longitudinal population-level administrative data from INVALSI with school- and student-level indicators from PISA 2018 in Italy. Focusing on lyceums versus technical schools, we exploit rich pre-tracking information on achievement, socio-demographic background, and early attitudes, and apply entropy balancing to adjust for selection into tracks. Results show that achievement gaps at Grade 10 are large across domains, but substantially reduced once differences in prior competencies and backgrounds are accounted for. Nonetheless, a meaningful academic-track advantage persists after balancing. Decomposition analyses indicate that this residual gap is largely explained by differences in school environments, particularly classroom academic and SES composition alongside school climate, while instructional practices and organizational policies or school resources contribute little on average. The findings support a dual interpretation of tracking effects, combining cumulative selection and exposure to differentiated learning contexts, and highlight the value of linking administrative panels with international assessment data to study both outcomes and mechanisms of educational stratification.
