Bambang Mardisentosa; Khusaini Khusaini; Imam Sudarmaji; Nursanda Rizki Adhari; Zindan Baynal Hubi; Rizal Fahmi Jurnal Pendidikan Progresif, 2026, Vol. 16, Issue 4, pp. 2116-2139 https://doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v16i4.pp2116-2139

This study aims to examine the impact of parental involvement and socioeconomic status (SES) on academic achievement at public senior high schools in Tangerang Municipality. The study used a cross-sectional survey design. The study population consisted of students from public senior high schools in Tangerang Municipality. We applied Weighted Regression analysis utilizing a sample size of 893 participants. We used a validated questionnaire that was distributed via WhatsApp groups. The findings showed that parents with high SES tended to be more involved in their children's learning; however, high parental SES did not guarantee high academic achievement for their children. The mean difference tests revealed that academic achievement did not differ significantly by parental involvement, whereas it did differ significantly by parental SES. Researchers also found that parents’ involvement in education significantly boosted students' academic achievement. In contrast, parents' SES did not have a significant impact. Intensive discussions, good communication, full attention, giving gifts, and providing learning facilities are effective parental involvement actions that encourage increases in children's academic achievement. Parental involvement matters more than parental SES in improving students’ academic achievement. Therefore, maintaining strong relationships between schools and parents is essential to support students’ educational outcomes. Local governments need to strengthen regulations governing parents' roles at home and at school. Keywords: academic achievement, parental involvement, SES.

Perceived Parental Pressure and Academic Stress Among School Students Aged 16-18 Years in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu

Renugadevi Sivalingam International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2026, Vol. 15, Issue 10, pp. 1756-1758 https://doi.org/10.21275/sr261025064653

Academic expectations can be an important part of adolescent development, but students may experience these expectations as pressure. This study examined perceived parental pressure and academic stress among school students aged 16-18 years in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, and assessed the association between the two variables. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design was used. Convenience sampling yielded 61 consenting students. Data were collected through an online structured questionnaire containing a 20-item perceived parental-pressure measure and a 30-item academic-stress measure. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, and Pearson's product-moment correlation were used. The mean perceived parental-pressure score was 52.31 (SD = 17.07), and the mean academic-stress score was 85.62 (SD = 22.59). Internal consistency was high in this sample (α = .95 and .96, respectively). Perceived parental pressure was positively associated with academic stress, r = .38, p = .003, 95% CI [.14, .57]. Students reporting greater perceived parental pressure tended to report greater academic stress. Because the study was cross-sectional and used a convenience sample, the findings do not establish causation and should not be generalised to all adolescents. The results highlight the value of realistic academic expectations, supportive family communication, and accessible school-based student support.

Pola Komunikasi Interpersonal Orang Tua dalam Mengendalikan TikTok pada Anak di Villa Gading Harapan 5 Bekasi

Andini Anggraeni Konsensus Jurnal Ilmu Pertahanan Hukum dan Ilmu Komunikasi, 2026, Vol. 3, Issue 5, pp. 101-114 https://doi.org/10.62383/konsensus.v3i5.1961

The widespread availability of smartphones and internet access has made TikTok part of children’s everyday entertainment. This situation requires parents to guide children not only by limiting screen time but also through communication that helps children understand appropriate content and use. This study aims to describe and analyse parents’ interpersonal communication patterns in controlling TikTok use among children aged 7–12 years in Villa Gading Harapan 5 Housing Estate, Tambun Utara, Bekasi. The study used a descriptive qualitative design. Data were collected from April to June 2026 through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Five parents were selected as key informants using purposive sampling, while two children participated as supporting informants. The data were analysed through data reduction, presentation, conclusion drawing, and technique triangulation. The findings show that parents apply the five elements of effective interpersonal communication proposed by Joseph A. DeVito: openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality. Supportiveness is the most visible element, expressed through advice about age-appropriate content, direct supervision, time limits, and diversion to other activities. Openness remains the most vulnerable element because one child tended to restrict parental access to digital activities. The study indicates that controlling TikTok use is more effective when rules are accompanied by warm dialogue, emotional understanding, and opportunities for children to express their views. Parents should therefore maintain consistent, non-judgmental conversations and make digital supervision part of daily family interaction.

Preparing the Study Guides and Extensions Menu for Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSENs): Towards Tools for Independent Study

Merlita Salao International Journal of Education, Research, and Innovation Perspectives, 2026, Vol. 2, Issue 10 https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23435042

This study examined parent assessments of teachers’ practices in preparing study guides and extension menus for learners with special educational needs (LSENs), with the objective of informing tools for independent study. A descriptive survey combining correlational and comparative analyses involved 45 parent-respondents of learners at Manggahan Elementary School, General Trias, Cavite. A researcher-developed and expert-reviewed questionnaire used a four-point response scale. Frequencies, percentages, weighted means, the reported Kendall and chi-square statistics, and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used. Most respondents were female (80%) and identified as parents rather than grandparents or guardians (93%); ages 35–39 and 40–44 each comprised 27%. Parents rated teachers’ preparation of study guides (M = 3.37) and extension menus (M = 3.28) favorably, with an overall mean of 3.34 (SD = 0.47). The reported Kendall statistic was 0.0150 (χ² = 0.6757, p = .4111), indicating no statistically significant association or concordance between the two practice assessments under the stated test. Comparisons by age, sex, and family role were likewise nonsignificant (all p > .05). These findings describe favorable parent perceptions but do not establish improvements in learners’ independent-study outcomes. The study supports coordinated planning of accessible study guides and differentiated extension-menu choices, professional development in inclusive instructional design, and stronger family–school communication.
