Digital technology is increasingly being incorporated into higher education, creating new ways to teach and interact with students. However, technology alone does not necessarily enhance student engagement. This study investigates the effects of four Technology-Integrated Curriculum dimensions on Student Engagement. A quantitative research design was adopted. A survey questionnaire was completed by 388 hinger education students from Shandong Province in China. The four dimensions studied were Balance of Curriculum, Technology, and Pedagogy; Content Knowledge and Supports Meaningful Learning; Enables Differentiated Instruction; and Encourages Innovation. Data analysis using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results showed significant positive effects of all four study dimensions on Student Engagement (p < .001). Enables Differentiated Instruction demonstrated the strongest effect (? = .430, t = 12.358), followed by Balance of Curriculum, Technology, and Pedagogy (? = .408, t = 13.934), Encourages Innovation (? = .406, t = 12.237), and Content Knowledge and Supports Meaningful Learning (? = .364, t = 11.326). All four alternative hypotheses (Ha1–Ha4) were supported. The findings reveal the significance of the integration of technology with appropriate pedagogy and curriculum rather than regarding technology as an independent educational medium. This study, therefore, provides empirical evidence of how technology-integrated curriculum influences Student Engagement within the context of Chinese higher education. More importantly, higher education institutions should focus more on strengthening technology-supported differentiated instruction and fostering meaningful learning, pedagogical alignment, and innovation in the Technology-Integrated Curriculum for future studies. Future studies should examine the relationships between various entities with diverse configurations.
Although Kurikulum Merdeka promotes flexible, student-centered learning, the implementation of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) instruction in elementary schools continues to face various challenges. This study aimed to describe the challenges in implementing IPAS instruction under Kurikulum Merdeka in Grade V at SD Negeri 005 Desa Baru, Kampar Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving two fifth-grade teachers and six purposively selected students. Three students had IPAS scores above 75, and three had scores below 75. Data were collected through nonparticipant observation, structured interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was assessed through triangulation of sources and data collection techniques. The findings identified three domains of challenges related to students, teachers, and learning assessment. Student-related challenges were the most prominent, including differences in understanding, declining attention after approximately 15–20 minutes of lecturing, interest that depended on the type of activity, uneven participation, dependence on external motivation, inconsistent task management, and varying levels of learning readiness. Teacher-related challenges included the breadth of integrated science and social studies content and classroom management during group activities. Assessment involved oral quizzes and student worksheets, supplemented by remedial instruction and enrichment. Achievement scores ranged from 60 to 96, with a mastery threshold of 75. These findings underscore the need for differentiated instruction, concrete and contextually relevant instructional media, clearly assigned group roles, time management, and the use of assessment results to improve instruction. This study provides a contextual account of challenges in IPAS instruction and the need to adapt fifth-grade teaching practices. Its restriction to one school and a focused observation period highlights the need for further research covering more lessons and IPAS topics.
While research into inclusivity and dyslexia, a neurodevelopmental condition affecting language learning, has gained greater attention, multilevel stakeholders’ perspectives across both public schools and teacher education programs remain underexplored. Addressing this gap, this study adapts the broader UNESCO Policy Review Framework as a lens for investigating dyslexia-friendly inclusive practices among ELT stakeholders, including in-service teachers, school administrators, teacher educators, and university administrators in the Riau Islands, Indonesia. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, this study gathered data through questionnaires, classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews. Subsequently, data were analyzed via descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Results revealed limited awareness of dyslexia and inclusive education, alongside misconceptions and reliance on special schools. Although inclusive practices were evident (mainly differentiated instruction), specific support for students with dyslexia remained unaddressed. Despite inclusion being viewed positively and mandated within the education system, its implementation remained weak. The study offers implications for systemic reform, suggesting that ELT stakeholders enhance their inclusive practices through training and developing inclusive institutional management. Additionally, teacher education institutions should pursue curricular adjustments to incorporate dyslexia-friendly inclusive practices.
This study examined teachers' readiness, attitudes, challenges, lived experiences, and assessed effectiveness of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in the Division of Bohol during School Year 2026–2027 as a basis for a comprehensive action plan. Anchored in program implementation, reading readiness, constructivist, and sociocultural learning perspectives, the study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-method design involving 277 Grade 7 ARAL teachers from 129 public secondary schools. Data were collected using a validated researcher-developed questionnaire and semi-structured interviews and analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple regression, and thematic analysis. Findings revealed high teacher readiness (M = 3.16), highly favorable attitudes (M = 3.22), highly encountered challenges (M = 2.88), and highly assessed program effectiveness (M = 3.08). Regression analysis showed that readiness, attitudes, and challenges significantly predicted assessed effectiveness (R² = 0.643, p < .001), explaining 64.3% of its variance, with attitudes emerging as the strongest predictor. Teachers reported challenges involving limited instructional time, inadequate resources, additional workloads, irregular learner attendance, and insufficient parental support. Qualitative findings highlighted differentiated instruction, diagnostic assessment, collaboration, and adaptive teaching practices as coping mechanisms. The study concluded that teacher preparedness, positive attitudes, and effective challenge management were essential to ARAL implementation. It recommended continuous professional development, adequate resources, flexible scheduling, stronger stakeholder collaboration, and regular monitoring. The study supported Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting equitable learning recovery and collaborative educational interventions. Its sustainability contribution emphasized institutional capacity building, educational continuity, and strengthened stakeholder participation for long-term program implementation.
Research on fitrah-based education is mostly conceptual or situated in early childhood and primary schools; its implementation in junior high schools bound by the national curriculum remains underexplored. This qualitative case study describes the forms of implementation, strategies for developing students' academic and spiritual potential, supporting and inhibiting factors, and implications for students at SMP Ar-Rauf Tangerang. Data came from interviews with seven informants, observation, and documents, analyzed with the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. Four forms of implementation emerged: an integrated curriculum, learning centered on students' uniqueness, narrative assessment (Rapor Fitrah), and a nurturing school culture. Potential was developed through talent mapping, personalized Qur'an memorization, nature-based entrepreneurship, and differentiated instruction. Educator vision, parental involvement, and the environment supported implementation; tension with the national curriculum, teacher workload, and varied parental understanding inhibited it. The study proposes the Formal School Fitrah Ecosystem model.
Despite the recognized importance of youth participation in agricultural production for food security, Cash crop production and rural development, its engagement among youth in Tanzania remains remarkably low. In Badugu Ward, Bariadi District, for instance, only about 30% of youth participate in agricultural production despite abundant family land. This study explored the influence of land inheritance systems on youth participation in agricultural production in Badugu Ward, Bariadi District in Simiyu Region, Tanzania. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study focuses on the lived experiences of thirty (30) youth participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, Focus Group Discussions and observation, analyzed thematically following Braun and Clarke's (2006) six-step framework. Findings reveal that decisions are heavily influenced by elders authority, clan norms and gendered inheritance practices, where the credibility of family elders and the rigidity of cultural norms significantly shape youth access to land. Notably, social pressures, particularly from elders and male family members, discourage youth, especially women, from claiming land. Recommendations emphasize enhancing community engagement through consistent communication, education initiatives, and leveraging peer testimonials to foster trust and mitigate uncertainty about land transfer. Overall, the study highlights the complexity of socio-cultural dynamics in agricultural land access and suggests that effective strategies for promoting youth participation must address these collective influences.

This study concludes that FKKG can serve as a strategic educational management instrument for strengthening curriculum implementation through collaborative professional development, organizational support, and sustainable improvement of teacher practices.
This qualitative descriptive study examined the perspectives of teachers with direct experience implementing the push-in model in general education classrooms in selected schools in Nevada, California, Arizona, and New Mexico, United States. It explored perceived educational value, implementation challenges, collaborative practices, professional roles, and opportunities for growth, and used the findings to formulate the Collaborative Push-In Enhancement Program (C-PEP). Participants were purposively selected from teachers experienced in push-in delivery or collaboration; the methodology described 11 co-participants, although another part of the dissertation reports a different sample count. Semi-structured interview accounts were examined using the six-phase thematic-analysis approach described in the dissertation. Five overarching themes were developed: push-in as inclusive and collaborative support for diverse learners; navigation of instructional, structural, and relational challenges; collaboration as the foundation of effective implementation; evolving instructional roles and complementary push-in/pull-out functions; and professional growth with holistic student development. Participants described greater classroom participation, confidence, access to grade-level teaching, and belonging, while emphasizing constrained planning time, scheduling, resources, and ambiguous teacher roles. The proposed C-PEP integrates differentiated instruction, problem-solving, co-planning, role clarification, mentoring, learner monitoring, and sustainability measures. Findings concern teachers’ reported experiences rather than independently measured student outcomes. The study highlights how inclusive practice depends on both responsive instruction and organizational support.
This study examined teacher self-efficacy, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) integration, and their predictive relationships with teacher effectiveness in the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in the Tagbilaran City Division, Bohol, Philippines. Anchored in Social Cognitive Theory, the Prosocial Classroom Model, the CASEL SEL Framework, Self-Determination Theory, and Emotional Intelligence Theory, the study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. Quantitative respondents comprised 202 ARAL teachers and 23 school heads or designated supervisors from eight public junior high schools. The qualitative phase involved 15 teachers and five supervisory participants. Data were collected using a validated, researcher-developed questionnaire, open-ended questions, and interviews, and analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple regression, Welch’s t-test, and thematic analysis. Findings revealed high teacher self-efficacy (M = 3.99), SEL integration, and teacher effectiveness. SEL integration significantly and positively predicted content knowledge and pedagogy (R² = .154), assessment and reporting (R² = .520), and learning environment (R² = .537), whereas teacher self-efficacy showed no statistically significant unique contribution after accounting for SEL integration. Teachers’ and supervisors’ assessments showed no significant differences. Challenges included learner disengagement, language barriers, diverse learning needs, inadequate instructional resources, insufficient training, and monitoring difficulties. Professional commitment, instructional adaptability, supportive relationships, and administrative assistance facilitated implementation. The study recommends sustained SEL-focused professional development, differentiated instruction, strengthened supervision, and systematic learner monitoring. It supports Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through inclusive learning recovery, socio-emotional support, and teacher welfare. Introduction Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has emerged as a prominent framework for promoting inclusive education by addressing learner variability through flexible curriculum design, instruction, and assessment. Although interest in UDL has expanded globally, evidence regarding its implementation in primary mathematics education remains fragmented across diverse educational contexts. This systematic review synthesized empirical evidence on UDL implementation in primary mathematics education and developed an evidence-informed integrative framework to guide research and practice. Methods The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA 2020) guidelines. Searches conducted in Scopus and Web of Science identified 168 records, from which 14 studies met the inclusion criteria. Methodological quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT, Version 2018), and data were synthesized through thematic analysis. Results Three substantive themes emerged: instructional practices supporting UDL implementation, educational outcomes associated with UDL implementation, and contextual challenges and enabling factors. The findings revealed that effective UDL implementation was characterized by differentiated instruction, multiple means of representation, engagement, and action and expression, supported by accessible learning resources and digital technologies. These practices were associated with improved mathematics achievement, conceptual understanding, learner engagement, participation, and accessibility. However, successful implementation depended on sustained teacher professional development, institutional support, and equitable access to instructional resources. Discussion The review informed the development of an evidence-informed integrative framework that contextualizes UDL implementation within primary mathematics education. By linking enabling conditions, instructional practices, contextual influences, and learner outcomes, the framework extends existing UDL applications and offers a comprehensive model for advancing inclusive mathematics education. The findings underscore the importance of systemic support structures in ensuring effective and sustainable UDL implementation.
General Background Pesantren-based madrasas integrate national curricula with Islamic traditions to build academic and religious competencies simultaneously. Specific Background The increasing enrollment of daily commuting learners creates institutional challenges regarding their limited exposure to intensive religious environments compared to dormitory residents. As inclusive education expands, PreK–12 classrooms increasingly include learners with diverse strengths, needs, and learning profiles. Teacher preparation programs are expected to prepare educators to support this diversity in inclusive settings. Preservice educators also bring varied backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs to coursework, requiring teacher educators to design learning environments that are responsive to this variability while preparing special education candidates to support diverse learners in PreK–12 classrooms. However, instructional approaches in teacher preparation do not always reflect these principles, and preservice educators may learn about inclusive instructional frameworks without experiencing how they are enacted in practice. This article introduces the Plan–Model–Embed framework, which integrates universal design for learning and differentiated instruction within teacher preparation coursework. The framework supports teacher educators in planning for learner variability, modeling instructional decision-making, and embedding opportunities for reflection and application across coursework. Drawing on course-based examples, the framework is illustrated through approaches to differentiating content, process, and product to support preservice educators with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs. These practices position preservice educators to both experience inclusive instructional approaches and examine their application within authentic learning contexts.
This study aims to analyze the implementation of Deep Learning based on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in creating meaningful learning in elementary schools. The diversity of students’ abilities requires teachers to provide learning experiences that are appropriate to students’ initial competencies, needs, and characteristics. TaRL focuses on identifying students’ actual learning levels through diagnostic assessment, flexible grouping, and appropriate learning interventions, while Deep Learning emphasizes three main principles: mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. This study uses a literature review method to examine various previous studies on the implementation of Deep Learning based on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in fostering meaningful learning in elementary schools. The findings indicate that the integration of TaRL and Deep Learning can support differentiated learning by aligning learning materials, activities, media, and assistance with students’ ability levels. Previous studies also report improvements in learning outcomes, student engagement, motivation, conceptual understanding, and participation. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including the accuracy of diagnostic assessments, limited instructional time, large class sizes, teacher readiness, preparation of differentiated learning resources, and students’ and parents’ acceptance of ability-based grouping. Therefore, the integration of Deep Learning and TaRL has the potential to create adaptive, active, contextual, and meaningful learning experiences in elementary schools through continuous assessment, flexible grouping, appropriate learning strategies, and strong teacher and school support.
(Teaching at the Right Level یا TaRL) در ایجاد یادگیری معنادار در مدارس ابتدایی است.
This study examined parent assessments of teachers’ practices in preparing study guides and extension menus for learners with special educational needs (LSENs), with the objective of informing tools for independent study. A descriptive survey combining correlational and comparative analyses involved 45 parent-respondents of learners at Manggahan Elementary School, General Trias, Cavite. A researcher-developed and expert-reviewed questionnaire used a four-point response scale. Frequencies, percentages, weighted means, the reported Kendall and chi-square statistics, and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used. Most respondents were female (80%) and identified as parents rather than grandparents or guardians (93%); ages 35–39 and 40–44 each comprised 27%. Parents rated teachers’ preparation of study guides (M = 3.37) and extension menus (M = 3.28) favorably, with an overall mean of 3.34 (SD = 0.47). The reported Kendall statistic was 0.0150 (χ² = 0.6757, p = .4111), indicating no statistically significant association or concordance between the two practice assessments under the stated test. Comparisons by age, sex, and family role were likewise nonsignificant (all p > .05). These findings describe favorable parent perceptions but do not establish improvements in learners’ independent-study outcomes. The study supports coordinated planning of accessible study guides and differentiated extension-menu choices, professional development in inclusive instructional design, and stronger family–school communication.
This study aims to comprehensively examine the potential of the Türkiye Century Education Model Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum to support the development of gifted students. It considers whether, and to what extent, the curriculum offers differentiated and flexible practices suited to gifted students’ academic development needs in mathematics and their educational needs. For the analysis, the curriculum was divided into seven sections: its fundamental approach and specific objectives, principles of implementation, the structure of the curriculum, and the themes for Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. The sections were then analysed thematically as part of document analysis. The findings show that the curriculum largely helps meet gifted students’ academic development needs in mathematics by fostering higher-order thinking and metacognitive skills, although it remains limited in some respects. Its content was found to have features capable of meeting students’ educational needs. The findings nevertheless suggest that the process component should be enriched to help students feel valued and increase their motivation. They further suggest that the product component should respond more closely to students’ interests and that assessment should provide continuity throughout the process. Further studies are recommended to examine, at the implementation level, how well the curriculum meets gifted students’ developmental and educational needs in school settings.
Background-Principals in inclusive schools must supervise instruction for students with special needs (SEN), yet little is known about how supervision reaches differentiated literacy instruction where specialist staff are scarce. Objectives- This study analyzes how a principal, as supervisor and educator, manages the instructional program and oversees differentiated literacy learning for SEN students. Methods- An instrumental single-case study was conducted at SDN 8 Sintang, an inclusive elementary school in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Participants included one principal, one classroom teacher, one special assistant teacher (SAT), and five SEN students. Interviews, observations, and documents were analyzed using NVivo 15. Results-Participants described scheduled supervision aimed at differentiation and a redefinition of literacy achievement as individual progress. Differentiation appeared divided between the classroom teacher (content) and the SAT (process and assessment), although observed collaboration was inconsistent and students' communication about reading content was limited. Reported barriers were structural: the SAT ratio, incomplete individualized education program documentation, and limited special-pedagogy training. Conclusions-Within this school, the principal's dual role was perceived to support differentiated literacy work; the findings are tentative given one informant per adult role and five heterogeneous students. The study offers a context-bound proposition linking supervision, teacher SAT collaboration, and affective literacy habituation for testing.
Inclusive education aims to offer equitable learning opportunities, meaningful participation, and a sense of belonging to students with special needs within regular school environments. This study examined teachers lived experiences in implementing inclusive education and the support strategies they employed to address the diverse needs of learners. Utilizing a phenomenological qualitative design, the study involved eight regular classroom teachers from Van Lang School and Doan Thi Diem Halong School in Halong City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered through semi-structured individual interviews and analyzed using a thematic analysis. The findings identified eight themes: inclusive education as equality and belonging, flexible and differentiated teaching strategies, peer support and meaningful participation, emotional and behavioral management, limited formal training and experiential learning, collaboration with parents and school personnel, challenges in resources, time, and classroom management, and positive experiences of student success and inclusion. Teachers noted that inclusive education requires patience, adaptability, collaboration, continuous learning, and meaningful opportunities for students to participate. The findings further suggest that effective inclusion requires more than individual teacher efforts; it relies on professional development, adequate resources, collaborative support, systematic monitoring, and a supportive classroom culture. Based on the findings, an Inclusive Classroom Support and Development (ICSD) Framework was proposed to enhance teacher capacity, stakeholder collaboration, classroom resources, student-centered engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and inclusive classroom culture. This study highlights the importance of coordinated school-level support to strengthen inclusive education practices and improve the experiences of students with special needs in regular school settings.
Abstract : This study explored the experiences of multigrade teachers in managing classrooms in a rural elementary school as the basis for the development of Project ELEVATE-MG (Enhancing Learner Engagement and Versatile Approaches in Teaching for Effective Multigrade Education). This study employed an action research design to describe the classroom management experiences and needs of multigrade teachers and develop a context-responsive intervention. Data was gathered from three multigrade teachers and one school head through interviews and a post-intervention Google Form survey. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the experiences of the participants, while descriptive-narrative analysis describes participants’ feedback on the intervention. Findings revealed challenges involving instructional complexity, learner behavior, low engagement and participation, and curriculum implementation. Teachers employed strategies such as jump-jump, differentiated instruction, peer teaching, and individualized instruction to address learners’ varied needs. They also utilized flexible classroom management styles and utilized available resources and technology. The findings further indicated that teachers identified continuing needs for strategies, instructional resources, and professional support in managing the classroom. These identified needs informed the development of Project ELEVATE-MG through a LAC session focusing on learner engagement strategies and classroom management practices. Participants described the intervention as practical, relevant, and applicable to their teaching context, reporting increased confidence, enhanced classroom management, and instructional practices. The study recommends sustained professional development, mentoring, and LAC sessions to support multigrade teachers in addressing the classroom management and instructional challenges.

Introduction Differentiated instruction (DI) requires teachers to interpret learner diversity and make adaptive pedagogical decisions within the opportunities and constraints of their professional contexts. This study examined how secondary school English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers and teacher educators in Türkiye understood and experienced DI, with particular attention to teacher beliefs, perceived professional agency, and motivational considerations. Methods This qualitative interpretive phenomenological study involved semi-structured interviews with 14 EFL teachers and six teacher educators. Data were analyzed through an inductive, interpretive form of thematic analysis informed by Braun and Clarke’s six-phase procedure. Results Both participant groups understood DI as an inclusive and ethically responsive approach addressing differences in learner readiness, interests, language proficiency, learning pace, and support needs. Teachers associated DI with stronger student engagement, motivation, participation, and language development, but reported a persistent mismatch between their pedagogical intentions and their capacity to act on them. Large classes, limited planning time, curriculum rigidity, resource inequalities, and examination pressures constrained adaptive decision-making and weakened perceived professional agency. Teacher educators similarly identified a gap between pre-service teachers’ conceptual knowledge and their ability to respond flexibly to learner diversity in authentic classrooms. Discussion The findings conceptualize DI as a contextually negotiated practice shaped by the interaction of teacher beliefs, professional agency, motivational commitment, teacher preparation, and institutional conditions. The study highlights the need for practice-based teacher education, sustained professional learning, and organizational environments that enable psychologically responsive and inclusive EFL instruction.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has intensified longstanding questions about teachers' roles and the pedagogical conditions under which technology supports learner autonomy. This qualitatively driven embedded mixed-methods study examined practices reported and represented by Israeli teachers during an eight-week professional development program on AI, self-regulated learning, and learner-centered pedagogy. The primary qualitative strand drew on reflections, open-ended questionnaire responses, lesson plans, and pedagogical artifacts and used a hybrid deductive-inductive analysis. An exploratory quantitative strand compared 61 consenting pre-program submissions with 26 consenting post-program submissions. Because submissions were anonymous and unlinked, Welch independent-samples tests were used. Post-program means were descriptively higher for reflective teaching, AI-supported planning, and inquiry-oriented design, and essentially unchanged for differentiated instruction; none of the four comparisons was statistically significant after Holm adjustment. Qualitative analysis generated five interconnected dimensions: designing for learner agency, self-regulated teaching and reflection, AI-supported learning design, designing for capability development, and critical AI literacy. The findings support a dual-layer interpretation in which teachers' reflective regulation and critical judgment mediate the design of opportunities intended to support learner agency and capability. Because the study measured teachers' reports and artifacts rather than students' experiences or outcomes, its contribution concerns pedagogical intentions and professional learning, not demonstrated gains in learner agency.

Differentiated instruction (DI) is a widely applied concept among today’s educators due to its power to address students’ increasingly diverse learning needs. The extensive integration of educational technology makes it necessary to consider leveraging technology’s potential to enable effective DI. Grounded in path-goal theory, this study investigated how technology leadership provides pathways that impact technology-supported DI, exploring the mediating roles of teachers’ ICT self-efficacy and DI self-efficacy. We constructed a PLS-SEM model based on 923 valid responses from Chinese school teachers. Findings indicated that teachers’ perceived technology leadership has a direct effect on their willingness and capacity to implement DI, particularly in the domains of flexible grouping, continuous personalized evaluation, and adaptive teaching. Additionally, teachers’ dual types of self-efficacy were proven to be significant mediators in the relationship between technology leadership and technology-supported DI. Hence, it is suggested that school principals and their management teams should strategically exercise leadership to cultivate a supportive technological climate and strengthen teachers’ technical and pedagogical self-efficacy to drive the implementation of technology-supported DI.
